2 WHY BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY? We dreamed up the initiative in 2014, when an office move meant that we were only able to bring our dogs to work for one day of the year. Spotting an opportunity to raise money for charity, and truly believing in the benefits of having dogs in the workplace, we launched the concept nationally. The nation has embraced Bring Your Dog to Work Day from the outset and today - four years on - thousands of businesses around the country are taking part in the best day out for dogs.

3 MARKETING GOALS Bring Your Dog to Work Day is now an event being celebrated by thousands of dog owners and businesses across the UK. For 2017, our aim was to generate viral social sharing of #BringYourDogToWorkDay and secure prominent national press coverage. We exceeded our expectations. On Friday June 23 rd thousands of companies and social media pages from a host of industries pledged their support for Bring Your Dog To Work Day. This included regional police forces, fire brigade teams, hotel chains and recruitment agencies - as well as household names such as The Trainline, Miele, Vets4Pets, Henry Schein, PrivateFly, Xbox UK, The Grand Tour, Shrek the Musical, Coronation Street, Tennis TV, comedian Ricky Gervais and many more.

In 2017, Bring Your Dog To Work Day was featured by multiple national publications, along with a number of regional publications. The day was also discussed on regional radio programmes. 10 SEVEN HR GUIDELINES For #BringYourDogToWorkDay 1. Written consent should be obtained from every office employee ahead of Bring Your Dog to Work Day. 2. An accurate record of all dogs in the workplace should be kept. 3. Each dog coming to the workplace should be kept on a leash while walking in the building as well as outside, and should have an identity tag with the owner s contact details. 4. Dogs must be clean and well-groomed ahead of their day at work. 5. Dogs should be well socialised i.e. good natured and comfortable around dogs and people. 6. Each participating employee should bring a Dog Packed Lunch - including treats, toys, a lead, water bowl, and food. 7. Each participating employee should also bring appropriate bedding for their dog, i.e. dog basket, mat or rug. Just so the working day is as comfortable as possible! Ahead of this year s event - HOWND published 7 HR Guidelines after being asked for advice from a number of officebased organisations. This guidelines were widely covered by the press.

11 OFFICIAL MOVIE To celebrate this year s event, HOWND released Bring Your Dog To Work Day s first official movie. The film features a selection of dogs performing different jobs (safely!) - such as unloading a washing machine and doing pilates! 12 HOW THE DAY WORKS Anybody can take part in Bring Your Dog To Work Day and share their experience on social media using the #BringYourDogToWorkDay hashtag. Businesses or any dog-loving employee can make an online donation. In return, businesses can upload a company logo and description to the Business Sponsors section on the official BYD website, while individuals can upload a pooch selfie onto the Dog With A Job Hall Of Fame. The Bring Your Dog To Work Day website accepts business sponsor donations (minimum of 100) and individual donations (minimum of 2) all year round. All proceeds in 2017 were split between All Dogs Matter and Animals Asia.

13 MORE THAN A MARKETING EVENT Raising Money For Animal Welfare Charities The aim of Bring Your Dog To Work Day is to raise money for animal welfare charities, while promoting the benefits of bringing dogs into safe work environments. This year the event raised money for All Dogs Matter and Animals Asia. HOWND encourages participating companies to raise money on the day for their chosen charities too. All Dogs Matter is a charity that rescues and rehomes more than 300 dogs a year in London, Norfolk and the surrounding areas, and has three members of staff. The dogs in their care are either strays, are relocated from pounds, or simply come from owners who can no longer keep them. A mixture of foster homes and kennel spaces are used to take care of the dogs. Founded in 1998 by Jill Robinson MBE, Animals Asia has worked tirelessly around the horrific dog and cat meat trade as well as the cruel bear bile farming industry. It promotes compassion and respect for all animals, working to improve their welfare and bring about long-term change in China and Vietnam. It is the only organisation with a bear sanctuary in China.
