Exhibitors must wear the attire listed as well as the additional attire requirements of the affiliation which he or she entered the class. The judge may disqualify any exhibitor at his/her discretion if proper attire is not worn. White collared button down shirt No sleeveless shirts are allowed Short sleeves are allowed except when showing rabbits and poultry Rabbit and Poultry exhibitors are required to wear a white long sleeve shirt Black or brown shoes No open toed shoes Pants cannot be tucked into boots, boots must be worn inside the pant leg Must be clean and/or polished Belt to match shoe color Optional to wear a belt Clean and/or polished Clean jeans appropriate to the affiliation the youth is entered to show Ankle length no Capri s No holes No off or faded colors designated Look under FFA, 4-H, or Independent for additional attire instructions. FFA MEMBERS - FFA members may participate in classes and may exhibit as members to the end of the calendar year following the year of graduation from high school. (For example a graduate this year is eligible until December 31st of next year). All FFA exhibitors of livestock must wear the designated uniform of their organization while showing their animals. The designated FFA show uniform is to be worn by all FFA exhibitors and helpers in individual and chapter groups while showing at the San Mateo County Fair. Hats or headgear of any kind shall not be worn with official show uniform while showing. FFA Additional Attire Requirements Full Official Dress White or black jeans FFA jacket FFA scarf (ladies) or tie (men) 4-H Additional Attire Requirements White or black jeans 4-H collar or tie (this is optional but encouraged) 4-H Cap 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT MEMBERS - 4-H members must be at least 5 years old by January 1st of the 4-H program year or in kindergarten and may exhibit as a member until the end of the calendar year in which the member becomes age 19. Per the California 4-H Policy Handbook Section (Revised 11/2000) Primary Members (5 to 8 years old or Kindergarten-3rd grade): "Fairs are open to primary members for exhibit only. The use of Danish and American systems of judging is not acceptable for use with primary members. Primary Members should only receive recognition for their participation." Youth under 9 years of age (Primary exhibitors) may not enter large animal market or breeding classes or participate in auction. Exhibitor must be 9 years old as of Jan. 1, 2016 to sell at auction. The designated 4-H uniform must be worn by all 4-H exhibitors and helpers while showing. 4-H Members must be currently enrolled in a 4-H Project in order to enter an animal in that division. For example, to enter in market hogs, the member must be currently enrolled in the swine project. 4-H Exhibitors must abide by rules set forth by the County 4-H Office to qualify as a 4-H Exhibitor. 139 YOUTH LIVESTOCK & SMALL ANIMALS

3 INDEPENDENT YOUTH EXHIBITORS - Independent youth exhibitors must be at least 9 years old or in 4th grade by January 1, Exhibitors are eligible to compete/exhibit through December 31 of the year in which they turn 18 years of age and/or the same calendar year you have completed high school. Independent exhibitors MUST be a full time resident of San Mateo/San Francisco County. Independent youth entering market animals must participate in Pre-Fair Check-In. Independent youth MUST adhere to the same rules of conduct and schedule as 4-H and FFA members. Independent exhibitors must be chaperoned by a parent or legal guardian at all times while on the fair grounds. The legal guardian must be 21 years of age or older and have been listed on the Intent to Exhibit form which was filled out at time of entry. The designated Independent Youth Exhibitor uniform must be worn by all exhibitors and helpers while showing. Hats or headgear of any kind shall not be worn while showing. Independent Exhibitors are required to fill out the Declaration of Intent to Exhibit form due by the livestock entry deadline. These forms are only available online at Independent Additional Attire Requirements Black jeans Black scarf or tie AWARDS CEREMONY PRESENTATION ATTIRE REQUIREMENTS: No open toe shoes Complete 4-H/FFA or Independent show attire. We would prefer all youth exhibitors to be in complete show attire while attending the awards ceremony. If unable to do so, you must wear your show attire on top (ex. White shirt, tie or scarf, jacket and/or hat) and dark jeans with NO holes. PASSES AND RV PARKING REGULATIONS: Each livestock exhibitor is required to maintain his or her animal on the Fairgrounds throughout the run of the Fair and will receive an ID badge. This badge will be valid for grounds admission only. Any other use or misuse will result in disqualification, removal of animal(s) and confiscation of fair entry privileges. Exhibitors families will also be issued two (2) parent/guardian badges, and each family will be issued one (1) run of the fair season parking pass. The season parking pass will be good for the nine (9) days of fair. Badges will not be given if the parent/guardian has entry privileges as a 4-H