I hold the title of United States Marine, and understand the commitment of holding the title, Devil Dog. It is a tradition born at Belleau Wood in the year 1918, of a force in readiness and the First to Fight. As a Devil Dog, I ask no quarter and give no quarter. I will do everything in my power to uphold the objectives of the Military Order of Devil Dogs and to carry out my duties to a swift and satisfactory completion. and encourage each member to have some fun and join in. For most of us Summer is TOO short. Did you know Christmas is only 4 months away? Snow and ice for many Dogs while I ll be sweating and scratching Fleas here in Florida. It is hard to believe the 2014 Supreme Growl is right around the corner; it feels like we just left Falls Church, VA. We have heard good news from the IRS. Thanks to the hard work of PDD Allen Ferguson the Pound and Packs that were not under the Marine Corps League umbrella have been added to the list. If your Pack or Pound receives a letter from the IRS to file a 990, please file it as soon as possible. If you still have issues please me your Pound/Pack name, dog robber s address and EIN so we can address the situation. Obedience School is almost complete. Please look for it to appear on the Kennel website in the near future. I would like to thank all the members of the Order who have offered input and guidance on this project. Last but definitely I look forward to seeing you all in Charleston, WV to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs. 3 SUMMER EDITION 2014 Page 3 Woof, Woof Devil Dogs! Our Jr. Past Chief has something to bark about... My time as the Jr PCDD is moving fast and I find myself looking at the 75th Supreme Growl moving closer and closer. We will be having a great National Convention and the Devil Dogs will be a very active part with the 75th anniversary kicking off. Remember, only dogs that attend, (at any degree), will be eligible to receive their one time presentation of the 75th anniversary Dog Tag that may be worn on their collar with the other tag. I will be assisting in the distribution of these tags and they will be signed for by each dog that receives the tag. You have to be there in person to receive the tag. We have had many requests for issuance of the tag by Dogs that cannot be there for a variety of reasons, (medical, travel, etc); however we are not giving any tag out that a dog cannot be there to personal sign for the tag. Be sure to check in with the MCL to get your credentials first and then head for the dog house. We, (me and my personal flea), have been packing up our Dog House, we are moving into an RV, and becoming full time travelers. We will first relocate to Texas to become state recognized Texans right after the National Convention and we will find time to spend with our new granddaughter who just moved to Fort Worth. This old dog does not plan to spend any more time in the cold and snow than I have to. We will look forward to visiting many of you Devil Dogs in our travels and will try to find as many Growls as I can to play in. All dogs, please continue to work towards building our Kennel with active dogs that like to have fun and show dedication towards the MCL. Our goals is to promote the MCL and with that we will continually support our Marines and their families. 4 Page 4 WOOF~O~GRAM Mad Dog stands tall and makes it happen... Woof, Woof fellow Devil Dogs, Over the last 3 months, I ve traveled to the Midwest Division Conference, In Iowa and the Missouri State Convention in Springfield, MO. Locally, Semo Pound 330 was busy making bones and having fun at the Soap Box Derby and Air Show. We have held 3 growls. I m working hard, digging up things to do for the 75th Supreme Growl in Charleston West Virginia. I know everyone already made preparation for Nationals. Remember to check in with the Marine Corps League then the Devil Dogs and have all your credentials in order to get your 75th Anniversary Dog Tag. Bring plenty of bones to purchase the 75th Anniversary Devil Dog pin and Stress Devil Dog that will be available. You don t want to miss out on these rare items. As always be diligent in sniffing out new pups and remember it s an HON- OR to be a Devil Dog. I ll see you in August. Semper Fi, Honorable Kennel Mad Dog Leonard Spicer Da Smart Dog chases his tail and barks at the Moon... Dogs of the Order, I m not sure if you will be reading this before or after the Supreme Growl to be held in conjunction with the National Convention. If you are reading this before the convention, please be sure to come to the growl prepared to vote on the proposed bylaw changes. If you have misplaced your spring issue of the Woof-O-Gram, they are posted on the Kennel website: Speaking of the spring WOG, I hope that you have purchased your Junior Vice Chief Devil Dog s Sweepstakes tickets and sent the stubs and bones to PDD Dennis Dressler by now. If you haven t done so yet, please do it now! The Kennel needs your support, and you just might be a lucky dog and win something. Regardless, it is for a good cause. I have attended three fantastic growls this spring at the Central Division Conference, Midwest Division Conference, and Department of Wisconsin Convention. My own Department of Illinois Convention is coming up this next weekend, and I look forward to supporting the IL Pack with my attendance and bones at the Grand Growl. