1 Invitation to the 10 th IRO Mission Readiness Test (Module 4) Date: Depending on the group size, the Mission Readiness Test (MRT) will be held in two groups. Please mark the desired date of your NRO on the registration form. We try to consider all wishes. The number of participants is limited to 36 dog handlers. A rescue dog group consists of 3 dog handlers and helpers/translators. Additional dog handlers from another NRO can be assigned to a group. Registration takes place in order of arrival (postmark). participants from IRO NROs must show a proof of a positive test result in the discipline RH-T B in accordance with the IPO-R judged by an IRO/FCI judge. Participants from INSARAG certified USAR Teams must show proof of the respective national standard. Please enclose this proof to the registration documents. Each participant is responsible for his/her dog s insurance and the dog s vaccination. The participation fee is 50,- per dog handler and has to be paid at the RDC. After successful completion of the MRT the registration fee will be refunded. 3 General Information The Czech IRO member organisation Svaz záchranných brigád kynologů České republiky (SZBK ČR) has taken over the on-site organisation of the IRO Mission Readiness Test (Module 4). Veterinary check All dogs that participate in the MRT have to have a valid anti-rabies vaccination and other general vaccinations should not be older than 12 months. At the beginning of the MRT the current state of health of the dogs will be checked. In case of special occurrences additional veterinary checks can be requested by the classifiers at any time. A veterinarian will be available during the whole course of the MRT. Reception and Departure Centre / RDC The IRO Mission Readiness Test begins with the arrival and registration of participants at the IRO Reception and Departure Centre (RDC). For this the below mentioned has to be followed: - Transport of participants to the RDC is within the responsibility of the participating NRO. - Passports of the dog handlers (DH) (which have to be valid for at least 6 months) and vaccination cards (anti-rabies vaccination) of the dogs for the whole group have to be presented in the RDC by the participating NRO. - At the RDC equipment will be checked. Only participants with equipment that ensures complete will be transported to the Base of Operations (BoO). Deficient equipment of the participants (personal safety clothes, provision or accommodation) can lead to disqualification of the participating team. - After inspection and registration at the RDC the participants will be transported to the BoO by the national organizer. Participants are not allowed to go to the BoO with their own vehicles. - For the duration of the MRT the vehicles of participants will be parked at a safe parking lot near to the RDC. Protection Equipment for Participants - Helmet: safety helmet according to EN397 or EN12492 or similar national standards - Shoes: protection class S3 (toe protection cap and protection against perforation) - Gloves: suitable for light rubbles and for roping; changing the gloves is allowed - Protection wear: long closed clothes suitable for the weather conditions. Optional high visiblity level according to EN 471/2. Base of Operation (BoO) - Provisions and accommodation of the participants at the BoO have to be organized by the participants themselves. - Motor aggregates (e.g. power engines) have to be placed at a sufficient distance to the next tent due to noise exposure. - During the whole MRT the compliance with the criteria regarding the BoO as mentioned in the INSARAG Guidelines will be checked. General evaluation criteria - Solely the rescue dog teams will be tested during the MRT. - The assessment of classifiers at the respective working sites is final. No objections can be raised concerning the assessments.

4 March for physical condition/ endurance - The group is brought to a place that is unknown to them before a search work. The place is in a distance of 10 km to the work site where the search work has to be carried out. - The dog handlers will be given a map and GPS or UTM coordinates respectively which lead to the arrival point. - GPS system and/or compass are part of the team equipment. - The period of time that is scheduled for the march will be announced on site. - After having reached the arrival point (worksite) the dog handlers will conduct a search work. Please be aware that you have sufficient provisions and all needed equipment inside your day pack to be able to work for up to 24 hours away from the BoO. First aid (human) practical and theoretical evaluation The practical first aid evaluation comprises two tasks per participant. This exercise can happen at any time and can be scenario based. Tasks are selected from the following fields of basic life support: - The priorities of first aid - Burns - Fractures - Heatstroke / heat stress / exhaustion - Pressure points - Bandaging /splinting - CPR resuscitation - Treatment of unconscious casualty - Head & Spinal injuries - Hypothermia - Snake-bites - Internal bleeding - Chest wounds - Shock First aid (dog) practical and theoretical evaluation The practical first aid evaluation comprises two tasks per participant. This exercise can happen at any time and can be scenario based. Tasks are selected from the following fields: - Signs of health and vital signs - Safety for handling injured dogs - Common injuries - Snake bite - Heatstroke and welfare in hot climates - Shock - Poisoning - Vaccinations - Parasites - Breathing, bleeding, breaks and burns - Pressure points - CPR

5 Roping exercise - Ascend / Descend (up or down) over a distance of up to 10 metres for dog handler and dog in connection with a short search immediately afterwards. - The harnesses for dog and dog handler have to be brought by the participants. - The instructors from the fire brigade HZS ČR supervise the evaluation and are responsible for all safety regulations. - Roping equipment that is declined by the instructors for safety reasons cannot be used. - The instructions of the instructors have to be obeyed. - This exercise will be done as a secured lowering this means it is no active roping. Safety and working line is secured through experts. INSARAG Marking & Signalling System and communication - The knowledge about the international INSARAG Marking and Signalling System of DH will be tested. - The INSARAG Guidelines can be used for help.
