2 The FCI Education Committee and the FCI Legal Committee have developed a new training: Legal Issues, with a special focus on everything there is to know about the General Rules of International Factoring (GRIF). The format for this training will combine plenum presentations with smaller group discussions and Q&A sessions with practical examples and genuine cases. Members of the FCI Legal Committee will act as presenters and instructors in all sessions of the training. The Training will focus primarily on the GRIF, the background of certain articles, the implications for day-to-day business and the delicate balance in keeping the GRIF an acceptable document for both the group of Export Factors and the group of Import Factors. There will be ample time for Q&A sessions, enabling the participants to raise questions or concerns in connection with the GRIF (and the Interfactor Agreement). The conference offers attendees numerous opportunities to discuss issues of common interest with their peers and with members of FCI Legal Committee representing very experienced Factoring executive. THE AUDIENCE The Training is primarily meant for all FCI members and observers in Asia, but will also be open, as usual, for attendants from other parts of the world. Because of the scope of the Training, attendants should have a direct interest in understanding the finer details of the FCI GRIF. OBJECTIVES This training will benefit those involved in new businesses, operations, risk monitoring, legal, compliance, litigation departments and perhaps external lawyers if appropriate, who wish to develop their existing knowledge of the GRIF affecting the operations of FCI two-factor businesses. It is important that all delegates attending have a basic understanding of the GRIF that affects the industry. Kunming, capital and largest city in Yunnan Province, Southwest China, has been selected as the venue. 4 LOCATION Grand Park Kunming Tel Hong Hua Qiao Fax Kunming China Programme The Grand Park Hotel Kunming is located in the heart of the city, close to the Green Lake (Cuihu) Park, which goes back to the late Yuan Dynasty, and 45 minutes away from Kunming Changshui International Airport. FCI will not arrange transport to and from the conference hotel. See this link: ROOM RATES The room rate is RMB 600 net per room per night, for single occupancy (RMB 660 for twin occupancy), inclusive of buffet breakfast, wifi and 15% service charge. For each delegate a single hotel room will be reserved. Please tick the appropriate box if you wish to share the room with another delegate. Check-in time is hours and check-out time is 1.00 hours. For early arrivals the room must be booked from the previous night; for late departures, an additional night will be charged. The hotel bill for accommodation and all private expenses like bar, telephone, internet, etc., must be settled by delegates themselves directly with the hotel upon departure. The hotel accepts cash and all major credit cards. REGISTRATION Please use the enclosed registration form and make sure that it reaches the FCI Secretariat as soon as possible and certainly not later than Friday, 11 March 016. After receipt of your registration form, the FCI Secretariat will send you an invoice, which will serve at the same time as a confirmation of the registration and accommodation. The registration fee for the training is Euro 650 per delegate and includes dinners/luncheons/coffee breaks during the conference days, use of the conference rooms and conference materials. 5 Programme DRESS CODE AND CLIMATE Smart casual clothing throughout the training. Located at an elevation of 1,890 metres on the Yunnan Guizhou Plateau, Kunming has one of the mildest climates in China, characterised by short, cool dry winters and long, warm and humid summers. Spring is from March to May. It is cool and dry. The weather is changeable, with very big difference of temperature between day and night. Prepare light sweater and coat for spring. About FCI: FCI was set up in 1968 as an umbrella organisation for independent factoring companies around the world. Today we have grown into the world s representative factoring network and association with more than 400 members in 90 countries. When FCI started, domestic factoring was only available in North America and a few European countries. The concept of cross-border factoring was still new and restricted by its lack of geographic reach. Recognising the potential for international factoring, the founding FCI members realised an umbrella organisation was needed, firstly to introduce factoring in countries where it was not yet available, and secondly to develop a framework for international factoring that would allow factoring companies in the country of the exporter and the importer to work closely together. In 016 the activities of IFG (International Factors Group) were integrated into FCI. Today, FCI is truly the global representative body for the Factoring & Receivables Finance Industry.
