Veteran Class For Dogs and Bitches, 7 years of age or older on the day of the show. Champions may compete, if they are within the age limits. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches are eligible for entry in Veterans Classes at Independent Specialty Shows. Saturday Herding Titled Class, Dog Herding Titled Class, Bitch Veteran, 7 yrs & Under 10 yrs, Dogs Veteran, 7 yrs & Under 10 yrs, Bitches Veteran, 10 yrs & Older, Dogs Veteran, 10 yrs & Older, Bitches Sunday Veteran, Dogs Veteran, Bitches Any undefeated dogs that have competed in the show only in additional nonregular classes may compete for Best of Breed. AKC champions of record may be entered in these classes. Best of Breed Competition For dogs that are champions of record and dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners records. Award of Merit (Saturday - 7; Sunday - 4) The Judge may give Awards of Merit at his or her discretion up to the number available for that day. This award goes to Border Collies in the Best of Breed competition that the Judge feels were worthy of final consideration for Best of Breed. Dogs that are awarded Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog, Select Bitch, Awards of Merit, and Best Bred-By-Exhibitor on Saturday will receive qualifying certificates allowing an entry to be made at one of the next two (2) Crufts. Best Bred-By-Exhibitor Competition (Saturday) For winners of the Bred-By-Exhibitor Dog and Bitch classes Best Veteran Competition (Saturday) For winners of the Veteran Dog and Bitch classes Best Puppy Competition (Saturday) For winners of the Puppy 6 to 9 Dog and Bitch classes and Puppy 9 to 12 Dog and Bitch classes

6 Classification Conformation, continued Non-Regular Classes multiple dog entries (Saturday) Stud Dog Class* - For Stud Dogs and at least two but no more than four of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The Stud Dog cannot be shown as the Get of another Stud Dog. Owner of Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of Get. Get only to be judged based on merits of the Get. Each dog making up the Get must be individually entered in one of the regular classes, Best of Breed Competition, or a Non-Regular class (other than Stud Dog) at this show. Brood Bitch Class* - Same as Stud Dog except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. *Chapter 11, Section 8 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a neutered male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed female may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class. Brace For two dogs, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in the brace class must have at least one common owner. Dogs do not need to be entered in any other class. Dogs comprising a Brace Class must be named at the time of entry, and full particulars must be given for each dog on individual entry forms. If a dog which is to be part of a Brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for Brace Class only. An entry form for a dog entered in another class and entered as part of a Brace must be marked accordingly in the space provided for additional classes as Brace Class. Classification Junior Showmanship Novice Junior Class For boys and girls at least 9 years and under 12 years of age on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Intermediate Class For boys and girls at least 12 years and under 15 years of age on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Senior Class For boys and girls at least 15 years and under 18 years of age on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Junior Class For boys and girls at least 9 years and under 12 years of age on the day of the show and who have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in a Novice Class. Open Intermediate Class - For boys and girls at least 12 years and under 15 years of age on the day of the show and who have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in a Novice Class. Open Senior Class - For boys and girls at least 15 years and under 18 years of age on the day of the show and who have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in a Novice Class. Handlers must include their AKC Junior Handler Number on each entry. You may obtain your junior identification number by visiting the AKC online at or calling the AKC, Event Record Department, Notice to Exhibitors, continued Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites and any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations. All dogs entering the United States must have had rabies shots at least thirty days and not more than one year before date of entry. This is a US Customs requirement. The Border Collie Society of America does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC entry form for this event. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s). Dogs may not be left unattended in the Events Center overnight. Dogs may not be left in closed vehicles without proper ventilation. If dogs are found in distress, BCSA will take appropriate action. Handbills, circulars, or any other printed material may not be sold or distributed at these shows except for BCSA printed material. No Flexi-leads will be allowed in the buildings or ring areas. No professional photography or videotaping is permitted without permission No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building. Grooming space must be reserved in the Event Center. See Consolidated Order Form. NO SMOKING is allowed in any building at the Linn County Fairgrounds. Videotaping All rights to TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the Border Collie Society of America (BCSA) or in persons to whom assignments of such right have been made in writing by the BCSA. All persons and animals on the Showgrounds and anytime while the show is in progress, do by attending this show or participating therein, grant the BCSA the right to photograph, televise, videotape, or otherwise use their likeness and voice in any manner without further release or consent. 7 Notice to Exhibitors The safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering this event, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee. The Border Collie Society of America may cancel this event in extreme weather conditions. Entry fees will not be refunded if the event cannot be opened or completed by reason of riots, civil disturbance, fire, and act of God, public emergency, an act of public enemy, or any other causes beyond the control of the organizing committee. Since bitches in season are not allowed to compete in AKC Obedience or Rally Trials, the club will refund all but $5.00 of the entry fee per day for bitches unable to compete for that reason. The Event Secretary must receive written notification by letter hand-delivered, ed, or postmarked at least 30 minutes before the trial commences. