The Yorkshire Agricultural Society reserves the right to cancel any section that has insufficient entries. Exhibitors must be members of a Working Terrier Club, Terrier Breed Club or be a Hunt Terrierman, Gamekeeper or Pest Controller at the time of entry. The name of the Club or profession must be indicated on the entry form. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES WILL TAKE PLACE IMMEDIATELY AFTER JUDGING IS CONCLUDED. In the event of the Judges not being able to come to a conclusion for the Show Champion, a special Judge Off will be decided on the day by the Secretary, Chief Steward and Stewards. The Society reserves the right to appoint a replacement for any judge being unable to act. KENNELS A number of kennels are available for exhibitors with five or more Terriers. Exhibitors requiring a kennel must state in the space provided on the entry form. Applications for kennelling will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Should any kennel not be taken up by am, it will be re-allocated according to the demand on the day of the show. Any exhibitor who has been allocated a kennel but only brings three or less dogs forward on show day, will forfeit their kennel. Kennels must be used solely to house dogs not exhibitors. NB: Exhibitors must provide their own padlock. See regulation 9 for further details.

PLUMMER TERRIER For the Champion Plummer Terrier - Perpetual Championship trophy kindly donated by Stonyford Plummer Terriers. The Winner will also receive a YAS Tankard.

4 CH7 CH8 SP1 SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP For the Supreme Champion Working Terrier - A Perpetual Championship Trophy kindly donated by Massarellas (Dairy Queen) Limited. The Supreme and Reserve Supreme Champions will also receive YAS Tankards. For the Champion Puppy Terrier - The Winner will receive a YAS Tankard and a Perpetual Trophy kindly donated by Kennel Nutrition Ltd. For the highest placed Terrier at show, entered by a qualifying hunt terrier person (see Reg. 10) - The Bob Westmoreland Perpetual Memorial Trophy, prize money of 10 and a YAS Special Prize Rosette. PAIRS, PROGENY & VETERAN CLASSES The winners of these classes are not eligible for the Supreme Championship. Class 22 Class 23 Class 24 SP2 SP3 SP4 ADULT SIRE OR DAM, with own progeny; the puppy to be aged between six months and 12 months old on the day of the show. MATCHED PAIR, any age. VETERAN, 7 years old or over. For Best Sire or Dam with Progeny - Perpetual Trophy kindly donated by Cambrian Fly Fishers. The Winner will also receive a YAS Tankard and a YAS Special Prize Rosette. For the Best Matched Pair - Perpetual Trophy kindly donated by North Light. The Winner will also receive a YAS Tankard and a Special Prize Rosette. For the Best Veteran Terrier - Perpetual Trophy kindly donated by Foxgrove Terriers. The Winner will also receive a YAS Tankard. UNDER 12.5 CLASSES The winners of these classes are not eligible for the Supreme Championship. All Terriers entered in this section will be measured on show day. Class 25 Class 26 CH9 DOG, under Over 12 months old on the day of the show. BITCH, under Over 12 months old on the day of the show. For the Champion Working Terrier under YAS Championship Rosette and Prize Card. JUNIOR HANDLER CLASS The Junior Handler must show an animal which has been shown in previous class/es at this show. Dependant on the number of entries, this class may be split by age (of the handlers). Class 27 DOG OR BITCH, any breed. Animals must have been shown in previous class/es at this show. FREE CLASS ENTRY. FELL & MOORLAND WORKING TERRIER CLUB MEMBERS This class is open to members of the Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club only, showing animals previously entered in the the Terrier Section. Membership Cards must be shown in the Ring. Please indicate on the entry form if you wish to compete in this class; animal details need not be submitted until the day of the Show. Class 28 DOG OR BITCH, any age, any breed. FREE CLASS ENTRY. The winner of this class will a receive a trophy kindly provided by the Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club.

