5 Dedicated accreditation bodies were created over the world AVMA (1906) RCVS (1966) SAVC (1982) AVBC (1985) EAEVE (1988).. Other evaluating organizations at national or inter state level are under construction

11 OIE recommandations On Day 1 comp. The Day 1 veterinary graduate should have mastery of basic competencies and a general awareness and appreciation of advanced competencies. Basic competencies can be divided into general competencies (which are not addressed in detail in this document) and specific competencies. Other competencies could be added based on requirement of each country

Accreditation needs to be meaningfull It gives assurance to the public to know they can trust the quality of graduating veterinary surgeons and the service they deliver veterinary students to know their education reaches agreed and acceptable standards veterinary establishments to know that their curricula and School reaches agreed benchmarked levels (EAEVE)

20 Next steps There is already well recognized veterinary dedicated accreditation systems. Some are working together in the IAWG Efforts should be made to help establishments engaged in the process of implementing the Day 1 competencies to monitor their achievment.

23 Next steps Discussions should be engaged through international accreditors to propose some monitoring process based on their experience. The proposed system should be freely implemented everywhere
