The Committee of Management reserves the right to itself to refuse any entry without assigning any reason. Dogs must be entered in and compete in classes for which trophies are offered. Judging will be in catalogue order and will commence at 8.30am. Presentations will be held in the ring. Winners of all classes should present to the official Club photographer for photos. By entering this show you agree to photos taken by the Club approved photographer to be used in any way by the Club. The first Millswyn litter was born in 930 and produced Ch. Millswyn Queen Bee and she was followed by a long line of Champions. Over the years Mrs Florence took an active part in Airedale Terrier Club activities, she was always ready and willing to help new members. She was honoured with Life Membership of the ATCV in 966. The Greta Florence Brace Cup was donated to the ATCV to be awarded for the Best Brace at our Championship Shows in 980. 4 Lorna Schuster Best in Show Trophy Presented at ATCV Championship Shows since 0 Lorna Schuster (nee Green) acquired her first Airedale Terrier as a young girl and joined the ATCV in 930. She began breeding under the Hillmere prefix in 93. Over the years Lorna imported six Airedales from the UK, most in partnership with other breeders, all of which made a significant contribution to our breed. Lorna became Secretary of the ATCV in 939 and held this position until 954 when she and her husband Clive moved to WA. Lorna s contribution to both the Club and the breed was recognised by the Airedale Terrier Club of Victoria and she was appointed as the first Life Member of the club. On her return to Melbourne in the early 960 s Lorna again became active in Club affairs and over her time in the Club occupied nearly every official position and she continued to serve regularly on the Committee until the mid 990 s. In 970 Lorna trained Ch. Hillmere Calypso to the title of CD, the first Terrier bitch in Victoria to gain a Companion Dog title. A long line of Hillmere obedience title holders followed. Lorna s interest in Obedience continued over the years and it was through her enthusiasm and encouragement that the ATCV introduced Restricted Obedience Trials on a regular basis throughout the 980 s and 90 s. Lorna bred innumerable Hillmere Champions her first Ch. Hillmere Valiant in 945, provided foundation stock for many of the old established kennels in Australia and New Zealand and won many Club Specialities, Royal Challenges and Best in Show (All Breeds) awards over the years, as well as all of the Club trophies many times over. Lorna held the unique honour of being Patroness of each of the affiliated Clubs in Australasia Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand. Bill Brilliant Trophy for Best Opposite Sex in Show Bill Brilliant commenced his long and successful career in the Dog World with the purchase of an Airedale bitch in 93. His association with dogs included breeding, exhibiting, importing, judging and administration. His first imported Airedale was Orator in the mid 90 s followed by Wrose Palm, Fernbank Rascal, Princehill Alpha and his last Riverina Gulliver in the mid 950 s. Stoneleigh, his own kennel prefix, became well known for quality Airedale Terriers such as Stonleigh Stormer, Ch. Stonleigh Solario (the first Airedale to win Best Dog in Show at the Melbourne Royal Show in 934), Ch. Stoneleigh Sapper, Ch. Stoneleigh Safeguard and Ch. Stoneleigh Supreme. Bill was involved in the formation of both the Airedale Terrier Club of Victoria in 99 and later the Sporting Terrier Club of Victoria. He was President of the Victorian Poultry and Kennel Club from 948 to 96, was appointed to the Committee of the Kennel Control Council in 947 and was an All-Breeds judge from 956 to 97. He was recognized as an authority on the Terrier breeds and filled many important judging appointments. He judged our Championship Shows in 947, 949 and 965. His contribution to the dog world was recognized by Life Membership of the Airedale Terrier Club of Victoria in 964, Sporting Terrier Club of Victoria and the Victorian Poultry and Kennel Club. He was made a Life Member of the KCC in 978 and was Patron of both the ATCV and the ATANSW. Bill celebrated his 00th birthday on 3st. August 986. Bill Brilliant contributed much to our Club, our breed and the Dog World generally and holds a unique place in Airedale Terrier History. Lorna Schuster s influence on the Airedale Terrier world was immense over the years and was made all the more admirable by her unselfish and untiring efforts for the good of the breed as a whole. 5 Our Judge Mr Wood Wornall (USA) The list of champions that, as a professional handler, Wood Wornall piloted to record-breaking wins includes some of the most notable names of the late 0th century. Wood s resume consists of hundreds of Best in Show wins, including three victories with three different breeds at the famed Montgomery County Kennel Club show. He s piloted more than 0 different breeds from five of the seven Groups to BIS wins, and has won countless National Specialties along the way. He and his daughter Jenny were responsible for the conditioning and handling of the Top winning Best in Show Airedale of all time..ch Evermay s High Performance. Now retired from handling, Wood is now stepping into the ring as a judge. In recent years he has judged a number of breeds during the Montgomery week including Airedales at Hatboro. In 09 he will judge the ATC of America National Specialty at Montgomery County Show. Wood has a longstanding interest in Airedale Terriers although he grew up without a dog to call his own. His maternal grandfather had imported Airedale Terriers to America during the 930 s and although he never met the man, Wood saw a photograph of his grandfather with his dogs, and this piqued his interest. He decided then and there that he was interested in Airedales. Wood recalls that he just liked the fact that his grandfather had the breed, known as the King of Terriers. I thought they were handsome, and I d heard they were used in World War One. Wood started showing Airedales in Kansas City when he was just fifteen years of age. While still a teenager Wood went to work for Ric Chashoudian in California who, in those days, showed more Airedales and won with the breed more than anyone else. That was where Wood wanted to go to learn more about Airedales. He worked with and learnt from Ric for seven years before starting out on his own to handle. During the ensuing years he has had much success with various breeds, including of course Airedale Terriers. Wood Wornall judged the Airedale Terrier Club of Victoria s Open show in 988 and we are pleased to welcome him this year to judge our 84th. Championship Show.