5 RULES AND REGULATIONS The General Rules and Regulations of the Show also apply to this section. 1 In addition to the General Rules and Regulations outlined below Working Terriers eligible for entry to this Show must fulfil the following criteria. Only undocked and legally docked Terriers may be entered at this Show. All Terriers or Terrier types born on or after 6 th April 2007 must be legally docked to be entered. Exhibitors must be members of a Working Terrier Club, Terrier Breed Club or be a Hunt Terrierman, Gamekeeper or Pest Controller at the time of entry. The name of the Club or profession must be indicated on the entry form. 2 It is a condition of entry that all Terriers or Terrier Types entered at the Show must be fully vaccinated against Parvo Virus. Exhibitors must have current Vaccination Certificates and the Docking Certificates for the dog/s entered at Show, both of which must be made available for examination if requested by a Show Official. 3 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden and bitches in season cannot be shown. 4 All exhibitors must report to the Declarations Office in the Terrier Show to declare entries and collect their catalogue numbers immediately upon arrival at the Showground, but not later than half an hour prior to the judging session. Substitutions will not be permitted. Exhibits that have been entered into the wrong class (by the exhibitor) may not be transferred to any other class. Judging will commence in three rings at am. 5 All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor. 6 No terrier can be double entered in the Breed classes i.e., entered in Fell Type or AND being entered in the Border Type. Competitors found breaking this rule will be in breach of Rule In the Jack Russell classes Rough includes Broken coated terriers. 8 All exhibits must be restrained on leads or couplings throughout the show and will not, under any circumstances, be allowed into the main area of the showground, either before, during or after the Show. 9 A number of kennels are available for exhibitors with five or more Terriers. Exhibitors requiring a kennel must state in the space provided on the entry form. Applications for kennelling will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Should any kennel not be taken up by am, it will be re-allocated according to the demand on the day of the show. Any exhibitor who has been allocated a kennel but only brings three or less dogs forward on show day, will forfeit their kennel. Kennels must be used solely to house dogs not exhibitors. NB: Exhibitors must provide their own padlock. Exhibitors using cages must ensure that they are of an adequate size and that terriers are carefully supervised at all times. Exhibitors must satisfy themselves as to the adequacy and suitability of kennelling arrangements and while the Society will endeavour to provide adequate kennelling, animals are brought onto the showground at the risk in all respects of exhibitors and on the express condition that the Society will accept no liability or responsibility in respect of kennelling arrangements. 10 A qualifying person will be considered eligible for the special prize provided they can either produce at show: i. A document verifying that they have been appointed terrier person to the hunt in 2012/2013 ii. Evidence that the hunt paid them for their work in 2012/2013 iii. A signed statement from the Master(s) of that hunt of their capacity as official terrier person in 2012/ Puppies under six calendar months of age on the day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. A puppy must be a minimum of six months and not exceeding twelve months of age on the day of the Show to be entered in the puppy classes. 12 Smoking or drinking in the ring is strictly prohibited. Any person breaking this rule may be asked to leave the showground and will forfeit any prize money. 13 Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair or fouling from dogs in their charge, whether from the car park, the exercise area or from any other part of the venue. 14 All dogs entered for exhibition at this Show must conform to the provisions of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which prohibits the exhibiting of any dogs docked on or after 6 th April 2007 where the general public are admitted upon payment of a fee, except for the purpose of demonstrating their working ability. The purpose of this Show is to individually assess and demonstrate to the public each dog s physical ability and suitability to perform its role as a working terrier hunting below ground in accordance with these Regulations.