leader/ffa advisor. Dog show exhibitors will be issued 2 entry & 1 parking pass per exhibitor per show day. If additional entry passes are needed, family/clubs/chapters are encouraged to purchase tickets online at Additional seasonal parking passes will be available for purchase at Barn Set-Up ONLY. Exhibitors may purchase up to two (2) additional parking passes per family good for the nine (9) days of fair at a price of $25.00 per pass. Badges and exhibitor parking will be distributed in the Youth Livestock Exhibitor packet and will be issued at the MANDATORY MEETING on Saturday June 11, ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS, PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN & LEADERS MUST BE PRESENT AT THIS MEETING to receive their entry badge. If you lose your badge, go to the Competitive Exhibits Office for a replacement. The cost of a replacement is $ Do not throw away broken or damaged badges. Exhibitors must bring the broken or damaged badge to the office to be replaced for a fee of $ Limited overnight parking will be available to Livestock exhibitors. All interested exhibitors must follow all rules & regulations. A parent or legal guardian MUST be present at all times. Applications for RV Parking (NO horse/stock trailers) are due April 11, 2016 by 5 PM. For more information contact the Fair Office at (650) LIVESTOCK DEPARTMENT RULES The fair management reserves the final and absolute right to interpret all rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, and also reserves the right to amend and add to these rules. ALL STATE AND LOCAL RULES APPLY: GENERAL: 1. The San Mateo County Fair Youth Livestock show is open to San Mateo County/San Francisco County residents ONLY. 2. No exhibitor will be allowed in the barn area between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:45am unless accompanied by a member of the fair management. 3. Closed toe shoes and long pants must be worn at all times while handling, feeding and working with your animals. 4. Animals must be kept groomed and in show condition at all times. Animals not washed and groomed will not be allowed to go through the animal vet check at check in or go through the auction. 5. All individual animals must be halter broken. If any animal appears unsafe, it will be sent home at the discretion of the Livestock Supervisor. 6. All beef animals MUST be properly haltered. A halter with a chain chin strap MUST be used at all times. A neck rope or night tie must be used when the beef are tied in their stalls. 7. Only animals owned, fitted and shown by the exhibitor are eligible to participate. 8. All junior exhibitors must have project management records and proof of supervision available for the length of project. When asked by fair management to show proof you must have this available. Records will be checked randomly. 9. Animals too light for the Market Divisions will be placed in the Feeder Divisions. You may NOT remove your animal from the grounds if it does not make the market division weights. Any hog over the maximum of 280 lbs. will be sifted at the scale and must be removed from the grounds immediately. YOUTH LIVESTOCK & SMALL ANIMALS 140

4 10. The Fair is not responsible for animals left after 8:00 a.m., Monday June 20, Youth Exhibitors must be under adult supervision at all times. 12. The Fair reserves the right to split all classes after close of entry, if necessary. 13. Exhibitors must be able to handle their animals solely in the arena during show. No food or treats of any kind may be given to your animal during a show unless instructed by the judge. Once the show has begun no talking to or coaching the exhibitor will be allowed. 14. Muzzling of any animal is prohibited. 15. Youth exhibitors may not enter the same species in FFA, 4-H and Independent. 16. Any inhumane action by the exhibitor may cause immediate disqualification, forfeiture of awards and removal of exhibit and exhibitor from the grounds. 17. Entry signifies compliance with all pharmaceutical, biologic and chemical withdrawal regulations. Livestock exhibitors MUST complete the animal medication certificate. This form is available online at sanmateocountyfair.com/contests/departments/youth-livestock and is due to the Livestock Supervisor at animal check in on Friday, June 10, NO EXCEPTIONS. Fair Management reserves the right to drug test any animal exhibited at the Fair. 18. You are required to show your bill of sale at the vet check in BEFORE entering the grounds. Bill of sale MUST include: Name and address of the buyer and seller, animal identification (ear tags, scrapie ID, ear notches tattoos, etc.) Each market animal MUST have its own individual Bill of Sale showing ownership. 19. All NEW livestock exhibitors, their parents/guardians and ALL livestock project leaders/advisors MUST attend and complete the Mandatory Meeting. Attendance will be verified at time of entry. NEW dog exhibitors showing in the Dog Show are also required to attend the Mandatory Meeting. Horse Show exhibitors are not required. 20. All exhibitors are to remain present at the show until the final award is presented and must remain in full uniform. 