Effective for all events held on and after January 1, 2008, The AKC will collect $3.00 Event Service Fee for the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 Event Service Fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes. (There is no recording fee or event service fee for sweepstakes, futurities, brace/team, multi-dog classes, or special attractions.) The current $.50 Recording Fee will continue to be collected. 7 JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION AKC Junior Handler Numbers are now required for entry in Junior Showmanship Competition. This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open. This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatically become eligible, upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class at the same show provided the win is the third (3rd) first place award with competition and further providing there are one or more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class. Junior, Intermediate and Senior Classes. These regular classes are divided by age into Junior, Intermediate and Senior Classes, provided the division is specified in the premium list. A Junior Class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show. The Intermediate Class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show. The Senior Class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show. Master Class. For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open Class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1-October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. No entry may be changed or cancelled unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing by the Superintendent or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hour for entries, except that a correction may be made from one age division to another provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any Junior Showmanship class at the show. Best Junior Handler. A club offering Junior Showmanship may offer a prize for Best Junior Handler, provided there will be competition for this award, a minimum of two class winners present to compete for the award. The prize is described in the premium list. The Junior Handler placed first in each of the regular Junior Showmanship Classes, if undefeated in any other Junior Showmanship Class at that show, shall automatically be eligible to compete for this prize. Each dog handled in a regular Junior Showmanship Class must be entered and shown in one of the Breed or Obedience Classes at the show or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog that must be withdrawn for good and sufficient reason, such as a bitch in season, or with a veterinarian s excuse, may be replaced by another dog meeting the below or ownership requirements. Such substitutions must be requested in writing stating the reason for the substitution and must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. All such requests must be made one-half hour prior to the judging of any regular classes at the show. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Shows or in Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. Each dog must be a Welsh Springer Spaniel. Page 7

Dog with CH and CD: enters PLUS ONE division as all titles leading to the CD are in one performance area (obedience). 2. Dog with major point win and RN (Rally Novice), BN (Beginner Novice) titles: enters PLUS TWO division as the titles are in two different performance areas (rally and obedience). 3. Dog with major point win, TD (Tracking Dog), SH (Senior Hunter), and NA (Novice Agility) titles enters PLUS THREE OR MORE division as the titles are in three different performance areas (tracking, hunting, agility). Judging: Entries will enter the ring separately. Entries will pose for examination and then gait in a standard down and back, then around the ring and exit. Each judge will score each entry using a standardized score card according to the breed standard; the scores will be averaged to determine placements in each division. Only ties for the top 4 placements in each division will be broken by re-judging entries who will be brought into the ring together for comparison. Similar to a runoff, entries will not be required to perform but will be compared side by side. The best male and female from each division will compete for Best All-Around Welsh Springer Spaniel. 17 GROOMING RESERVATION INFORMATION All grooming spots are 5 x 10 Electricity is available in all spaces. Bring your own extension cord for access to electrical panels Warm water is available for bathing 1 st space: price is $10 per spot from Monday to Thursday; 2 nd space - based on availability is $30 The grooming room is by reservation only. There will be no available grooming space available the day of the show. There is no day crating near the show ring and no grooming in the hotel rooms.
