1 15 th Annual East Coast Classic Jackpot Show Hosted by: Deland FFA Alumni & Supporters September 22, 2018 & September 23, 2018 DeLand High FFA Land Lab ~ 300 Cranor Ave. DeLand, Florida Entry Fees Pre-entries & fees must be POSTMARKED by September 1, 2018: Cattle: $30.00 Sheep/Goats: $20.00 Showmanship: $10.00 There will be a $10.00 late fee/per animal entered after the September 1 st deadline. Only Pre-Entries are guaranteed a t-shirt! **** Pre-Entries received without payment will be considered late entries and are subject to late fee upon arrival on show day. Box Glenwood, FL Make checks payable to: DeLand FFA Alumni General Show Rules This show is open to any showman who is currently enrolled in High School and younger and must be a member in good standing with an FFA chapter, 4H Club or a member of a cattle, sheep or goat association. All exhibitors, under the age of 18, must complete and sign the entry form along with their parent/guardian. All animals must have an official health certificate issued by an accredited veterinarian at time of check-in. All animals must be free of lice and are subject to health requirements of the state of Florida. All exhibitors under the age of 6 years old will be required to have handler in the ring during the show and showmanship. It is strictly the Judge s decision on call backs for Top 5. For all species, a minimum of 10 animals are needed to make a separate division/show. Otherwise divisions will be combined. Class will be set with a minimum of 5 head for sheep and goats and 3 head for cattle. 1

2 Sheep Show Rules Market Lambs- Market Lambs will be shown by weight. Lambs will be weighed in at the time of check-in between 6:00 and 7:30 AM on Saturday, September 22, After all animals are weighed and checked-in, the show committee will establish classes for the market lambs. Ewes may be shown in the market lamb show. *The market lamb show will not be broken into separate divisions. GRAND AND RESERVE MARKET LAMB WILL BE SELECTED Breeding Ewes Breeding ewes will be shown by age and broken into the following divisions: black face ewes, white face ewes, all other wool ewes, and all other haired/exotic ewes. There must be a minimum of 10 ewes in each division to make a separate show; otherwise there will be a combined show. *All breeding ewes must be 48 months of age or under. SUPREME CHAMPION DRIVE: TOP 5 BREEDING EWES WILL BE SELECTED Breeding Rams Breeding rams will be shown by age and broken into the following divisions: black face rams, white face rams, all other wool rams, all other haired/exotic rams. There must be a minimum of 10 rams in each division to make a separate show; otherwise there will be a combined show. *All breeding rams must be 48 months of age or under. 3 Cattle Show Rules Steers - Classes will be established by weight. Steers will be weighed in at time of checkin between 6:00 and 7:30 AM on Sunday, September 23, After all animals are weighed and checked-in, the show committee will establish classes for the steers. *There will be two divisions of market steers, Brahman influenced and AOB. There must be a minimum of 10 steers in each division to make separate shows; otherwise it will be a combined show* THERE WILL BE NO BULL SHOW. SUPREME CHAMPION DRIVE: TOP 5 STEERS WILL BE SELECTED Heifers - Classes will be established by weight. Heifers will be weighed in at time of check-in between 6:00 and 7:30 AM on Sunday, September 23, After all animals are weighed and checked-in, the show committee will establish classes for the heifers. *There will be two divisions of heifers, Brahman influenced and AOB. There must be a minimum of 10 heifers in each division to make separate show; otherwise it will be a combined show.* *All heifers must be 30 months of age or under. 4 Goat Show Rules Goat show will immediately follow the cattle show Market Goats - will be shown by weight and will be weighed in at the time of check-in between 10:00 AM and Noon on Sunday, September 23, After all animals are weighed and checked-in, the show committee will establish classes for the market goats. Does may be shown in the market goat show. *The market goat show will not be broken into separate divisions. Dwarf Division - Goats will be shown by age. Dairy Division - Goats will be shown by age. Market Meat Goats Goats must be under 1 year of age. Breeding Meat Goats - Goats will be shown by age. WETHERS & THERE WILL BE NO BREEDING MEAT BUCK SHOW. GRAND AND RESERVE CHAMPION GOATS WILL BE RECOGNIZED Showmanship Contest There will be a showmanship contest held on each day for cattle, goats, and sheep. The showmanship contest is an additional $10.00 fee and is optional for exhibitors. Exhibitors may participate in the Showmanship contest only and are not required show in classes. Showman must abide by the General Show Rules. The divisions are: Pee-Wee (7 and under), Junior (8 to 11), Intermediate (12 to 14), and Senior (15 to 18), as of September 1,

5 Shade, Generators and Wash Racks There will be no shade or tie-outs available. Please bring your own shade. Remember the show is in late-september and it can be hot! There will be NO barn ties; you must tie to your trailer. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to provide his/her own power for cooling and grooming their animals. There is a limited supply of water and wash rack facilities. It is recommended by the Show Committee that exhibitors wash before arriving to the show or bring equipment to assist them in cleaning their animals. You are responsible for cleaning your area before you leave. Ethical Treatment of Animals All animals are expected to be treated in an ethical and humane way. Failure to do so may cause the exhibitor and animal(s) to be disqualified. Interpretation of the Rules The show committee reserves the right to amend, add to and interpret the above and following rules and regulations. Disclaimer The DeLand FFA Alumni, the DeLand High Agriculture Land Laboratory, or Volusia County Schools will be NOT be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that occur. However every attempt will be made to provide a safe environment for both animals and exhibitors. We will also NOT be responsible for any lost or stolen personal items.
