This month, our management & team; - visited the Turkish Embassy and the Turkish Consulate General, - visited several Dutch companies aiming to grow their businesses, - supported the members in their business activities, and - participated in fairs and events. 2 Consulate General of Turkey and the Commercial Counsellor in the Netherlands welcomed NAFTC Turkey Wieger Wagenaar, Head of the Supervisory Board at NXT Group of Companies and Melis Akcan, Cluster Manager of NAFTC Turkey & India visited Tolga Orkun, Consul General of Turkey Tolga Orkun informed Mr. Wagenaar and Ms. Akcan about the activities of the Turkish Consulate in Amsterdam. The meeting provided the opportunity to exchange views on bilateral relations. During the meeting, the possibilities for further developing the relations between Turkey and the Netherlands were discussed. Mr. Orkun reiterated his full support to closer relations between Turkey and the Netherlands. Mr. Wagenaar and Ms. Akcan paid a visit to the Turkish Embassy Office and met the Commercial Counsellor and met Mr. Mehmet Tayfun Erkan Mr. Erkan briefed Mr. Wagenaar and Ms. Akcan his support to Turkish companies aiming to do business in the Netherlands. The parties also discussed how they could cooperate both in the Netherlands as well as in Turkey. 2

Mrs. Gaye Inan visited poultry integrations and poultry meat processors to introduce one of our members, GD Animal Health. GD Academy provides state of the art farm animal health teaching GD Academy provides courses related to animal diseases for farm staff, veterinerians, the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, the animal feed industry and the government. The upcoming training on Poultry Health, Climate and Feed will take place between 12 and 16 March Want to know more about the training or register? In addition to collective activities and representation, NAFTC Turkey supports its members individually in line with their requirements. Mrs. Gaye Inan, the Head of Business Development of NXT Group (the local service provider of NAFTC Turkey and India) visited Turkey s biggest poultry integrations and poultry meat processors. The development of an efficient poultry integration requires control of poultry health. Because poultry diseases might spread through a flock very quickly. 4 The master of the art of lighting: HATO Lighting Do you know the importance of lighting for your poultry integration? Have you ever thought about how chickens see? Although chickens see the same way we do, there are major differences between humans and chickens. For example, chickens can see ultraviolet lights. So chickens see an extra sector of the light spectrum that enables them to see colours better than us. Chickens also can detect subtle motion which is invisable to humans. Lighting is one of the most important aspects of poultry integration which influences poultry behavior considerably. Appropriate lighting can increase or lower activity, minimize the risk of undesirable behavior and optimize animal performance. Melis Akcan visited Hato Lighting and met Marcel Visschers, Director and Roy Godding, Account Manager in their office and introduced NAFTC Turkey. Mr. Godding gave a presentation about the company s history, products and services. The two sides agreed further cooperation. 5 We visited IMPEX in Barneveld: a pioneer in water drinking systems Chickens must have non-stop access to clean and fresh water. Because water is essential for chickens nutrition and physiology. Depending upon farm s purpose and climate, different types of waterers are necessary for efficient animal management. Having more than 45 years of experience, Impex is a leading global player in water drinking equipment for poultry, pigs and livestock sectors. We visited Impex in Barneveld and met Mr. Olaf van Steenis, the Export Manager of Impex, to learn more about their products and business activities. We also discussed possible cooperation options with NAFTC Turkey and India. Melis Akcan, the Cluster Manager of NAFTC Turkey & India and Mr. van Steenis agreed to cooperate on the untapped business opportunities in India. 6 De Gier Drive Systems: Reliable partner of agricultural & horticultural sectors Melis Akcan met Wouter Heezen, Sales Director and Ruud Schenkels, International Sales Manager in Wateringen. The two sides discussed the business activities of De Gier in Turkey. Mr. Heezen and Mr. Schenkels agreed to meet again and discuss on a cooperation plan. ABOUT DE GIER DRIVE SYSTEMS De Gier develops and manufactures high-tech drive systems for the agriculture and horticulture sectors. The company s gearboxes and rack and pinion systems are used for ventilation, screening and hoisting systems which includes driving ventilation Windows, hoisting heating systems in greenhouses, and hoisting feed and drink systems in stables. Flower Show was held in Istanbul NXT Group of Companies, the local service provider of NAFTC Turkey & India, offered support to Van Den Berk Trees November 2017, Eurasia Plant Fair / Flower Show Istanbul 2017 was held in Istanbul. The fair attracted thousands of buyers from the emerging markets of Eurasia, Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa. NAFTC Turkey Cluster Manager, Melis Akcan visited the Flower Show and visited Dutch companies exhibited in the fair. Moreover, NXT Group of Companies, the local service provider of NAFTC Turkey & India, provided support to Van Den Berk Nurseries. Van Den Berk Nurseries specializes in medium to very large sized trees. Being one of the largest nurseries in Europe, Van Den Berk completed several successful projects in Turkey through with the support of NXT Group. 6
