Theriogenology Clinic Experience January 2016 Assisted in a cycle check for a bitch in heat and learned to interpret a scope reading, a vaginal cytology swab, and progesterone blood tests. Cesarean Section December 2015 Oversaw cesarean section on a German Shepard and assisted with the recovery of puppies from anesthetics.
5 Canine Ultrasound Wet Lab December 2015 Learned to orient myself using an ultrasound probe and to identify and scan the kidney, spleen, liver, and bladder. Also practiced the T-FAST procedure and learned how to use ultrasound to take a biopsy sample. Castration of Lambs December 2015 Assisted in the restraint of rams and learned how to perform a bloodless castration using appropriate analgesics and anesthetics. Small Animal Emergency Surgery Experience November 2015 Observed emergency surgeries in the small animal emergency clinic and assisted the veterinary technician. Blood Collections from Sheep November 2015 Collected blood from the jugular vein of ewes for a research project. Nerve Block and Disbudding October 2015 Assisted with the disbudding of conscious calves using appropriate analgesics and anesthetics.