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. I look forward to barking with many of you in Charleston, WV in August. Semper Woofing, PDD C.O. 6 Page 6 49th CDD & Kennel Executive Secretary continues to harbor strays... WOOF~O~GRAM Woof Woof all you Karniverous Kanines; I have been talking about the upcoming 75th Supreme Growl Commemorative items and information over the past few years. Prior issues of the Woof-O-Gram have included information on how to procure your tag and materials. Please review those past issues and familiarize yourself with the procedures. This will help keep your wait time in line to a minimum. I expect a large crowd on Sunday and Monday, and expect the numbers to dwindle as the week goes on. Be assured though that the room we issue the Tag and other materials will be open from Sunday, August 3rd at 1400 to Noon on Friday, August 8. The time we will be open will be whenever and while the Marine Corps League registration and the Kennel registration areas are open. We will be closed during Convention Opening Ceremonies, the Supreme Growl, and the MODD Luncheon. I cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure your Detachment pre-registers you for the Convention as a Delegate, Alternate or Member with the Marine Corps League National Headquarters. National has mailed out the Delegate registration form. This needs to be completed and signed by both the Detachment Commandant and Paymaster, then mailed with the appropriate fee to National Headquarters. Be sure to pay attention to the deadline on the form. Each and every attendee to the National Convention must be included on the form. Anyone missing or forms not completed and sent will only add a delay to your registration process. Some time ago I put out a call for individuals to assist the Kennel with the 75th Anniversary materials distribution. I plan to have a meeting on Sunday August 3rd at 0900 in the Marriott at the Allegheny room, which we have designated for the 75th Supreme Growl and Anniversary (where we will issue the items out). Remember, all Dog rooms are in the Marriott. I would like the 75th Supreme Growl and Anniversary Committee as well as all those Devil Dogs who want to volunteer some time assisting us to be at this meeting. We will complete the final room set up as well as provide an instruction period on the duties and methods for performing the tasks at hand, and I will have a signup sheet for workers. We plan to have 2 shifts per day, each shift will be approximately 4 hours. Starting on Sunday and for the first part of the week we will need 6-7 dogs working the room. As the week goes on we will need a couple less needed each day. Please plan your week so you are prepared to decide which days you will be able to serve. I have been hinting around lately on a surprise item the Committee has been working on. I am now prepared to inform you that we will have an anniversary book with historical information on the Order. The piece de resistance to this is An Old Mutts Tail. This is a personal memoir written by Past Chief Devil Dog Paul Sutton of his recollections of the Order during his more than 40 years as a member. It s a wonderful tail and what I believe to be the crowning jewel of the publication. PCDD Sutton will also be on site on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be offering to sign your book for a nominal donation to the Passport Fund. So, we are now less than two months away from the 75th Supreme Growl. I hope you are all ready, have your reservations, have submitted your paperwork if you are advancing, and I hope to see you all there! 7 SUMMER EDITION 2014 The 45th CDD talks to himself... Hotel Scam Page 7 You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. Typically when checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for any charges to your room). You go to your room and settle in. All is good. The hotel receives a call and the caller asks for (as an example) room which happens to be your room. The phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following: 'This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers at the reverse side of your charge card.' Not thinking anything wrong, since the call seems to come from the front desk you oblige. But actually, it is a scam by someone calling from outside the hotel. They have asked for a random room number, then ask you for your credit card and address information. They sound so professional, that you think you are talking to the front desk. If you ever encounter this scenario on your travels, tell the caller that you will be down to the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk or call directly and