4 MISSION STATEMENT The Aggieland Humane Society provides: humane shelter, care, and placement for stray and unwanted animals. AgHS also promotes the human-animal bond and promotes responsible pet ownership to enhance the quality of life for the people and animals in our community. 5 Diaval (Norris, Adopted August '14) I adopted Diaval so that my guinea pig, Desperaux, would have a friend. My favorite thing about Diaval is all the cute sounds he makes, especially when he is talking to his brother. Diaval's favorite things to do are talk to his brother, eat Timothy hay and veggies, and play in the piggie playpen. He was very shy when I got him but he is a very friendly piggie now :) - Crystal

6 Hunter (Sleepy, Adopted July '13) I met my best friend Hunter after going to Aggieland Humane Society on a whim to see if there was a dog I could share my home with. There in the corner was a little pup who came right up to me and at that very moment I knew he was the one to adopt. He loves playing in the backyard, going on car rides and giving hugs. Yes, he learned how to give hugs. He is such a loving and caring dog. He is a true blessing, and I am thankful everyday that our paths crossed. - Michelle

8 Khalessi & Bruce (Layla & Bruce, Adopted June '13 & April '14) We adopted our first dog from AgHS, a beautiful brown & white Catahoula mix girl we named Khaleesi. Spending all day in the backyard while we were away left her lonely. My daughter and I fell in love with Bruce, a tan, Black Mouth Cur, Pit Bull mix, at a mobile adoption. Bruce and Khaleesi now take care of each other and play all day in the backyard and come inside for evening family cuddles and playtime. They make life complete, and our family feels whole now. - Stephanie

9 Luna (Vienna, Adopted November '14) Pupdate: In November 2014 Khalessi and Bruce welcomed another sibling to the family - Luna, a light brindle Pit Bull Mix sister.

10 Mister - A Medical Rescue, Love Story (Riley, Adopted January '15) Mister, a young adult Beagle, Basenji mix, was discovered hiding in a barn in late December suffering from a terrible leg injury. The Good Samaritan who found him brought him to Aggieland Humane hoping he could be saved. Riley did lose his leg, but thanks to AgHS' Medical Rescue Fund, he earned a chance at a new life. Don't tell him he's "special needs." Even before he was fully healed, Mister's Mom knew she had to have him. She had been waiting for just the right little someone to shower with love and Mister was it!

11 Mister recently helped carry a very special ring. "Mister is getting a dad, and I got a fiance'!" - Cassie

12 Debbie (Shakira, Adopted October '14) Just wanted to let you know the Debbie is doing great. I'm impressed with how smart she is. My husband renamed her with something he could remember and she quickly adapted. She and Bart are becoming great buddies. She is enjoying her new yard and loves to roll around in the tall Bermuda grass. She is also a powerfully fast digger, and the gophers don't stand a chance. We are fortunate to have her. Thank you for the wonderful job you've done with her. - Denise

13 Gilbert (Adopted July '14) With my family moving 9 hours away over the summer, I wanted a friend to welcome me when I came home. Gilbert was the quietest and shyest kitten with an injury on his nose. I thought he needed to be loved. For the first few days, he would hide from me, and I would never hear him meow. After a while he would come out and be more "social". After having him for more than a month now, he greets me at the door, loves to play with toys and has the oddest love of water. He loves getting wet, flicking water at me with his paws, and attempting to jump in the shower with me which NEVER fails to make me laugh. I went looking for a four-legged friend, and I found even more than that - I found a new family member. Thank you Aggieland Humane Society for giving me a lifelong friend! -Leah

14 Roxy - A Long Distance Love Story (Adopted September '14) A cute, fluffy Pembroke Welsh Corgi was found on wandering Highway 6 in far south College Station - a dangerous spot for a little dog. She was picked up and efforts were made to track her owner through her microchip, but no owner ever came looking for this girl. Several potential families were interested but did not complete her adoption. This pleasant girl's picture was uploaded to Petfinder and Petango as well as other internet sites promoting animal adoption. An inquiry via Petfinder from a woman in Vermont was a life-changer for our girl. We provided instructions for the application and did an adoption interview. The potential adopter assured us her last dog was adopted from Tennessee and that travel was no issue. So, three weeks after being saved from a busy Highway 6, the social yet calm Corgi was placed into the arms of her new "mom" and then they left for Dallas to continue their trip to Vermont.

15 Cheeseball (Sprite, Adopted September '14) My husband and I adopted Cheeseball because we both love cats and wanted a friend for our cat Mittens. We love how cuddly and friendly she is. And she gets along great with Mittens; they are best friends! She is a perfect addition to our family and we are so glad to have her. Thanks for all you do Aggieland Humane Society! -Molly

16 Wally (Taco, Adopted August '12) Everyday I look into my baby Wally's eyes and tell him how thankful I am to have him in my life. He is the most grateful, attentive, and precious dog. I had been contemplating adopting a small low maintenance dog who would fit in well with my cats and small living space. Upon going to the shelter to meet a different dog, I saw sweet, calm Wally (formerly known as Taco).

