A few more stories about the animals whose lives you helped save
Josefina Josefina was abandoned by former owners, even though she is a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. Thanks to Laska s new veterinary equipment they were able to quickly diagnose conjunctivitis and immediately started her treatment. She also needed treatment for a skin fungus condition. They are now looking for a new loving family to care for her.
Berta Berta was brought to Laska by the police after she had been heavily beaten. A stick was found beside her, and a belt had been around her neck that had cut through her skin. After four hours of surgery and a restful recovery, Berta is now looking for loving owners to care for her.
Ben Ben was found by members of the public covered in blood. After treating his wounds, the Laska team were able to find his owners they were hugely relieved to be reunited with their lost family pet, and delighted the Laska vets were able to treat his wounds.
The Squirrels Two dogs, affectionately known as The Squirrels, were abandoned in the forest. They were so stressed at the time of capture that they dared not move. After a bit of TLC from the Laska team, they now jump like squirrels, hence their name. The photo is of the Squirrels at the time of capture you can just make out a black dog and a white dog in the photo.
Bamby Laska received a call that a dog was sitting in a hole in the road. They immediately transported Bamby back to the shelter and were able to quickly diagnose problems with his ears thanks to their new diagnostic equipment. He responded well to treatment and is now looking for a new home. Rex A member of the public called Laska to report a dog was lying on the road, not moving. Thanks to the new cages, they were able to transport Rex safely even with his painful wound. The vets were then able to closely monitor Rex and were able to save him from gangrene.
Chipy Chipy was abandoned and found to have many diseases, starting from ear inflammation to stomach problems. Thanks to the new microscope and endoscope, the Laska vets were able to diagnose the problems early, some of which could have potentially developed into a form of cancer.
Dina This is a photo are of Dina with her new loving family. She came into the care of the Laska team after being found in a cellar. She was pregnant but sadly all of her babies had died. After being spayed it didn t take long for her to find her new forever home.
Upy Laska received a phone call from the Lutsk Deputy Mayor asking them to rescue a dog that was roaming near a bridge. He managed to catch the dog using food and held it until the Laska vehicle arrived. As Upy (his new name) is very old and does not trust people, he will probably live out his natural life at the shelter as there s not much chance of him being rehomed. However he seems to be quite happy and already responds readily to his new name!
Alisa Alisa was brought to Laska by volunteers who had found the dog in the street with a broken leg. As Laska does not have an x-ray machine, they took the dog to a private clinic for diagnosis. As the necessary surgery was very difficult requiring specialist tools, it was carried out by Oleksandr (Laska vet) at the private clinic. After surgery Alisa`s leg was in plaster with a metal plate for two months. Soon the plate will be taken out and it s hoped that her leg will fully recover.
Umka Umka was brought to Laska by her owners. They said that Umka had become very aggressive and they no longer wanted her. However at Laska Umka showed absolutely no signs of aggression and was very clever. It didn t take long for her to be rehomed with a loving family.
Roy and Jack Late one night, Laska received a call from the police who said there was a dog wearing a collar that was attacking people near a block of flats. The new rescue vehicle enabled Laska to collect the dog and transport it to the shelter. A most unusual thing happened on their way back to the shelter, they received another call about another dog attacking people so they collected that one as well! The two dogs were named Roy and Jack and, following careful assessment, they have both been rehomed.
Melissa Laska manager, Dana, was hurrying to the City Council offices for a meeting when she had to stop because she saw a bleeding dog near the central mall. The catchers and the vet arrived very quickly and collected the dog. Upon their return to Laska, they washed and treated the dog`s wounds. Today Melissa is a happy dog who loves to play and wag her tail. Nobody knows for sure how she was wounded but it looks like she could have been caught under a vehicle and dragged over the tarmac. The main thing is that she is now healthy again and looking for a forever home.
Bida Bida was taken to Laska with his head pierced with a pitchfork. Bida s owner said that this was done by his neighbour who had done it once before already. This time the owner went to the police, but the neighbour was punished with a fine only because there were no witnesses to the crime. Bida used to stray to the neighbour s house but the neighbour didn t want Bida there so decided to kill him. The Laska vets tried very hard to save Bida s life but very sadly they were unable to do so. Bim Bim spent the whole night in an outside toilet where he had fallen. The people who called for the help of Laska had no idea how he fell in. The Laska team rescued Bim and while they were carrying him to the vehicle they heard a woman calling Bim and the dog wagged his tail. The woman said Bim was her neighbour s dog and she d been looking for him the whole night!
