NOVICE INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at east 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at east 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at east 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at east 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Junior Showmanship Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at east 14 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OBEDIENCE TRIAL CLASSES Qualifying Score Required for All Prizes Dog means either sex Bitches that come in season after closing of entries may receive a full refund of entry fee if certification from a Veterinarian is received by the Superintendent/show secretary before the judging begins on the day of the trial. A Dark Green Qualifying Score Ribbon will be awarded to each dog receiving a qualifying score. PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES The Sweepstakes is open to all Cocker Spaniels (Black, ASCOB & Parti-Color) who are 6 months and under 12 months of age on the day of the show. Entry fee is $ PRIZE MONEY: After 30% has been deducted by the Club for expences, the remainder will be divided as follows: FIRST 40%, SECOND 30%, THIRD- 20%, FOURTH-10% STRIPPED DOWN CLASSES All Cocker Spaniels (Black, ASCOB & Parti-Color) entered in the Stripped Down Classes must be ELIGIBLE for the Regular Classes at this show. All dogs entered in the Stripped Down Classes must be at least one year of age on the day of the show. No dog may compete in the Stripped Down Class with more than 2 inches of feathering, not to include the ears. Classes will be divided by sex and variety, but all ages will be shown together. The first place dog and bitch winners from each variety will compete for Best Stripped Down and Best of Opposite Sex to Best Stripped Down. (All Vehicles from South: I-79 North to I-70 East to New Stanton, PA. Take Rt. 66 North (toll road) to Delmont, PA. (For those using Rt. 22 & 30, turn North onto Rt. 66. Go approximately 10 miles from the S&T Bank sign in Delmont. Turn LEFT onto Pine Run Church Road. There is a sign Pine Run Pools and Spas at the intersection. Also a STATE POLICE sign. Go about one mile and turn RIGHT onto Pine Run Road. (Travel about two miles to a STOP sign. Turn LEFT onto Markle Road. Follow Markle Road about one mile. There will be a lake on the left. 15 AKC Code of Sportsmanship PREFACE: The sport of purebred dog competitive events dates prior to 1884, the year of AKC s birth. Shared values of those involved in the sport include principles of sportsmanship. They are practiced in all sectors of our sport: conformation, performance and companion. Many believe that these principles of sportsmanship are the prime reason why our sport has thrived for over one hundred years. With the belief that it is useful to periodically articulate the fundamentals of our sport, this code is presented. Sportsmen respect the history, traditions and integrity of the sport of purebred dogs. Sportsmen commit themselves to values of fair play, honesty, courtesy, and vigorous competition, as well as winning and losing with grace. Sportsmen refuse to compromise their commitment and obligation to the sport of purebred dogs by injecting personal advantage or consideration into their decisions or behavior. The sportsman judge judges only on the merits of the dogs and considers no other factors. The sportsman judge or exhibitor accepts constructive criticism. The sportsman exhibitor declines to enter or exhibit under a judge where it might reasonably appear that the judge s placements could be based on something other than the merits of the dogs. The sportsman exhibitor refuses to compromise the impartiality of a judge. The sportsman respects the AKC bylaws, rules, regulations and policies governing the sport of purebred dogs. Sportsmen find that vigorous competition and civility are not inconsistent and are able to appreciate the merit of their competition and the effort of competitors. Sportsmen welcome, encourage and support newcomers to the sport. Sportsmen will deal fairly with all those who trade with them. Sportsmen are willing to share honest and open appraisals of both the strengths and weaknesses of their breeding stock. Sportsmen spurn any opportunity to take personal advantage of positions offered or bestowed upon them. Sportsmen always consider as paramount the welfare of their dog.