21. Youth exhibitors penning their animal(s) at the Fair must attend and care for their own animals all 9 days of the Fair. Exhibitors are solely responsible for feeding and care of their own animals. 22. Any disciplinary action will be up to the discretion of the Livestock Coordinator and/or fair management and may result in the removal of animals and/or exhibitors from the remaining fair and/or future fairs. 23. Market classes will be determined by weights after weigh-in and will be divided into weight lots, within the weight indicated for each species of animals, as desired by Livestock Coordinator for convenience in judging. 24. All breeds will be judged together unless otherwise noted or where specific breed divisions are available. Class may be judged by an individual judge or in stations or as determined by Fair Management. 25. A member of an FFA chapter, Grange, or 4-H unit (club, group, etc.), or independent exhibitor may transfer projects from one organization/independent to another only once during a calendar year ONLY with approval from the Fair Oversight Committee. All transfers must include official notification by the member to the organizations involved of their desire to drop and/or add a project and take place at a time that would allow for the supervision of the project by the respective organization/independent. Transfers must take place not less than 60 days, (or the number of days required for the ownership and supervision of respective species whichever is greater), prior to the exhibit or award recognition of the project. 26. The Exhibitor Code of Conduct found on the back of the entry form and/or online at MUST be filled out and SIGNED by the exhibitor, parent or guardian and the supervising project leader. This form is due with your livestock entry on Monday, April 11, If you enter online, you must print this form out and have it in by the April 11, 2016 deadline. If this form is not received by 5:00pm April 11, 2016 it will not be accepted unless submitted as a late entry and accompanied by an additional $ late entry fee. Late entry forms and fees will NOT be accepted after April 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. 27. Livestock Management records will be randomly checked. Keep all records accurate and up to date. FITTING AND GROOMING: 1. Youth exhibitors are required to care for and groom their animals without adult assistance while at the Fair. Limited physical assistance of a minor nature may be rendered by other youth exhibiting livestock at the San Mateo County Fair. The exhibitor/owner MUST be actively engaged at all times while receiving assistance. Individual consideration may be given to providing assistance in extenuating circumstances; however, written requests stating the circumstances must be submitted to, and approved in writing by, the Livestock Supervisor prior to any assistance occurring. Adults are not, and will not, be allowed to provide any kind of physical assistance for any animal, at any time, while at the Fair. Verbal instruction is allowed. Violation of this rule will result in a verbal and written warning (first offense) by the Livestock Coordinator. Any further violation of this rule will result in the immediate disqualification of the exhibitor and their entries from all classes from the show and auction. In the case of immediate or emergency safety reasons an adult may physically assist a youth exhibitor without the individual being disqualified from the show and/or auction. However, all cases of emergency or safety assistance must be reported to the Livestock Supervisor as soon as safety permits. LIVESTOCK BARN DUTY: At least 6 youth and 3 to 6 adults in the Livestock Barn and Tent during all open hours of the Fair are required. A random drawing will be conducted based on the total number of exhibits entered per Club/Chapter. Shift assignments will be done by club, not specific exhibitors. It will be the responsibility of Clubs/Chapters & Independent Exhibitors to assign specific exhibitors & parents to each shift. Changes in shifts must be submitted & approved by the Livestock Coordinator 72 hours before shift. Independent exhibitors will be considered a club. Failure to hold barn duty may result in exhibitor disqualification and removal of livestock. Clubs are required to fill ALL shifts given to them. 141 YOUTH LIVESTOCK & SMALL ANIMALS