ask if there was a problem. If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone tried to scam you of your credit card information, acting like a front desk employee. This was sent by someone who has been duped...and is still cleaning up the mess. ANYONE travelling should be aware of this one! From the 45th CDD himself, Bill Taylor Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark & more bark... Tidbits to make life easier for everyone If you move, please update your Detachment Adjutant, then update your Pound Dog Robber. As any organization which depends on donations to make things happen, the MODD strives to not waste our resources. Returned mail is a huge waste of $$$. I always use positive speech whenever I work with dogs and people, yet it s very hard to do so when the same mistakes keep happening over and over again. Again, please tell someone you ve moved. Kennel Barking Dog, PDD OTTER Please put the following dates in your calendar as the WOG deadlines: Sep 15 Dec 15 Mar 15 Jun 15 kbdmodd@gmail.com

Page 8 WOOF~O~GRAM Whew! Southern Division kicks some tail... WOOF! WOOF! Completing my first full year as Division Vice Chief Devil Dog, I can say that I have had some great times and some sad times. Our Division has lost several great Dogs this year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those family members and friends who have lost some one. Being asked to attend and participate in Pack and Pound Growls has been one thing this old Dog and Flea wife really enjoy. We are getting out and about to see places in Texas and other states that we would not ordinarily see. We can meet and get to know Dogs who may not have had a chance to attend Pack or Division Growls. Participation in their Growls has given me new ideas for installations and Growl prankery and I have been able to share with others some different things from various Pounds and Packs. Hopefully I help make their Growls be a little more fun. Attending these Growls also shows that Kennel is interested in them as Dogs and not just their Bones and paperwork. Letting them know that we are there to help with any problems they may have as well as mentor their progress in Dogdom. In May of this year I attended the Arkansas Grand Growl, then drove to Houston to attend a Pound Growl where the Pound is busy re-organizing. I had the honor of installing eleven new Pups. In June my paws really got a work-out as I attended the Texas and Oklahoma Grand Growls. I then, crawled out of my Division to attend the Missouri Grand Growl. They really gave me a bunch of new ideas. We had a wonderful time, then headed back to Arkansas to attend a Special Growl of the Pound to elevate a worthy Dog to Pedigree. We had to schedule this Growl between his chemotherapy treatments for cancer. So, for the most part of this quarter, this Dog has had something positive and fun to do. As our 75th Birthday approaches this August, we have several Dogs hoping to elevate to Pedigree and several who are not eligible as of yet but still want to be a part of this special event. We are all looking forward to the Supreme Growl with anticipation of a Howling Good Time. Don t be afraid to jump some fences and visit other Dog Houses. PDD Ron Tomonelli Southern Division Vice Chief Devil Dog 110 Mac Lane Pottsboro, TX rttexoma@yahoo.com North West Division also chasing their tails and scratching themselves... Greetings from the Northwest Dogs, After reading all that the other VCDDs have put into their articles, the NWD can t top them so we ll let you get back to your barking, howling, chasing your tails and cats, growling, scratching and sniffing in your dog park. Seriously though, the NWD has been busy recognizing our dogs for their incredible work in their communities. All Packs awarded Pack Dog of the Year to very worthy dogs. That is what it s all about! Get the work done and smile while you do it, because it makes others wonder what you are up too. Keep on Barking! PDD Randy Ott NWD VCDD

SUMMER EDITION 2014 Page 9 What do they put in the dog food in the New England Division? A number of the dogs from the CT Pack invaded the New England Air Museum on 21 March 14. Commentary by Devil Dog PDD Sam Beamon, a Vietnam helicopter Crew Chief, author of the book Flying Death and a member of the CT Pack was appreciated. One of the planes viewed by the dogs was a Vaught F4U Corsair which was mainly built in Connecticut from 1940 till On 23 March 14 I attended a gathering of the dogs in NH where they held a growl to reestablish the Pack. Nomination of Pack officers took place followed by an election and installation of the officers which I conducted. Great to see the Pack get reestablished. During the growl a Pup was inducted into the Devil Dogs. The 30th of March found me having the privilege to participate in the Devil Dog s Birthday Party conducted by the MA Pack. Pack Leader Brian Dupee tried to keep the dogs in order and since it was a birthday party no fines were leaved but I think the Pack Leader made some mental notes about