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. There is a $25 returned check fee. No refunds will be issued for overpayment of less than $10. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitors whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Event Committee, be asked to leave the event site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. All dogs must be on leash or crated at all times except when in the ring. Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging. Neither the club nor its Event Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. Entries must be made on Official AKC entry forms or copies and must include the signed Agreement and Rules. Junior Handlers must enter their JH# and complete back of form. Include only AKC titles on entries. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms. Whoever may have made such errors. No entry will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entry after the published closing date. Errors in entries made by exhibitor cannot be corrected after closing date. No refunds for duplicate entries. No dogs wrongly entered in a class may be transferred to another class except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows: a correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred from one division of the Puppy Class to another or between the Puppy and Twelve to Eighteen Month Class at a show prior to judging, and except that dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed competition, provided this transfer is made by the Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. Dogs under 6 months of age are not permitted on the show grounds of AKC Licensed Events. Dogs entered in any Sweepstakes Class must also be entered in a Regular conformation class. AKC Champions of Records may be entered in these classes. At the completion of the individual class judging, each of the class winners shall be brought back to the ring for awarding of Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes. Classification for Puppy Sweepstakes Puppy Dog, 6 mos. & Under 9 mos. Puppy Bitch, 6 mos & Under 9 mos Puppy Dog, 9 mos & Under 12 mos Puppy Bitch, 9 mos & Under 12 mos Junior Dog, 12 mos & Under 15 mos Junior Bitch, 12 mos & Under 15 mos Junior Dog, 15 mos & Under 18 mos Junior Bitch, 15 mos & Under 18 mos Division of Entry Money as Prizes The club will retain 35% of the entry fees for expenses. Dogs entered in these classes may be spayed/neutered. Dogs entered in any Sweepstakes class need not be entered in a Regular conformation class. AKC Champions of Record may be entered in these classes. At the completion of the individual class judging, each of the class winners shall be brought back to the ring for awarding of Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes.

8 Veteran Sweepstakes, continued Classification for Veteran Sweepstakes Veteran Dog, 7 yrs & Under 10 yrs Veteran Bitch, 7 years & Under 10 yrs Veteran Dog, 10 yrs & Older Veteran Bitch, 10 yrs & Older Division of Entry Money as Prizes The club will retain 35% of the entry fees for expenses. Class winners will win 50% and the remaining placements will evenly split 15% of their respective class entry fees. Working Dog Sweepstakes Requirements for Working Dog Sweepstakes Any purebred Border Collie at least six (6) months of age on the day of the show and meeting the performance requirements is eligible for the Working Dog Sweepstakes Classes. Dogs entered in these classes may be spayed/neutered. Dogs entered in any Working Dog Sweepstakes classes need not be entered in any other class. AKC Champions of Record may be entered in these classes A winner will be chosen in each Working Dog Sweepstakes class. Prior to each class leaving the ring, a rosette will be awarded to each entry judged in recognition of participation. At the completion of the individual class judging, each class winners shall be brought back to the ring for awarding of Best in Working Dog Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes. Performance Requirements: A minimum of 2 AKC performance titles in at least 2 different venues (Obedience, Rally, Tracking, Herding, Agility). You must bring copies of the AKC performance title certificate to the show to verify eligibility for this competition. These must be AKC titles; herding instinct certificates, CGC and performance titles from other registries do not qualify. Classification for Working Dog Sweepstakes Working Dog, 6 mos & Under 18 mos Working Bitch, 6 mos & Under 18 mos Working Dog, 18 months & Older Working Bitch, 18 months & Older Division of Entry Money as Prizes The club will retain 35% of the entry fees for expenses. Class winners will win 50% and the remaining placements will evenly split 15% of their respective class entry fees. Futurity Requirements for the BCSA Futurity Any purebred Border Collie at least six (6) months of age on the day of the show and meeting the requirements is eligible for the Futurity Classes. Futurity Requirements: Only dogs which come from a litter nominated for the Futurity and have been individually nominated for the Futurity are eligible. Classification for Futurity Dog, 6 mos. & Under 12 mos. Bitch, 6 mos. & Under 12 mos. Dog, 12 mos. & Older Bitch, 12 mos. & Older Futurity, continued Division of Nomination and Entry Money as Prizes All Money prizes for the BCSA Futurity will be mailed to the winners following the National. The club will retain 35% of the nomination/entry fees for expenses. Dogs which, according to their owners records, have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed competition, provided this transfer is made by the Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. Dogs Eligible to Enter These events are open to Border Collies which have been registered with the American Kennel Club and are six (6) months of age or older or have an acceptable foreign registration number (subject to restrictions in Chapter 11, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows). Obedience and Rally classes are also open to Border Collies which have been granted a PAL/ILP number and are six (6) months of age or older.