5 ANIMAL WELFARE POLICY: 1. It is the intention of the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair Association to advocate and ensure practical animal husbandry and the proper and humane handling, transportation and treatment of animals while on the grounds. The following guidelines have been established for all livestock exhibitors, their parents, leaders, advisors and volunteers: a. Animals must be supplied with fresh, clean food and water regularly. b. Bedding must be clean, free of waste and debris and animals must be kept clean and well groomed at all times. c. Employ proper handling and grooming techniques, causing the least amount of stress to the animal. d. Animals are to be fed at 7:00 am and 5:00 pm daily. NO EXCEPTIONS e. Empty feed pans and buckets must be removed from pens by 8 AM and 6 PM. MULTIPLE ANIMALS: Any youth exhibiting multiple animals that must show in the same class simultaneously must secure help from another current exhibitor who is also exhibiting the same species. That exhibitor must follow all the attire requirements for the organization they represent. Youths securing the assistance of another exhibitor for showing must notify the Competitive Exhibits Office 24 hours prior to show. JUDGING: The American Judging System will be used unless otherwise noted. ENTRY/INSURANCE FEES & ENTRY ACCEPTANCE: 1. Entry and insurance fees will be charged in the Youth Livestock Department. Fees must accompany the entry forms. Entry Fees: Large Animals $7.00 per animal, Small Animals $4.00 per animal and Showmanship $2.00 per division. Insurance Fees: $35.00 per exhibitor exhibiting livestock, including dog exhibitors. No insurance fee is required for rabbit, chicken and turkey exhibitors. 2. All Entry forms for animals are due April 11, 2016 by 5:00pm. 3. Entry forms are accepted via drop-off, mail, fax or online at Per California State Rule II. Eligibility: Exhibitors are responsible for obtaining entry form(s) & rules from the Fair, and submitting form(s) and any required fees by the closing date as specified by Fair Management. The closing date for all livestock entries is April 11, Fair Management encourages Exhibitors to enter online and not wait until the deadline. It is the Exhibitors responsibility to receive confirmation of entries submitted to the Fair. 4. Entry forms not received by the Fair by 5:00pm April 11, 2016, will not be accepted unless submitted as a Late Entry and submitted via mail or drop-off only, and accompanied by an additional late entry fee of $ Late Entry Form(s) are available online at and deadline is April 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. ALL LIVESTOCK ENTRY FORMS INCLUDING LATE ENTRY FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER APRIL 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. ENTRY LIMIT: Exhibitors are allowed to ear tag more than 2 market lots per specie at the Pre-Fair Check-In, but are only allowed to bring 2 market lots of a particular specie to Fair. Each of the following is considered one market lot: (1)beef, (1)hog, (1)sheep, (1)goat, (1)turkey, (1)single fryer rabbit, (1)pen of meat pen rabbits, or (1)pen of meat pen chickens. Each exhibitor will be allowed to show and sell two of the same market species with a maximum of six total market lots. There is no entry limit for breeding animals. REGISTERED ANIMALS: 1. Once application for purebred registry has been made, animals will be considered as registered and original registration papers will be required to show. Such animals are not eligible to show in grade and unregistered divisions. 2. Original registration certificates must be presented to Management when animals arrive at fair (and must be kept on hand) See State Rules. BEDDING FEES: All exhibitors are required to purchase bedding supplied by the fair. Bedding fees will be charged at time of entry for all animals. PEN CLEANING: PENS ARE TO BE CLEANED by 8:00am DAILY and to be kept clean by the exhibitor at all times, or premiums and/or auction privileges may be withheld. Common area cleaning STARTS at 8:00am and done by 8:30am. AUCTION 1. Each of the following is considered one market lot: (1)beef, (1)hog, (1)sheep, (1)goat, (1)turkey, (1)single fryer rabbit, (1)pen of meat pen rabbits, or (1)pen of meat pen chickens. Each exhibitor will be allowed to show and sell two of the same market species with a maximum of six total lots. 2. All market beef, swine, lamb and goat champions will go through the Livestock Auction and sent to the federally inspected processing plants contracted by the fair; NO LIVE PICK UPS ARE ALLOWED. Market Champions are: Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion of each specie. In addition, ALL Market Beef awarded market ready by the judge will go through the Livestock Auction and sent to the federally inspected processing plants contracted by the fair; NO LIVE PICK UPS ARE ALLOWED. 3. Market animals which qualify to sell must be sold through the auction. Animals that do not cross the auction block when qualified to sell may result in disciplinary action by the livestock supervisor and/or fair management. 4. ANY market animal going live MUST be picked up by your buyer. NO THIRD PARTY TRANSPORTING OF ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED. 5. All exhibitors selling animals at auction will be charged for (1) one buyer luncheon ticket PER market lot. This amount will be taken out of your auction check. YOUTH LIVESTOCK & SMALL ANIMALS 142