some of the dogs for fining at the next growl. The Quad State Convention / New England Division Conference was held in Burlington VT with a growl during the evening of 25 April 14. Since VT doesn t have a Pack the growl was masterfully conducted by the Pack Leader from CT, PDD Jack Dougherty. There were 42 dogs in attendance. The growl started with the usual barking and the dogs trying to find out what the hell was going on. The dogs were instructed to read the Devil Dog creed. The 45th, PCDD Bill Taylor, the 49th PCDD Doug Fisk and the current Sr. VCDD Leanna Dietrich graced the growl with their attendance. PCDD Doug Fisk reviewed with the dogs the upcoming Supreme Growl in WV and the issuing of the issuing of the 75th anniversary medallion. Throughout the growl PDD Dougherty fined dogs just for the hell of it. Also during the growl a Pub was initiated and another Pub advanced to Devil Dog. Once again putting my life on the line for the dogs I crossed the border into MA to attend a Pound 62 Growl conducted by Pound Keeper PDD Larry Rice. The growl was started by all dogs present being fined two small bones for showing up. Throughout the growl Pdd Rice continued to fine dogs for the very slightest infraction or what he thought was an infraction. Under the good of the order a motion was made and passed to donate $ to a local children s hosp I also had the pleasure of attending the Department of MA convention. During which a Pack Growl was held. The scheduled 19:00 growl started at 08:00 PM by the Worthy Pack Leader Brian Dupee (He evidently doesn t know how to convert from the 24 hour clock. PDD Manna was awarded the Pack dog of the year for all of his efforts on behalf of the dogs. PDD White made a presentation on the importance of all Packs and Pounds to file their 990 forms. PCDD Fisk raised a point of order about the proper way to address the various officers of the Pack. Two pups and two Devil Dogs were initiated during the growl. At the end of the growl the election of the Pack officers for the coming year took place. On Friday the 13 June 14 the CT pack decided the hell with superstition and held a pack growl. Worthy Pack Leader, PDD Jack Dougherty opened the growl. There were 39 dogs in attendance. The growl was then opened with the Devil Dog Creed followed by the regular order of business. The installation of two pups who woofed the Marine Hymn was conducted. PCDD Fisk reviewed the procedure for obtaining the 75th anniversary dog tag. PCDD Bill Taylor conducted the election of officers for the coming year. PCDD Doug Fisk conducted the installation supported by NE Vice Chief Devil Dog, PDD Frank Diekmann as Dog Trainer. The growl then continued under the direction of the new Worthy Pack Leader DD Mc Goldrick. PCDD Fisk presented the Glawackus Pound Dog of the year to Louis Verrette and Pack Leader PDD Mc Goldrick presented the Pack Dog of the Year to Ray Burrington before closing the growl. Woof, Woof. PDD FRANK DIEKMANN VCDD New England fad302@comcast.net

Page 10 WOOF~O~GRAM Dog gone Mid-West Division is at it again... Woof, Woof! Doggone it, I m starting to get itchy paws with the 75th Supreme Growl right around the corner, I can smell the excitement in the air! Oh no, wait, that was just some wet dogs walking by. Well, we are still going to have one heck of a howling good time in Charleston, no doubt about it. April 10th I packed my dog dish and headed to Omaha, NE for a spirited Midwest Davison Spring Growl. There was much amusement in watching the friendly banter between Dogs from Lincoln and Omaha whining on about which was the better Nebraska city and such. Cornhuskers, go figure! We were honored and fined many bones due to the presence of 54th PCDD Mike English, Kennel Smart Dog PDD C.O. Smith and Kennel Mad Dog PDD Leonard Spicer. A number of Pups had the honor of being advanced to Devil Dog by PCDD English after being sworn in as Pups by him just a year ago. PCDD English also swore in some new Pups this year too. The way things are growing there I anticipate seeing a second Nebraska Pound relatively soon. Following the Growl training PDD Janice Hartley conducted training for Pack and Pound officers and any other Dogs that wanted to attend. The training covered EIN s, 990N s, state registration, along with forms, manuals and other items available on the Kennel website. I hope to have another round of training at the Division Fall Conference in St. Louis, MO. It s finally warmed up enough up in South Dakota that Dogs are able to get out of their doghouses and run around. PDD Truman Henry reports that Dakota Dogs Pound 289 participated in a wreath presentation at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Memorial Day. They also participated in a Charter Dinner for Glacial Lakes Detachment in June. June 14th I headed west to Kansas where I had the pleasure of standing in for Chief Devil Dog Ken Travis. I presented a Charter to the new Salina Pound# 365 and Installed Pound Keeper DD Jan Denney and his staff. There must have been a major