4 JOHAN BECERRA, PUERTO RIC0 JUDGES BIOGRAPHIES 2015 Johan Becerra is a veterinarian owner of BECLOVE KENNELS. He is licensed by The Federación Canófila de Puerto Rico (FCPR) (member of the FCI) and certified to judge all breeds. As a canine judge, he has judged in numerous countries including Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Spain, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Australia, Estonia, Latvia, South Africa, Puerto Rico and USA. In 1980, he registered his first breed, Great Danes, and bred two litters. By 1986, he acquired his first Neapolitan Mastiff, which he bred and showed with great success. The Venezuelan Kennel Club awarded him his first medal as breeder of the year. He worked as a handler for several breeds including the breed that launched his career internationally, Basset Hounds. His passion for this breed originated during this time. After finishing several champions for other kennels, he ventured into his own kennel and began actively breeding Basset Hounds. By 1992 he bred his first litter and since then he has continued, with much determination, the selection and exhibition of these dogs. He has owned, bred and shown numerous dogs within the Basset Hound breed, under his international affix, BECLOVE. Many of these have become champions in Venezuela, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States among other countries. Some of them are Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show and Group winners. He has won over 70 All Breed Best in Shows with his own dogs, Specialty Best in Shows and many group first and placements. He has also bred and own several world champions and international champions. SHIRLEY BELL, ONTARIO, CANADA I have been involved in the world of purebred dogs for 40 years. My first purebred dog was a Basset Hound. Next came Boxers, and now, along with the Boxers, we co-own a Boston Terrier. I am a life member of the Boxer Club of Canada Inc. and the Canadian Kennel Club Inc. as well as my own local All Breed Club (Nipissing Kennel Club Inc). I am also one of the founding members of the Northern Ontario Boxer Club and a long time member of the American Boxer Club Inc. I created the PowerPoint Presentation Judging the Boxer. This presentation is approved by the Boxer Club of Canada Inc. and used for judges education. I have judged large Boxer Specialties in Canada, US, Australia, Mexico, the Philippines and Argentina ROBERTA CAMPBELL, FLORIDA, USA Roberta Campbell lives in Ocala, Florida. She has judged multiple times in Europe, Columbia, Australia and New Zealand as well as in the US, Canada and Alaska. She is approved for all Hounds, Terriers and Herding breeds. Roberta is the Vice-President, past President and Show Chair of the Greater Ocala Dog Club. She is the founder of Unique Birders, a life member of the West Highland White Terrier Club of America, a long-time member of the Cairn Terrier Club of America and the Airedale Terrier Club of America. She shares her home with an ancient Australian Shepherd and assorted, appreciative cats which used to be strays. Judging assignments are now kept at two weekends a month because of the misery of travel - mostly the airlines. Her goal is to bring honesty, civility and depth of knowledge to each assignment. Judging is a continuous learning experience 4

5 CAROLYN CEDERMAN, NEW ZEALAND I started my involvement in the dog world with my first Irish Setter in I have continued to breed and successfully show Irish Setters for the past 40 years under the Lanascol prefix - now having seven NZ Grand Champions. Over the years I have also imported a number of Irish Setters to help with my breeding program. For 15 years I was involved with breeding and exhibiting Labrador Retrievers alongside the Irish Setters. I have also owned and exhibited American Cockers. For the past 19 years I have been involved with breeding and exhibiting Pointers with my husband. I owned on Basset Hound for a number of years. We are now owned by a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. I have been judging since 1985 and am now an All Breed judge. I have had many judging assignments in New Zealand including the NZ National Dog Show in I have also judged in Australia, Sweden, the USA and India. DANA CLINE, ILLINOIS, USA In the late 1960 s, Dana Cline s parents gave him his first Great Dane and from that moment he knew that he would have a lifetime of involvement with this breed and with dogs. Breeding has always been a favorite aspect of this sport for Mr. Cline. He has bred nearly 80 champions in a number of breeds, primarily Great Danes, but also Borzoi, German Wirehaired Pointers, Miniature Bull Terriers and Beagles. He was a long time member of the Great Dane Club of America. He is licensed to judge Sporting, Hounds, Working, Toys and Herding Groups as well as various other breeds. He has judged in a number of foreign countries and at the Great Dane Club of America National Specialty, as well as many of the top shows in the US. RHONDA DAVIS, OHIO, USA I started my life in dogs at the age of five with a Wire Fox Terrier. (I call this baptism by fire into the world of terriers.) In the early 70s I purchased my first Airedale and consider the Airedale to be my breed of choice and my real passion. I have also owned, shown and bred Welsh Terriers, and now live with a 15 year old Dandie Dinmont Terrier. My judging career started in 1987 at which point I stopped breeding dogs. I have judged in Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, Sweden and at Montgomery County. Having a real love for the Terrier has made me a bit of one myself! MICHAEL J. DOUGHERTY, CALIFORNIA, USA Michael J. Dougherty started with his family in purebred dogs in 1961, acquiring his first Whippet in By 1974 he was approved by the American Kennel Club for a limited handler s license, attaining all-breed status in teaming with his father, Jack Dougherty. While concentrating on handling he also bred and owned, with his family, Miniature Schnauzers, Smooth Fox Terriers, and Keeshonden, as well as Whippets. As a professional handler, he guided the careers of many top winning dogs, including Best in Show winning Whippets and Bichon Frise. His handling focused mainly on breeds in the Hound, Terrier, Non Sporting, and Toy Groups, but also included many breeds in the other three groups. In 1985 Dougherty retired from professional handling to pursue a dog judging avocation, again following in his father s footsteps. He is currently approved by the AKC to judge Best in Show, the Hound Group, the Terrier Group, Manchester Terriers (Toy), Bichon Frises, Boston Terriers, Dalmatians, French Bulldogs, Keeshonden, Lhasa Apsos, Poodles, and Tibetan Terriers, plus Miscellaneous Classes and Junior Showmanship. He has judged at shows across the United States most notably Westminster (including Best in Show in 2013) and Montgomery County (including Best in Show in 2007). His international judging assignments have taken him to Australia, Taiwan, Colombia, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Finland, Canada, Mexico, and Japan. 5

6 JOAN GOLDSTEIN, NEW JERSEY, USA With my late husband, Bob, I became involved with Sighthounds over 40 years ago. We acquired our first Greyhound on our Honeymoon, and in 1967 we bought our first show Whippet. Since that time, we have bred and owned some very special BIS and Specialty winning Whippets and Greyhounds under the kennel name, Gold-Dust. In 1990, I received A.K.C. approval to judge Whippets, Greyhounds and Junior Handling. I am now approved for the Hound Group, Toy Group, Non-Sporting Group, Doberman Pinschers, and Siberian Huskies. I am also approved for Best In Show. It was an honor to have judged two American Whippet Club Specialties (East and West), and in April of 2000, the American Whippet Club s Millennium National Specialty with an entry of almost 700. I have judged the Canadian Whippet National as well. My resume also includes the Greyhound Club of America Specialty as well as many other Hound Specialties and Hound Group Shows. I have judged a number of Toy Specialties as well as Toy Group Shows. I have had the privilege of judging the AKC/Eukanuba Invitational twice, including the Hound Group at the 2006 Tampa show. Another judging highlight was judging Whippets, Greyhounds and Afghans at Westminster K.C. in I have judged in many foreign countries including a number of times in Sweden (World Show 2008, Stockholm), Australia, Ireland, Canada, Colombia, Norway, as well as Osaka and Tokyo in Japan. It is an honor to come back and judge once again in your country GORDON HAYBURN, ONTARIO, CANADA Although my family has had dogs for as long as I can remember, I first registered my own dog with the UK Kennel Club in I have owned and shown the following breeds: English Setter, Irish Red and White Setter, Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever. I first started judging in the UK in 1997 and am approved by the United Kingdom Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates. I moved to Canada, from the UK, in February 2011 and in 2013 applied for a judging permit from the Canadian Kennel Club. I am now licensed for about 50% and have a permit for the balance of the Sporting Group breeds. Whilst in the UK, I held various committee positions with the English Setter Society of Scotland, the Golden Retriever Club of Wales and the English Setter Society of Wales. I was also the Chairman of the Irish Red and White Setter Club of Great Britain. I believe judging carries great responsibilities and consider it an honor and a privilege to be invited to judge. I find it especially pleasing to be considered worthy to judge the National Specialties of two of my own breeds, having judged both these breeds many times in the UK and look forward to seeing some lovely exhibits and know that I will thoroughly enjoy my day in the company of lovely dogs and the people they own. During this time I have bred and owned many wonderful Pointers and have bred or owned 14 different All Breed Best in Show winners including the BIS at the only Pointer National to be held in Australia, which occurred in I co-bred the BIS winner of the New Zealand National Dog Show in 2005 with this dog going on to the UK where he won BOB and Group 3 at Cruft s in He also won BIS at National Gundog in the UK in During his UK campaign he gained 20 CC s and has produced many Show Champions in the UK. I bred both the father and mother of the #1 dog of All Breeds in NZ Dogzonline in 2010 and also bred and handled the BOB winning Pointer at Crufts in 2012, from the breed s record entry of 256 Pointers. That year he also won Gundog Group 4. Prior to arriving in the UK where he now resides he won the New Zealand All Breeds Puppy of the Year in 2006 and then the Premier All Breeds Dog of the Year contest in This Pointer is the only dog in the breed s history to hold Grand Champion status in both NZ and Australia and also Ch status in the UK.