6 WEIGHTS: 1. Weights provide a guideline of which each species is generally finished and ready for market. Breeds differ in finished weights. Some large animal species have no maximum weights with the exception of HOGS (maximum weight is 280 lbs) Listed below are the maximum weights which the buyer will pay. Example: if a steer weighs 1500 lbs it may go through the sale, be considered for Reserve and Grand Champion, but at the auction the buyer will only pay for 1350 lbs. Small animals must have maximum weight limits to be accepted by processors. No outside scales will be allowed to be brought in to weigh animals. Large animals under the minimum weight will be moved from the market classes to the feeder classes and be determined as NON MARKET READY. Large animals that do not make the minimum weight MUST remain on the grounds once they cross the scale. You may not remove your animal. 2. Only one weighing is allowed except for protests which must be reweighed immediately without leaving the weighing area. WEIGHT WILL BE RECORDED EXACTLY AS STATED ON SCALE, NO VARIANCE WILL BE GIVEN. 3. Hogs that weigh in OVER the maximum weight (280 lbs) will be sifted at the scale and must be removed from the grounds immediately. 4. No wet animals will be allowed on the scales. No animal overly fatigued or stressed will be weighed. Weights: Beef Minimum: 950 lbs No Maximum Weight Sale Maximum paid by the buyer: 1350 lbs Hogs Minimum: 215 lbs Maximum Weight: 280 lbs Sale Maximum paid by the buyer: 275 lbs Sheep Minimum: 100 lbs recommended maximum 160 lbs Sale Maximum paid by the buyer: 150 lbs Goats Minimum: 55 lbs No Maximum Weight Sale Maximum paid by the buyer: 105 lbs Rabbits Minimum: 3 lbs Maximum: 5 lbs Meat Pen Poultry Minimum: 3½ Maximum: 8 lbs/bird Turkeys No Minimum Weight Maximum: 35 lbs QUALIFICATION TO SELL: 1. Beef, Hogs, Sheep, Goats, Meat Birds and Meat Rabbits must be market ready. The judges determination of Market Ready is always final and he or she may designate Non Market Ready animals even if the animal is within the weights listed. Non Market Ready animals MAY NOT SELL at the Youth Livestock Auction. 2. All market animals sold through the auction marked for resale, will be sold for market price. 3. All animals sold at auction for resale will be consigned to a licensed packing house. 4. No breeding stock will be sold through the auction. 6. The exhibitor must be present at the auction to sell his/her OWN animal, and both shall be in show condition. If this ruling is not complied with, said animal will be sold as a resale animal. 7. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder without reserve. Dispute as to bids will be settled by the auctioneer. After an animal has been declared "sold" by the auctioneer, no adjustments can be made to the billing. 8. To help defray the auction costs, the San Mateo County Event Center & Fair Association will charge a 9% commission of the gross sale; 5.5% to be retained by the Fair Association to cover livestock operation costs and sale marketing; 2% to be deposited in a livestock reserve account and 1.5% to livestock capital improvements. 9. The Youth Livestock Auction reserve account is to be used to cover bad debts and emergency situations determined by the Fair Management. 10. Federal law prohibits the shipment of meat in interstate commerce which is altered with drugs or chemicals. The meat from any animal slaughtered at a Federal inspected plant (fair-auctioned animals) is considered to be in interstate commerce. Any individual responsible for shipment of altered meat or inoculating the animals could be charged. Penalties can be assessed. 11. By entering market beef, sheep, goat, hogs, rabbits and poultry the exhibitor certifies: all drugs and feed additives (pour-on's or dips) received by this/these animal(s) while in the exhibitors possession, have been used in conformity with the feed or drug manufacturers' directions, and withdrawal times were as required by the Food & Drug Administration. 12. All animals sold at the auction will have their ears tagged at Pre-Fair Check-in under the supervision of the designated tagging officials. All exhisting ear tags will be removed at pre-fair ear tagging and replaced with a SMCF tag (only scrapie tags will remain in the ear). No junior exhibitor may exhibit an animal in a market class once it has been sold as a market animal through a fair junior livestock auction. These animals may be shown following the 30 consecutive day ownership requirement as breeding animals only. 13. Soliciting and securing buyers to attend the Auction is the sole responsibility of the seller. 14. San Mateo County Event Center & Fair Assoc. Terms & Conditions of Sale: a) The San Mateo County Event Center & Fair Assoc. will not be held responsible for payment of lost, condemned, or the death of any animal going through the Auction. Exhibitors who wish to purchase mortality insurance on animals should obtain same from commercial insurance firms. b) Although ownership changes after the auction, it must be understood that the Fair Association still cannot be held responsible for payment of lost, condemned, or the death of any animals going through the auction. 7 15. All Exhibitors selling an animal at Auction MUST help with the Auction and be present throughout the entire auction. Each exhibitor is required to sign-up for a 2 hour shift. It's the responsibility of the Club/Chapter leader or designee to ensure all Exhibitors participate. Adult participation is also required. Time slots will be given to each Club/Chapter by the Livestock Coordinator. The schedule will be enforced by the Livestock Supervisor. 