power outage down in Texas around June 20th because Southern Division Vice Chief Devil Dog PDD Ron Tomonelli managed to slip his leash and get past the invisible dog fence that surrounds Texas and made his way to the MO Grand Growl/Dept. Convention. Good thing for us too as he managed to stimulate the Missouri economy by leaving a few bones behind with the Police Dog. PDD Tomonelli presented me with my very own Official Texas Passport for which I am still wagging my tail, thanks! During the Grand Growl tradition was kept as Pack Leader PDD Jim Hartwick presented $2,000 to Rare Breed Youth Services. It will be used for a new video projection system for their youth training programs in Springfield, MO. Keep up the good work Dogs! Keep growing and having fun out there and let s make sure all of the Pounds are registered with their Secretary of State. It s a simple process that provides protection to your Dogs. I hope to bark at many of you in Charleston for the 75th Supreme Growl. I respectfully request your vote in Charleston as I will be running for Kennel Mad Dog this year. See you there! Semper Woof! 11 SUMMER EDITION 2014 Page 11 KDR PDD Joppa has been busy counting all these bones... MILITARY ORDER of the DEVIL DOGS KENNEL DOG ROBBER 8617 Knob Hill Ct, New Port Richey, FL (727) I know it seems like all I do is whine and bark. Most of the Pounds and Packs are actually doing a good job and are to be complimented. I would like to take this opportunity to do that. Thank you to all those that have read the bylaws and the Dog Robber manual and have made my job easier. The Supreme Growl is rapidly approaching. I hope to see many of you in West Virginia. From the number of PDD applications that I have received (222 to date) it looks like the turnout will be normal. If you have not made your travel plans yet the time is getting close! By the time you get this it will be too late to get your advancement application in. Sorry! See you next year in Arizona for the 76th Supreme Growl.. At the Supreme Growl awards will be given out. To date I have virtually no submissions. I am very disappointed. It looks like no one in the Pounds think any of their Dogs do anything or are worthy of being recognized. This has been the trend over the last several years and I think it is wrong. Awards are about the only way someone can be thanked for all of the effort they put in for the good of the Order. There is still time to get your submission in. They will be accepted until noon of the day prior to the Growl. Let s get those nominations in! Please make sure you follow the instructions in the bylaws on mailing. Otherwise the committee cannot consider the application. Now for some good news, the top 6 contributors to the Passport Fund are: #204 MD $2594, MD Pack $2101, #333 MD $938, #062 MA $449, NJ Pack $388 and FL Pack $306. Their outstanding support is greatly appreciated. The new fiscal year begins July 1 and I will begin accepting dues renewals for the 2015 year at that time. All Dog dues should be renewed by September 1 to be in compliance with the bylaws. On Sept 1 I will drop from the rolls all Dogs that have not paid their dues for After that date you will be required to pay back dues and a reinstatement fees to get back in good standing. I keep getting Installation Reports throughout the year. Elections and installation of new officers is to occur within three months after the Supreme Growl. If you are holding your election and installation at other times of the year you are in violation of the bylaws. Passport fees continue to come in and they are much appreciated. More Pounds and Packs are doing their job and sending in their bones. The children s hospital that is selected in Charleston will be very happy with the donation we are going to give them. Some Pounds and Packs continue to neglect this important area. I encourage each Dog to check with their Dog Robber and ask if he has sent in the required stamp fees. We want the donation to be the largest ever. WOOF WOOF Stephen C. Joppa Kennel Dog Robber

Page 12 WOOF~O~GRAM Central Division AWESOME 74th SUPREME GROWL!!! It's finally warmed up after a brutal winter of staying close to the fireplace. The dogs are out and about and all Grand growls should be history by now. I was fortunate enough to attend Grand Growls in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky as well as my own Pack of Illinois Growl coming up in a couple weeks as I write this. Congratulations to all the newly elected and reelected officers in all the Packs. I'm sure we will have a huge turnout for upgrades to PDD and the Supreme Growl in Charleston. This is a great town and the scenery around the area is fabulous. I'm sure we will have a great time while there. As to business, there is a Installation Report Form on the MODD web site. Please use this form and fill it out completely. There is information on this form that isn't included in the old forms that many of you are using. Also a reminder that Passport Bones must be sent to Kennel