5 Memorial Day Parade Menomonee Falls Our GSD's tongues were red with anticipation, the clouds were white, the sky's were blue. A perfect day to walk down the streets of Menomonee Falls. We had a great enthusiastic crowd to cheer us on as we paraded our wonderful dogs this Memorial Day. Parades are a great opportunity to socialize your dog and get them out into different situations. We had balloons flying, drones buzzing, people clapping, kids yelling and bands playing. A great test for the temperament of your dog. They all made us proud. For the dogs that were extra friendly we stopped along the side of the parade route to let the kids (and adults) visit for a few seconds before we marched on. Even if your dog is a bit unsure, you can walk and enjoy the parade right down the middle of the road. It's like a 2 mile CGC test... On a personal note...i had a lady call out that they loved German Shepherds. I called back, "well then you should pet one"...the lady was with a gentleman in a wheel chair, he was missing one leg. I don't know if he was a Veteran or not. The lady picked up his hand and she helped him stroke Mindy and Gretta. We exchanged a few pleasantries and as I walked back into the parade she called out "God Bless you for doing that for us, he really enjoyed that"... And this my friends is why I take the time for parades and nursing homes...there is no better feeling than having your dog help another human being. Thank you again for all that took the time out of their busy weekend to march in this parade. 9 Hi all, It s getting to be that time of year to start thinking about the Fall Show. This year my wife JoAnna and I have taken the job of running the Trophy Committee. We ve made our picks on what we are going to award and we now need to start the process of collecting donations. We need to collect for approximately 39 special awards at around a 20 dollar price point, and 84 1st place awards for around a 15 dollar price point. Rather than try to chase individual members down at training, we have decided the easiest way to go about this will be to send out a mass and give everybody some different options to send their donations. Please read your s! First, you can do it the old fashioned way and give us cash when you see us at training. We are almost always there on Sunday mornings for obedience at 11 AM and occasionally there on Tuesday nights depending on work. Or the convenient way would be to use the link on the GSDCW website there is a link on the homepage that says Fall Trophy Donations. The next option would be to mail a personal check or money order. This Trial is our Club s best fundraiser of the year but it also requires MANY, MANY volunteers to make sure it is successful. - Come join us if you can stay an hour or all day every bit of your help is appreciated. Some areas that we need help with for both days are: Bar Setters, Shoot Resetting, Run Timers, Scribes for marking Run Times, Leash Runners and a few other jobs. None of the jobs are hard!!