16. All poultry sold at the auction must be processed at a State Certified processing plant as designated by the San Mateo County Event Center & Fair Association. 17. Auction checks will be issued within two weeks following the close of Fair. 18. Meat lockers only allow the following splits of animals: Beef-split into quarters and Sheep, Goats & Hogs-split in halves. Applications and forms are available at (Leader verification forms will be available from the Exhibits Office on Friday, June 10, 2016) Explanation of Requirements: The essay must describe the activities and participation of the youth exhibitor throughout the year to promote livestock and educate the general public on the importance of livestock programs, the Fair and the 4- H/FFA programs or other youth organizations. Two letters of recommendation or references are required to verify his/her participation in his/her programs. The references will be checked. Service hours are to be recorded on the form available with the application. Upon turning in the application keep this form to record the volunteer service hours for the Fair. Leader verification form must be filled out and signed by your livestock leader to verify you fulfilled any and all requirements within your livestock project. Exhibitors must declare the specie and which specie he/she will represent by 9 pm. Wednesday June 15, If the 1 st Place winner is ineligible or declines to enter Master Showmanship, the next highest senior showman becomes eligible. If the forfeiture is due to winning Master Showmanship in prior years the Livestock Coordinator will continue through the ranking until there is 1 eligible showman identified in that specie. 6. Exhibitor must show an animal other than his/her own. 7. 14 POULTRY 1. OWNERSHIP: Market turkeys must be owned by the exhibitor at least 90 days prior to first day of Fair. Breeding birds must be owned by the exhibitor at least 60 days prior to the first day of Fair. Meat pen chickens must be owned by the exhibitor at least 45 days prior to 1 st day of Fair. Exhibitors may bring 2 pens of 2 meat chickens each. Proof of ownership must be submitted at time of check in. If breeding your own market poultry, your project leader must sign proof that you bred, raised and cared for these animals. 2. MARKET WEIGHT: Any turkey weighing over 35 lb. will not be considered for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion but may go to auction. Meat pen chickens weight limits are 3½ -8 lbs. Any chicken over 8 lbs. will not be considered for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion but may go to auction. Overweight turkeys and meat pen chickens will incur an additional processing fee. 3. ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS: ALL Show Birds are required to have a numbered leg band at time of entry. The fair will not supply leg bands for Show Birds, it is the exhibitors responsibility to properly identify their Show Birds. Show Birds not properly leg banded will not be allowed to enter or exhibit at the fair. All Show Bird entries MUST state the proper BREED, VARIETY, CLASS and LEG BAND NUMBER on entry forms and online. Refer to THE AMERICAN STANDARD OF PERFECTION for clarification of your breeds and varieties. Online entries: Place Variety in the Description area. NOTE: Get correct variety information, do NOT guess. Poultry must be entered in a breeding division to qualify for showmanship and you must make a separate entry for the showmanship class. Rules, definitions and judging procedures are described in the latest edition of the Official Show Rules and the Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association, Inc. shall apply to all district and county fair poultry shows, except in such instances where they are in conflict with the rules and regulations prescribed by Department of Food and Agriculture. 5. ALL POULTRY MUST BE CLEAN AND DRY when brought to the fair. Crate properly to stay clean and dry. 6. Health check of each bird will be done at check-in. 7. All Market Poultry will be assigned leg bands at check-in. 8. Birds will be shown and judged in the proper division and class for breed, variety, age and sex only. If no division is offered, no awards may be made. 9. Meat pens entered as a meat pen will be judged as a meat pen. 10. Breeding birds are to be judged 2/3 on a utility basis and 1/3 on a standard basis. No production records required. 11. A Judge may excuse a bird from competition if it appears fatigued or out of condition. 12. Any bird showing evidence of disease will be, at any time, immediately removed from the grounds. This includes any birds that cannot stand to eat and drink on their own. 13. All exhibitors are responsible for cleaning and feeding of their own birds. 14. No birds will be released at the end of the Fair until all cages are cleaned and feeders and waters are taken out of each cage and emptied. 15. Delivery of meat pen chickens and market turkeys that go through auction is the responsibility of the exhibitor. This must be done in a timely manner. 