immediately after any Growl. This is new in the Bylaws passed at the Supreme Growl in Grand Rapids last year. Also 990's must be filed by every Pack and Pound. It's a pain, but it's the law. I look forward to seeing all you dogs in Charleston. Until then keep recruiting the active members of your detachments who know how to contribute to the Order while having a good time. Semper Woofing Dale Munson Central Division VCDD To all Central Division Packs & Pounds, I can be reached at USMCVET72@aol.com or (815) I look forward to meeting as many Central Division dogs as possible in the coming months. Rocky Mountain Division We are gonna be in your back yard in Are you ready? Woof, Woof Devil Dogs; As we prepare for the Supreme Growl we still need to focus on the basics. Packs/Pounds need to remember that there are Installation reports, Pass Port Fees and 990's that need to be done. Pack Leaders and Pound Keepers ensure your Pack or Pound has completed all the required items. As stated in that past there is a requirement to have four Growls a year, after each of these Growls the Pass Port Fees are to sent into the Kennel. I like to remind all that these are the Bones that the Kennel use's to give out each year at the National Convention/Supreme Growl. I like to also remind all the Packs that they should have elected new Pack Officers and the Installation reports Turned in. Once the Supreme Growl has concluded that all Pounds need to elected new Pound Officers. The most important thing that all need to remember is have FUN at the Growls. The Pedigree's need to train the worthy Dogs under them so we can keep the Pounds and Pack's running. Lastly look for worthy Leaguers that are of quality and meet the requirements to join our Order. 13 SUMMER EDITION 2014 Page 13 South East Division has recovered from the 73rd Supreme Growl... Woof-Woof. On the heels of the SE Division Growl, and a fine one it was, lots of sniffing and scratching about moving forward and making sure all the packs that had a representative attending learned of information to improve their pounds and Packs. A couple of weeks afterward I was privileged to present the Charter to Pound 364 in Georgia and moved another Charter to Alabama for Pound 363. During this point of the year the Packs are holding their Grand Growls. In some cases there are different Dogs taking charge of the Packs. Those that are leaving our thanks for a Job well done! For those returning let us start pressing to get all our bones and paperwork to Kennel for our Celebratory Supreme Growl. Looking forward to a fantastic gathering. Semper Woofing!!! PDD Dave Sargent VCDD SED Dave@davidhsargent.com North East Dogs have been holding their own in the bad weather... Woof Woof Fellow Devil Dogs, Once again we meet at our annual North East Division Convention To Partake in a week-end of fellowship and work on behalf of the Marine Corps League, Over the past year, as North East Division Vice Chief Devil Dog, I've been working hard as liaison between the pack and pounds of the three greatest states. I 'm in the process of starting second Pound in North East Central Jersey. Brought (4) New "PUPS" into the Order. Remember Membership within the Order is always one of our prime issues, keep an eye out for potential pup candidates and bring them aboard the greatest fun and Honor society in the world. In closing, always remember our Marine brothers and sisters, and ALL other service personnel who are serving in harm s way. PDD BERNIE SCOTT V.C.D.D. 14 Page 14 WOOF~O~GRAM South West Dogs are preparing for the 76th Supreme Growl... SOUTHWEST DOGS LOOKING FOR WATER Spring turned to a very dry summer very fast this year in this corner of Dogdom. After a very action-filled grand Growl of the Nevada Pack it turns out that the NPWDR s paperwork was eaten by his human (or so he said) and all of it is being re-created with the able help of the new Pack Leader, PDD Paul Bowen. That Pack is well on it s way to total recovery and growth. The California Pack s Grand growl was well attended, with around 40 Dogs howling & generously and willingly contributing tons of big bones to the cause, which this year was to the Sacramento Shriners Children s Hospital to the tune of $ (that s dollars). 5 PUPS advanced to DD and one mongrel became a PUP. PDD Charlie Kank was overwhelmingly elected Pack Leader, the only change in leadership. This old dog is still trying to figure out what happened to my stash of big bones after that Growl. A week after California I hitched a ride with MCL Southwest Division Vice Commandant PDD Gene Rivers to Phoenix, Arizona to the Department of Arizona s Convention and Grand Growl of the Arizona Pack. It was an outstanding convention and, without a doubt, the best Grand Growl I ve been to, with over 65 Dogs yelping and howling. 