2 RULES AND REGULATIONS The AMERICAN DAIRY GOAT ASSOCIATION rules shall govern. 1. ENTRY FEES: Postmarked on or before April 22, $10.00 per animal (FDGA Member)...$11.00 per animal (Non-Member) Postmarked on or after April 23, 2011 thru day of show(s)...$15.00 per animal (FDGA Member)...$16.00 per animal (Non-Member) **PLEASE NOTE: ENTRY FEES MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRIES. ALL entry forms MUST be signed by the exhibitor. Entries received without payment will be considered late and late entry fee will apply. There will be NO refunds for cancellations. A maximum of 5 substitutions will be allowed at check in (a change in class is not considered a substitution). Late fees may be waived at the discretion of the show committee. 2. ARRIVAL AND VET CHECK: Arrival for Saturday, April 30, 2011 will be from 7:00 AM-9:30 AM. The show will start promptly at 10:00 AM.. An accredited veterinarian will be checking animals BEFORE they are UNLOADED and allowed into the holding area/show arena between the hours listed above. 3. REGISTRATION CHECK IN: Check in schedule for registration of animals is as follows: Saturday, April 30, 2011: 7:30 AM until 9:30 AM A maximum of 5 substitutions will be allowed at check in (a change in class is not considered a substitution). IT IS THE EXHIBITOR S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE HIS OR HER ANIMALS ARE CHECKED IN BEFORE THE BOOKS CLOSE AT THE TIMES LISTED ABOVE. NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER THAT TIME. 2
3 4. PENS: This is a tailgate show. Exhibitors must provide own pens and bedding. All bedding, hay and debris MUST be removed and placed in the proper receptacle prior to departure. No exceptions. Failure to clean your area will be noted for possible exclusion from future club shows. 5. SHOW ATTIRE FOR OPEN SHOW: White or black pants/shorts/capris/skirts and plain white shirts are mandatory. Herd/club logos and pin striping on collar/sleeve is acceptable. No short shorts or tank tops. Closed toed shoes or boots are required, and hats or caps are not allowed in the show ring. Exhibitors not conforming to the dress code will not be allowed to enter the ring. 6. JUDGING: Judging will begin promptly at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 with the Senior Does followed by the Junior Does. In the Senior and Junior Doe Shows, the following breeds will be sanctioned by the American Dairy Goat Association and shown in the following order: Lamancha, Recorded Grade, Oberhasli, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Saanen, and AOP (Alpine, Toggenburg, Sable).. 7. HEALTH RULES: 1. Florida-origin goats presented for exhibition must be accompanied by an OCVI (Health Certificate) dated not more than 90 days prior to presentation certifying animals to be free from symptoms of contagious or infectious diseases.. 2. Goats imported into Florida for exhibition must be accompanied by an OCVI (Health Certificate) completed within 30 days prior to exhibition certifying animals to be free from symptoms of contagious or infectious diseases. 3. Identification: a. All goats entered for exhibition purposes must have an official individual identification in accordance with the National Scrapie Eradication Uniform Methods and Rules, APHIS , June 1, b. No individual identification is required for goats less than 1 month of age accompanied by the doe; but the (4 week old) animal must be listed on the OCVI with the mother (e.g., FL ####### for the dam + 2 kids). 3
4 c. Methods of identification include Scrapie tags or tattoos for registered animals when accompanied by registration papers. d. The USDA Premise Identification # must appear on the health certificate. 4. Test or Certification Required: a. Tuberculosis Test. Dairy goats originating from Florida (not imported) are exempt from TB/Brucellosis testing requirements. All imported dairy goats six (6) months of age or older imported for exhibition purposes must originate from an Accredited Tuberculosis-Free Herd, or have had a negative caudal fold tuberculosis test within 90 days prior to exhibition. When originating from accredited tuberculosis-free herds, the OCVI must show, the accredited herd number and the date of the last herd accreditation test. b. Brucellosis Test. Dairy goats originating from Florida (not imported) are exempt from TB/Brucellosis testing requirements. All imported dairy goats six (6) months of age or older imported for exhibition purposes must originate from a Certified Brucellosis-Free Herd, or have had a negative brucellosis test within 30 days prior to exhibition. When originating from a certified brucellosis-free herd, the OCVI must show the certified herd number and the date of the last herd certification test. The specific code of the Florida Administrative Code (Chapter 5C-4.005) will be followed. The show veterinarian has the final decision on whether animals satisfy all health requirements. Presenting obviously unhealthy animals may, subject to the ruling of the Show Committee, result in the entire herd s disqualification from the show. A veterinarian/usda inspector will be present to inspect all goats entering the show for proper OCVI paperwork. Please make sure you make the official inspector/ Veterinarian is aware of your arrival before unloading animals on the grounds. 8. LIABILITY FOR LOSS OR THEFT The owner or custodian of property of any kind brought to the Fairgrounds; either for exhibit or for other purposes, assumes as a condition of its admission to the grounds, all risk and/or responsibility for its loss, damage or theft. The Florida Dairy Goat Association, Inc., its officers, members and volunteers cannot and will not accept responsibility and liability for any damage or injury resulting from theft, fire, the elements, accidents or other conditions or causes; whether to exhibits, property of exhibitor, vehicles on the grounds and articles left therein or any other property of any nature whatsoever. 4
5 9. GENERAL: The American Dairy Goat Association registration certificate is required on all animals 6 months of age or older. A duplicate application for registry stamped by the ADGA office is permissible for animals under 6 months of age. The registration or stamped duplicate application must be available to the show secretary at the time of arrival. All dairy goats must be dehorned, disbudded, or naturally polled. Dogs are not allowed at the show. The show chairperson will designate where to dump milk at check-in. No awards will be given to any animal in any class, if in the opinion of the judge said animal does not meet breed standards. Over-uddering of dairy goats is frowned upon. The judge shall have the authority to excuse animals from the ring for removal of excess milk. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to properly feed, water, milk, and care for their animals. Failure to do so will result in exhibitor s immediate expulsion from the premises. Please make sure your animals are correctly tattooed. Failure to do so makes your dairy goat ineligible to receive credit for their win. The Florida Dairy Goat Association, Inc. will use every precaution in their power to protect the animals, but they will not be held responsible for injury, fire, theft, or otherwise. The Show Committee shall have the authority to expel any exhibitor or any in their company for failure to abide by these rules contained herein, or for unacceptable conduct. The exhibitor and/or any in their company will also be prohibited from showing at this venue the following year. By application for admission, each exhibitor and any in their company agree that they have read, understood, and will abide by these rules and the General Rules of the FDGA (including the IAFE National Code of Show Ring Ethics and items within the Health Regulations section of the General Rules). 10. RELEASE: Please leave the grounds as you found them. All bedding and trash must be removed and put into designated containers before you may leave the grounds. Dairy goats and exhibitors will be released following the last class in which you are showing, unless you must remain for Best in Show. 5