16. All poultry sold at auction must be processed at a State certified processing plant as designated by the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair Association. Birds will go to processing on a truck contracted by the fair and will return to the fairgrounds in a refrigerated truck that afternoon to be sorted and distributed to the exhibitors. Birds MUST be picked up by the exhibitor between 3pm and 6pm and delivered to their buyers. If the exhibitor is not able to pick up their birds, arrangements MUST be made PRIOR to that day with the Livestock Supervisor. 17 RABBITS ENTRY LIMIT: Lightweight and heavyweight breeding rabbits - no limit Market- 2 meat pens (3 rabbits per pen) or 2 single fryers or a combination of one meat pen (3 rabbits) and one single fryer. Any combination may be sold at auction not to exceed two lots. Rabbits must be entered in the breeding class to qualify for showmanship and you must make a separate entry for the showmanship class. Refer to Division All rules, definitions and judging procedures, as prescribed in the latest edition of the Guide Book and Standard of the American Rabbit Breeders' Assn., Inc., shall apply to all district and county fair rabbit shows, provided they do not conflict with any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Department of Agriculture. 2. All animals must be identified by permanent ear marking conforming with entry form on arrival at the show. Any rabbit with an illegible ear tattoo will not be permitted entry to the fair. Tattooing is not allowed on fairgrounds or in the fair parking lot and may result in removal of all livestock from the fair. Any duplication of ear markings by an exhibitor in the SAME CLASS must be corrected before judging. 3. Health checks of each rabbit to be cooped will be done at check-in. 4. Any rabbit showing evidence of disease at any time will be immediately removed from the grounds. 5. Exhibitors must cage their rabbits for the duration of the Fair. 6. All exhibitors with cooped animals are responsible for cleaning and feeding of their own rabbits. 7. Animals will be shown and judged in the show room divisions. Divisions will be established by number of rabbits entered in any given breed and given variety within that breed. Breed and variety divisions will be established for any breed or variety which has five or more rabbits entered by three or more exhibitors. Those with less than five entries will be dropped, and entries will be placed with others of that breed or in the appropriate "any other" division. 8. Exhibitors must carry their own animals to and from the judging table or get assistance from another youth exhibitor. 9. A judge may disqualify a rabbit from competition because of temporary or curable defects but will be counted as an entry. 10. Rabbits may be disqualified because of wrong sex or variety of breed, and those absent at the time of judging. If disqualified, they do not count when computing the number of exhibitors in the class. 11. Proof of ownership for meat pen rabbits must be submitted at the time of check-in. If breeding your own meat rabbits, your project leader must sign proof that you bred, raised and cared for these animals. 2. MARKET WEIGHT: Rabbit weight limits are 3-5 lbs. Any rabbit over 5 lbs. will not be eligible for Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion, but may go to auction. 3. Entry limit of 2 pens of 3 rabbits per pen and/or 2 single fryers and/or 1 pen of 3 rabbits and 1 single fryer rabbit per exhibitor. Any combination not to exceed 2 entries per exhibitor. For example: (1)meat pen and (1)single fryer equal two entries or (2)meat pens of three equal two entries or (2)single fryers equal two entries. 4. Meat pens (3 rabbits) will be sold as a PEN only & single fryer rabbits will be sold individually. 5. Rabbits cannot be over 69 days old. 6. 19 DOG CARE & TRAINING 1. Highest level of obedience classes to be judged first. Showmanship to follow Obedience H and FFA Exhibitors must be currently enrolled in a Dog Care and Training project in San Mateo County. Dogs (pure bred or mixed breed) must be owned and trained by the exhibitor. All dogs must be groomed by exhibitor. 3. Judging and scoring will be based on AKC regulations with 4-H modifications. Judges' decisions are final. This is not an AKC sanctioned show. 4. All exhibitors must be in full uniform. 5. Management recognizes that each dog and handler qualifies for specific classes and, therefore has no minimum or maximum number of entries required to maintain the availability of classes. 6. Uncontrolled or aggressive dogs will be excused from competition. Any member caught abusing or neglecting their dog(s) will not be allowed to compete and will be brought before management for appropriate action, (see Code of Conduct Rules). 7. Bitches in season will be judged in obedience after the regular classes. 8. All members will be required to clean up after dog(s). 9. An exhibitor may exhibit more than one dog in obedience classes, but each dog is limited to classes it is eligible to compete in. 10. Dogs must be entered in an obedience class to enter showmanship. 