Pages 5-6 are colour coded Lesson 7 Jesus the Good Shepherd This is a suggested outline. Make yourself familiar with it so you tell the story rather than just read it. Remember to add expression. We have deliberately chosen to not add animations. You are free are to do so if you d like. We may have also used some additional pictures, which you can find in Lesson Tools Extras or in the Unit 2 story telling page on Power Tools. (Slide 1) (Slide 2) Jesus loved to tell stories to help people understand about God. He knew that his people understood a lot about sheep and how a shepherd looks after them. (Slide 3) One day Jesus talked to his friends about being a good shepherd. Jesus explained how much a shepherd loves his sheep. (Slide 4) The shepherd doesn t need to sneak in over the fence, but he walks in through the opening and his sheep know him. They even know his voice! The shepherd calls them by their name and leads them out of the enclosure. (Slide 5) The shepherd goes ahead of them and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. The sheep won t follow a stranger because they don t recognise his voice. They trust the shepherd. Jesus wanted his followers to understand that he was like a good shepherd so he told this story: (Slide 6) God is like a shepherd who had 100 sheep. Every sheep was known by name. The shepherd looked after his sheep. (Slide 7) He kept them safe from wolves and thieves. They followed him everywhere he went. (Slide 8) One day the shepherd brought his sheep home from the hills. He put them into his sheep pen to keep them safe for the night. He counted them and there was one missing. His lost sheep would be in great danger. The shepherd made sure his 99 sheep were safe then he went looking for the lost sheep.
