Successful Breeding Guide About Magic Fish Scientific name: Nothobranchius Korthausae There's nothing fishy going on here! Simply follow the step-by-step instructions and with proper care, you can watch your Magic Fish grow and develop right before your eyes! This educational play kit is an exciting new way to teach science. It also makes the perfect gift for children. Pg. 1 Pg. 3 Pg. 4 Pg. 5 Getting Started Magic Fish Food Preparation Magic Fish Hatching Guide Magic Fish Maintenance
Getting Started Before you begin hatching your Magic Fish, you will need the following supplies: Fish bowl Transparent container that will hold eight (8) to twelve (12) ounces of water Bottled water Eight (8) to twelve (12) ounces of bottled spring water at room temperature Do Not Use: tap water, distilled water, cold water/water below room temperature, carbonated water, or water with enhanced minerals. One (1) container of non-iodized salt Non-iodized salt Tip: Can t find non-iodized salt? Look for the following names/phrases: Kosher Salt Natural Sea Salt This Salt Does Not Supply Iodine, a Necessary Nutrient 1
The Magic Fish kit contains everything you need to hatch your fish, including: Box #1 Box #2 Box #3 The miracle pouch- contains coco substrate infused with fish eggs. The coco substrate is the black material in the miracle pouch, which carries the Magic Fish embryos. Magic Fish food: Brine shrimp Two plastic hatching containers Magic Fish tool kit: Box #4 Spoon Siphon Magnifier 2
Magic Fish Food Preparation You must prepare your fish food before hatching your Magic Fish. Always prepare the fish food in advance because the live brine shrimp can take up to 48 hours to hatch. IMPORTANT! You never want to run out of Magic Fish food, order today by visiting Step 1: Open Box #3 Remove the two (2) hatching containers and fill them with clean bottled water. Step 2: Open Box #4 Remove the spoon in your tool kit and pour one (1) level spoonful of non-iodized salt into each container. Stir gently to dissolve the salt. Step 3: Open Box #2 Sprinkle a small amount of fish food into each salt water container. It is not necessary to cover the entire surface; the less food on the water surface, the more shrimp will hatch. IMPORTANT! Close the fish food pouch after use. 3
Magic Fish Hatching Guide Step 1: Pour eight (8) to twelve (12) ounces of bottled spring water into the fish bowl. Make sure water is at room temperature and away from air vents. DO NOT place any rock, plant, or other objects in the fish bowl until your Magic Fish are at least 4 months old. DO NOT hatch the Magic Fish in an aquarium. DID YOU KNOW? The best temperature for hatching Magic Fish eggs is around degrees Fahrenheit. Step 2: Open Box #1 Using the attached string to avoid damaging fish embryos, gently remove miracle pouch from the plastic bag. Submerge miracle pouch into the water. Step 3: Open Box # 4 After 24 hours, use magnifier to spot your Magic Fish. Keep in mind baby Magic Fish like to hide in coco substrate, the brownish material found in your miracle pouch. Gently tilt the fish bowl to one side and you will see tiny fish dart around. If you do not see any fish after 72 hours, please contact support (877)
Magic Fish Maintenance After your Magic Fish hatch, it is very important to keep them healthy and happy. Feeding Instructions 1. Open Box #4. 2. Use siphon/dropper to collect the brine shrimp from the plastic hatching container then empty into fish bowl. 3. Feed your Magic Fish three (3) full siphon/droppers a day for the first month. After the first month, feed your Magic Fish six (6) full siphon/droppers a day. IMPORTANT! Magic Fish must have food to survive and should never go without eating. 5
Maintaining Water To keep your Magic Fish healthy, you must change their water twice a week. Wait one week after your Magic Fish hatch before beginning this process. 1. Carefully remove half of the water from your fish bowl and add an equal amount of bottled spring water. 2. Repeat this process every 4-5 days. IMPORTANT! Be careful not to collect any of your Magic Fish while removing the water. 3. After 4 weeks, carefully transfer your Magic Fish with existing water and coco substrate into a larger container. Gently add clean bottled water to the new container. IMPORTANT! Baby fish like to hide in coco substrate. Make sure to transfer the coco substrate along with the fish and water. Coco substrate will gradually disappear as you change the water L&G International, LLC. all rights reserved. Magic Fish 6