11. All dogs must have appropriate collar without prongs and a six-foot leather lead. Those receiving scores as follows will be awarded the appropriate award indicated: Novice A & B, Graduate Novice, Sub-Novice A & B, and Open Obedience. 1 st Place $10 2 nd Place $7 3 rd Place $5 Best of Division High Point Award High Point Rally Trophy Trophy DIVISION 959 PRE-NOVICE OBEDIENCE Open to first year member ONLY. In this division you will be able to pat their legs and speak to their dog. 1. Pre-Novice A: Primary exhibitors only 2. Pre-Novice B: All other Pre-Novice exhibitors DIVISION SUB-NOVICE OBEDIENCE All exercises on six-foot leash, healing, figure eight, recall, stand for examination, long sit one minute, long down three minutes. In this division they will not be able to pat their legs but will be able to speak to their dog during healing only. 1. Sub-Novice B: All other sub-novice exhibitors 2. Dogs that have received two qualifying scores in Graduate Novice at any previous fair or dogs that have received a qualifying score in Open at any obedience competition (4-H or other) must enter Open Obedience. No CDX dogs to be entered in this class. 1. Graduate novice 2. Primary exhibitor DIVISION RALLY OBEDIENCE 1. Each team of dog and handler will move continuously and perform the exercises indicated by a sign at each location. 2. After the judges Forward command, the team is on its own to complete the entire sequence correctly. 3. Unlimited communication from the handler to the dog between signs is to be encouraged and no penalized. Handlers are permitted to talk, praise, encourage, clap hands, pat their legs or use any verbal means of encouragement BUT they may NOT touch the dog or make corrections or use any type of bait or treat. 1. Novice 2. Primary DIVISION 964 RALLY ADVANCED 1. This is for exhibitors that have had three or more qualifying scores in Rally Novice. 2. The dog must be off leash at all times. 3. The dog and exhibitor must complete the signs including one jump. The exhibitor can tap his/her leg, clap their hands, give hand signals and voice commands. 4. NO TREATS ALLOWED for dogs. 1. Advanced 2. Primary DIVISION 965 RALLY EXCELLENT 1. This division is for exhibitors that have had three or more qualifying scores in the Rally Advanced division. 2. The dog is off leash at all times. 3. The dog and exhibitor must complete the obstacle course including two jumps. 4. The exhibitor can only use had signals and minimal voice commands. 1. Excellent 2. Primary DIVISION 966 WEAVE POLE AND TUNNEL RELAY 1. The dogs are off leash at all times and it is a competition against time. 2. The dogs must go through the weave poles and then through a tunnel and back through the weave poles. 3. The exhibitor can use voice commands, hand signals, patting of his/her legs and clapping. 4. 21 SMALL ANIMAL SHOWMANSHIP 1. Showmanship MUST be pre-entered on the entry form or online. There is a $2.00 entry fee per specie. 2. Only animals owned, fitted and shown by the exhibitor may be entered in the any Youth Livestock classes. 3. Animals must be pre-entered in a breeding or market class to qualify for showmanship. 4. Dogs must be entered in Obedience to qualify for Showmanship. Dog show leads are acceptable. 5. Exhibitors will move up at the judges discretion, not to exceed 3 exhibitors moving up per class. The judge has the final authority. 6. If an exhibitor wins first place in any showmanship class, they must show the following year at the next highest class level. (Example: If a 9 year old wins 1 st place in Junior and is moved to Intermediate, they can no longer show as a Junior the following year regardless of age.) 7. Small Animal: The 1 st and 2 nd place San Mateo County and/or San Francisco County Senior Showmanship winners may be eligible to compete in the Small Animal Master Showmanship. See Small Animal Master Showmanship rules for information on eligibility. SMALL ANIMAL MASTER SHOWMANSHIP 1. San Mateo County and/or San Francisco County residents who have placed 1 st or 2 nd in Senior Showmanship are eligible to compete (Rabbits, Dogs, Poultry, Pygmy Goats). 2. Member who has won Small Animal Master Showmanship (formerly called Round Robin) in particular specie in a prior year cannot enter in that specie again but must establish eligibility in a different division. Members may enter as specie winner as many times as they qualify until they win. Example: If an exhibitor won 2015 Master Showmanship by qualifying in rabbits at the 2015 fair, he/she must qualify in a species other than rabbits to be eligible to compete in Master Showmanship in If a member qualifies in more than 1 division he/she can select the division he/she wishes to represent. 4. Exhibitors must declare the specie and which specie he/she will represent by 9 pm Wednesday, June 15, If the 1 st or 2 nd Place winner is ineligible or declines to enter Master Showmanship, the next highest San Mateo County and/or San Francisco County senior showman becomes eligible. If the forfeiture is due to winning Master Showmanship in prior years the Livestock Coordinator will continue through the ranking until there are 2 eligible showman identified in that specie.