17 He had a runny nose and my heart melted for him because he seemed perfect for me and I wanted to get him healthy. He had been in the shelter for a long time and was only $12, so I couldn't resist...it just felt right within my heart. After medicine and time, Wally is healthy, happy, and full of energy! He absolutely LOVES my cats, and they LOVE him. I can't imagine a more perfect fit to our little pet family. It is so entertaining to watch him find the perfect spot to sleep and also to watch him play with my cats. He also likes to lick and snuggle up to my cats. I honestly cannot imagine a life without my animals. They are amazing, smart creatures who love you unconditionally and bring only smiles to your face. I am forever grateful that I helped the shelter by saving a life, and that they in turn helped by giving me Wally who has made my life complete. -Lara

18 Ramona & Peaches (Adopted February 2014) We adopted Peaches and Ramona on Valentine's Day. Ramona loves water, so she and my son play in the kiddy pool. Peaches doesn't like water but she loves to cuddle on the bed and watch TV with us. They are my sweet girls! And they have been a blessing to have around. - Charleen

19 Idgie (Adopted May 2014) My girlfriend and I wanted to adopt a little love into our lives. We looked carefully at every kitty and cat then saw a scrawny, no-name tabby with the brightest eyes. We can't remember how life at our apartment was without Idgie. Adopting her from the Aggieland Humane Society was one of the best decisions of our life. - Michael

20 Maya (Adopted August 2009) We had only been married for two months but had already been talking about getting a dog. My husband lived in Alaska as a child and had actually watched the beginning of an Iditarod race. Naturally, he had always pictured himself with a Siberian Husky someday. To our astonishment, when we went to the shelter we saw Maya, a scrawny but friendly Husky. When we were told that she had heartworms in 70% of her heart, she melted ours. She was able to make it through the treatment, but that was just the beginning. You said you wanted an "Adoption Tail", so here it is. Living in an 1100 ft. condo with a husky who was never housebroken was not the best plan. As we attempted to crate train her, she decided to act out in rebellion and tore up two different types of dog crates. When she chewed the floor out of the second one, she turned it into a "Flintstones" car, wreaking havoc on every square inch of our kitchen. She was not a happy pooch. Six months later we bought our dream home with a huge fenced in backyard. Shockingly, once we moved in her destructive behaviors almost immediately stopped! She LOVED having a space of her own where she could run around and dig a hole here and there. She knows she is in a safe place and she has become an integral part of our family. She has most definitely helped our marriage to grow and she makes us laugh every day! We love our Maya Papaya! - Stefanie

22 Pepper (Melody, Adopted July '13) We were a fairly new 'dog family' when we decided to start looking for a companion for our Lab, Greyhound mix, Daisy. We would all be going back to school soon (I teach and my four kids are ages 7 to 13) and knew that, after a summer of camping, hiking, running, car rides, etc. Daisy would be lonely. We looked at the Aggieland Humane Society's website for another Greyhound mix. We saw this strange multicolored dog pop up that was, in fact, a Greyhound mix. As we left to go check her out, I explained to the kids that we were only going to LOOK and that we WOULD NOT, under any circumstances, be bringing another dog home today NO MATTER WHAT. It took some looking once we got there, but we finally found her, curled up in a little ball asleep in the corner. She looked pathetic and, to be honest, was a very odd looking pup. It only took five minutes of playing with her and one phone call to the husband before we were going to the office to adopt her! Now Pepper is an energetic, loving little girl who adores chasing tennis balls, chewing on shin guards and cleats, and wrestling with her big sister Daisy. Every Saturday, you can find Pepper and Daisy at the soccer park cheering on their sister and brothers. Pepper is the PERFECT addition to our family and we couldn't have asked for a better adoption experience. - Charly

24 Jasmine (Adopted January '15) Jasmine arrived at AgHS in the Fall of Her owner had passed away. She was sad and had stopped eating. The 7 year old Australian Shepherd Mix is a sweet, gentle lady who loves belly rubs. Her spirits picked up over the next few weeks, and she was adopted to a loving couple. Unfortunately, Jasmine's new mom was allergic to dogs and didn't know it, so Jasmine found herself back at AgHS.

25 Jasmine was searching for her Forever Home, again. And this time, our ol' lady found herself an ol' fella and a loving Forever Family too. Jasmine and Cody held a meet and greet at AgHS. Each had a good sniff and decided they were a match. Cody is a Border Collie Mix who was rescued more than 10 years ago - the family thinks he is 12 or 13 years old. His family thought he could use a lady friend, saw Jasmine on Facebook, and knew they were meant to be. Cody has shown Jasmine the ranch and taught her how to dig for gophers. We think these two and their people will live happily ever after.