6 GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS 15 Entry Fees Entry fees are as stated at the front of the schedule. All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate fee before Thursday 30 May or, with regret, we will have to return them. Entry fees will be forfeited by any competitor who fails to exhibit. 16 Acceptance of Entries The Society reserves the right to refuse any entry without providing reasons. Closing dates will be strictly enforced and no entry reminders will be sent. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to check all entry details when confirmation is sent and the Society cannot accept any responsibility for mistakes not notified. Substitution of entries is not allowed. 17 Cancellation or Combining of Classes The Society reserves the right to cancel or combine any classes with insufficient entries or exhibitors. Entry fees will only be refunded if classes are cancelled. 18 Breaking the Rules Any Exhibitor who breaks any of the Society's rules or uses unfair means to win a prize will forfeit all prizes and prize money and may be barred from attending future shows. 19 Prize Money Prize money will be paid by cheque within 6 weeks of the end of the Show. Should prize cheques be required to be written in a different name than that of the exhibitor, please indicate on the entry form. Prize money will be forfeited by any exhibitor removing exhibits before the permitted removal time. 20 Entry to the Show Exhibitors will receive 1 admission ticket each for every spent in entry fees. Additional tickets may be purchased in advance please order with your entry form. Advance prices are as follows: Adult Concession Child 9.00 (Under 5's admitted for free) Family (2 adults & 3 children) All exhibitors are considered to have agreed to abide by the rules of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society in attending the Show. 21 Breed Society/Governing Body Regulations Any exhibitor competing under breed society or governing body affiliation will be considered to have agreed to abide by the rules of that society in addition to the Show rules. 22 Emergency Veterinary Treatment It is a condition of entry that the Society s Veterinary Surgeons may treat any animal in an emergency whether or not the owner/exhibitor is present. Any animal that is receiving veterinary treatment at the time of the show should not be entered unless the owner has had the animal examined by their own Vet and it is safe for them to enter the show. If emergency veterinary treatment is required at the Show exhibitors will be responsible for the cost of any medication or drugs used in the treatment of their animal and payment must be made direct to the Vets at the time of treatment. 23 Welfare of Animals (Transport) Order 1997 Please remember that under this order, animals are not considered fit for transport if they are likely to give birth during transport; or they have given birth within the preceding 48 hours; or they are new born animals in which the navel has not completely healed. 24 Cruelty to Animals/Dogs in Cars Anyone whose dog is entered at this Show should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Any person causing suffering or any form of cruelty to animals will incur a lifetime ban on returning to the Show. This applies to any owner, exhibitor, handler, or member of the public, who causes any animal unnecessary suffering or duress, day or night, on the showground, exercise areas or the vehicle parks. Should any person/s be considered to be breaking this rule, the appropriate YAS Officials will be informed and immediate action will be taken. 25 Disputes and Protests In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Honorary Show Director or Chief executive shall be binding and exclusive. Any protest must be lodged in writing within one hour of the class being judged and accompanied by a deposit of 20. The protest must be handed in at the Show Office addressed to the Show Manager. The protest will be considered by a Committee chaired by the Honorary Show Director and the Committee s decision is final. If the protest is not sustained then the deposit may be forfeited at the Society s discretion.

7 26 Merit In the event of two or more terriers being equally placed after the judging of the classes an independent judge will be appointed by the Stewards to select a winner. The judge has discretion to withhold any prize where he/she consider there to be insufficient merit. The decision of the Judge and/or the Chief Steward is final. 27 Cups and Trophies All Society cups and trophies are perpetual and cannot be won outright. Cups and Trophies may be collected from the Show Office on show days on production of the winner s slip which will be handed to the winner in the ring. Please note: Trophies will not be posted after the Show. Cups/Trophies must be returned to the Society s Office no later than 30 April 2014 at the expense of the exhibitor. THIS IS A CONDITION OF TAKING THE CUP/TROPHY. When returning trophies to the Society please ensure the correct details are supplied for engraving purposes. 28 Dogs/Pets are not allowed on the Showground with the exception of Assistance Dogs and those taking part in competitive classes or events. 29 No Smoking is allowed in any indoor area or Grandstand on the Showground. 30 Conditions of Admittance Persons are admitted to the showground and car parks at their own risk and vehicles, together with their accessories and contents, are parked at the owner s risk. While every care is taken to ensure the safety of people and vehicles the Society will not accept liability for any loss or damage or personal injury however caused. 31 Disclaimer The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society s premises, or while entering and leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person. The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant or to any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the showground by him. Each exhibitor shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions, suits expenses or claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury however caused. THE 2013 GREAT YORKSHIRE SHOW HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY This policy is a legal requirement and outlines the roles and responsibilities within the Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) to ensure compliance with its statutory and moral obligations for health and safety at the Great Yorkshire Show. All Staff (permanent, temporary and contracted), Exhibitors, Stewards, Judges and Visitors are expected to comply with the Show Health and Safety Policy and any legal obligations placed upon them. This policy conforms to the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and other relevant legislation. Organisational Responsibilities Operations Manager Nigel Morgan Facilities Manager Shaun Casper Show & Trade Stands Co-Ordinator Michelle Mackey Show Safety Advisor David Wilson Show & Trade Stands Officer Emma Donnelly Livestock & Entries Co-Ordinator Amanda West It is the overall responsibility of the Operations Manager to ensure that the policy is implemented and individual responsibilities are fulfilled so far as is reasonably practicable. The Operations Manager will ensure that all activities under the management and control of the YAS fulfil their statutory requirements with regard to health and safety at the Great Yorkshire Show. The Operations Manager is responsible through effective planning in ensuring that risks involved in work activities and the control measures to minimise these are in place and are communicated through a process of briefings and a guidance booklet so far as is reasonably practicable. The Operations Manager will ensure that the locations under the control of the YAS and used in connection with the GYS are maintained in a safe condition, entrances and exits used for the movement of people, animals and vehicles are safe and without risk so far as is reasonably practicable. The Operations Manager assisted by the Facilities Manager will provide up to date safety information for staff, exhibitors and visitors if individuals are exposed to new or increased risks or are exposed to any substance that may be hazardous to health. The use of all hazardous substances will be supervised by a competent person at all times.