12 PUPs advanced to Devil Dog and 2 mongrels became PUPS. All were appropriately initiated to the delight of all in attendance. I had the honor of advancing one medically approved DD to the degree of Pedigree Devil Dog, PDD Paul Day. Arizona Pack now has all new officers with the exception of the WPDR. The new Pack Leader is DD Bud Watts. I know he and the rest of the Pack, as well as the Department, are well down the road towards having a great 2015 National MCL Convention and Supreme Growl of the Order. See all you Devil Dogs at our 75th in West Virginia! Woof/Woof! PDD Bob Villalobos SWDVCDD & HKDDR vlobo.1@juno.com (c) Kennel Dog Robber s Annual Report... The Installation report is hereby attached to this report as a pdf file. WOOF WOOF Stephen C. Joppa Kennel Dog Robber Our Dog Trainer knows we all need help... WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIKE EACH OTHER but we should learn to respect each other. Not one of us Dogs is going to like everything about others, but if we take the time to respect each other our experiences with each other will be greatly improved. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary has the word respect with a simple definition: a particular way of thinking about or looking at something. The word respect has its origin in Middle English from the Latin respectus, literally, act of looking back. If we can take the time to reflect upon what the individual is doing or intends to do we may not be so quick to cut him/her down. If we respect one another there is little chance that we will be intolerant with each other, and even ourselves. Next time a situation presents itself and you feel that twinge to jump all over someone else, just take a moment, step back and review your decision to respect another that they may see things differently from yourself. I am sure there would be less tension with each other and perhaps a different outcome could take place. Perhaps both parties could exercise their self-control to allow each other to hold a course of action that would otherwise end in a heated debate of who is right. Let s try it out! Regard each other with respect. Woof, woof! PDD Tom Minchin Kennel Dog Trainer PS. Please keep up the great work of honoring our fallen Dogs by sending me notes of their passing onto the Supreme Chief.

Page 16 WOOF~O~GRAM Mid-East Dogs are busy chasing cars up and down the Expressway... Well it s once again the Dog Days of Summer and time to beg at the BBQ grill or find a nice watering hole to cool off in. I hope you had a chance to attend the Mideast Division Growl hosted by the West Virginia Pack on 27 June. The Worthy WV Pack Leader Mike McClain asked that I assist him with running the Growl. (Note: The Pack Leader is also the MCL Mideast Division Vice Commandant and hosted/lead all the MCL Meetings on Sat). I was honored to be asked. I used the opportunity to level plenty of fines on all the Dogs but my home Pack (the Maryland Pack) and the Worthy MD Pack Leader Jim Brady were easy targets. We raised a large number of Passport Bones with various recommended Chits. Examples included: WV Vaccination Chit; Liberty Chit (if you need to use the Head or leave the room); Noise Maker Chit (required if you had any device that makes any type of noise- mouth excluded); Water Gun Chit (authorized to have water gun in the Growl); Water Gun Ammo Chit (need this to put the water in your water gun); Flying Object Chit (for anything that is shot or thrown); Mideast/Inter-State Dog License (allows you to travel freely, unharnessed & un-muzzled within 5 state region). As you can see, we had a great time! The Division is anxiously awaiting the 75 th Supreme Growl. Those Dogs in West Virginia have been busy getting their Dog House in order. This is being held in OUR Division and YOU should be there! I had the opportunity to attend an Initiation Ceremony for Pup Stuart Fuld of Pound 333. Stuart is battling cancer and really wanted to be a Pup and join in all the fun. Pound Keeper Evelyn Remines held a Special Growl at his home and Maryland Pack Leader Don Benson was the acting Mad Dog! Stuart s wife and family also attended and took witness to our fun. It was great to how proud they were of their Dad/Grandpa/ Husband. Keep up the all the great work around our Division, hold your Pound Keepers and Pack Leaders to account and make sure they are holding fun actives throughout the year and following the Kennel Bylaws, yada, yada, yada. Traditional Growls are great, but don t be afraid to introduce new ideas and get more Dogs involved. See you all at the 75 th. Semper Barking, PDD Craig P. Reeling, VCDD Mideast Craig.Reeling@MarylandMarines.org Kennel Quartermaster has a deal for you... Woof Woof Devil Dogs. As it goes, as of August the 8th, you will have a new Honorable Kennel Quartermaster. PDD Wendy Zamora of the Michigan Pack will take over the job as of that date. It has been a long ride and I enjoyed the most of it. Just a couple notes: I no longer have any of the Walking Canes or the night sticks. I also have run out of The Brass Bottle Openers. I have reduced the price of the Pub 26 to $3.00. I will see you all in Charleston, WV. Take care and drive safely. God Bless too all and Semper Fidelis, See you there.
