Without volunteers the daily operation of this rescue group would be overwhelming. The information will give you an idea of where we could use your help. 5 Animal Resource Foundation Volunteer/Community Service Participation Guidelines Thank you for volunteering your time at the Animal Resource Foundation (ARF). The time that you spend at the shelter is an important part of keeping our dogs and cats socialized, clean and happy. Your efforts will help the staff maintain the clean environment and positive atmosphere essential for successful adoptions of our animals. To make your visit here at ARF more enjoyable and in order for your credits to be honored we ask that you follow these simple guidelines. Please keep this form for your records. VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY SERVICE EXPECTATIONS: I. If you are scheduled to work at ARF on a certain date and time, please be courteous to ARF's staff and contact them if you will be late or cannot work during your scheduled time. ARF's phone number is If you are volunteering for court-ordered community service, at the time of completing your volunteer application form, please inform the staff as to the specific nature of your offense. 3. Please complete the task assigned to you before moving on to the next task. If you are unable to complete a task before you leave, please let someone know. 4. We are very proud of the cleanliness of our Adoption Center. Never be afraid to clean. The cleaner the shelter is, the more likely people are to spend time getting to know the animals, and the more likely the animals are to get adopted! When our animals get adopted it is because of you, our volunteers. We can't do it without you! 5. Please only walk the dogs when instructed by a staff member. Always inform a staff member that you are leaving or entering the Adoption Center with a dog. This is to prevent any dog fights from happening. 6. Always read notes before entering any of the animal's rooms. 7. Please feed the dogs and cats according to the staff directions. Many times there are special feeding instructions for a particular animal. Food bowls need to be washed afterwards and be sure to discard any uneaten food. Please sweep up and discard any spilled food. 8. Unfortunately, not all of our dogs/cats are house-trained. If you see any feces, urine or vomit in any of the animal's living area, please clean it up. Placed throughout the Center are trash cans, paper towels, latex gloves and Clorox spray bottles. Please also have a fresh bucket of bleach water and a mop next to the animal rooms so easy, fast clean up can be done.

6 9. Fresh blankets are always put down for the animals daily, which mean lots oflaundry to do. Please be careful not to overload the washing machines and before loading the clothes in the dryer be sure to clean the lint filter on the dryer. Be sure the blankets and towels are dry before folding and placing on the shelves. 10. We can't express enough how proud we are of ARF and the cleanliness of it. We would appreciate it if you see any trash and especially animal waste around the outside of ARF you would please pick it up. And always remember to have a poop bag with you when you are walking dogs. 11. Please do not be afraid to ask questions! We welcome all questions! 12. Stay busy and have fun! VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY APPLICANTS. 1. Please be respectful to all the volunteers and staff of ARF. If you are assigned a task, you are expected to do it unless otherwise noted. 2. Please be respectful to staff members while they are with a customer or on the phone. They will address your needs as soon as possible. 3. Please do not sit at the reception desk. This is for staff members only. 4. Please do not invite friends and/or family members to come "hang out" while you are volunteering at ARF 5. Please do not attempt to answer questions from ARF visitors. Ifvisitors are inquiring about one of the animals, or have any questions about ARF, please refer them to the ARF staff member. 6. Please limit your cell phone use when walking ARF's dogs. To prevent any kind of accidents we ask that your complete attention be on the dog you are walking. 7. Please dress comfortably but appropriately while volunteering at ARF. We do offer scrubs for you to wear if interested. We do have t-shirts that are on sale for $15.00 each.