8 The Facilities Manager is responsible for the management of all Facilities Department staff, contractors and activities at the Show. First Aid First aid and medical facilities for the Great Yorkshire Show are provided by Show Med who will provide extensive coverage for the three days of the show. First aid points are clearly identified on the showground and on maps and in catalogues. All Show Med personnel are qualified first aid or Emergency Care Practitioners. Persons needing hospital care will be transported to Harrogate District Hospital. There is a dedicated Medical Centre on the Showground. Emergency Procedures In the event of a major incident during the Great Yorkshire Show the YAS/GYS emergency procedures will be put into effect. See supplementary document GYS Major Incident Plan (January 2013 Revised). Fire Precautions All staff, temporary workers, contractors and exhibitors must comply with the requirements of the Show Fire Risk Assessment which conforms to the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 including persons in charge of activities within temporary structures and marquees including multi-occupancy units. All fire exits will be clearly marked and the route to them will be kept clear at all times. No person shall place an obstruction in aisles, corridors or walk ways that are designated escape routes at any time. Fire extinguishers and other safety equipment will be located at easily accessible points and will be clearly visible and identified as fire safety equipment. No person should attempt to use any fire safety equipment which places themselves or others at risk. Fire safety equipment must not be moved or tampered with. Any person who discovers a fire should dial 999 and inform Event Control or black gate security reception point if out of hours. Smoke Free Regulations/Policy All enclosed and substantially enclosed areas on the Showground are Smoke Free (No Smoking). This includes all permanent buildings, temporary structures, tents, marquees or similar, stables, cattle sheds, sheep, pig and goat lines and the Main Ring and White Rose Ring Grandstands. Smoking is only permitted on the road networks inside the Showground and on clear open spaces that are not substantially enclosed. Local Authority Inspectors have the power to levy a fixed penalty fine on individuals who contravene these regulations. The requirements apply to all smoking 24 hours a day and the Safety Stewards/Security (TEM/IPC) will be responsible for enforcing these regulations on behalf of the Society. Vehicle Movements/Speed Limits on the Showground Vehicle movements are not permitted on the Showground when the Show is open to the public except essential service and emergency vehicles. The maximum speed limit on the showground for any type of mechanically driven vehicle including ATV s and Quad bikes is 20 mph with the exception of Pavilion Road where it is 15 mph. This should not be exceeded under any circumstances and due care and consideration should be demonstrated by the drivers of all vehicles when the show is open to the public particularly in crowded public area s and when livestock and horses are moving or visible. In public area s if the volume of the public in these area s is so great as to be a hazard or risk to the drivers of mechanical vehicles they should not enter these area s until it is safe to do so. The safety of the public and workers on foot is of primary consideration at all times regardless of the purpose that the vehicle is being used for. Risk Assessment A Risk Assessment has been prepared by the Society that identifies potential hazards that could pose a risk during the build up, breakdown and when the Show is open to the public. A copy of the risk assessment is available on request. The Risk Assessment is a legal document and will be made available in the event of any subsequent claim or investigation against the YAS or an exhibitor or contractor for negligence or damages arising from any act or incident at the Great Yorkshire Show. Please note The Terrier Show is held near the Country Pursuits area of the showground. Parking will now be available near this area, although space will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Yellow Car Park is not available for Terrier exhibitors.
