2 What is a visual guide? A Visual Guide has information and pictures to prepare you for your visit to the venue and performance. This means: There will be lights on in the theatre There will not be as many loud noises You can move around during the performance The actors will introduce themselves There will be a chill out zone 2

3 You are going to see Peter Pan Where is the play? The play is at the Park Theatre. Here is a picture of the Park Theatre. Park Theatre is in Finsbury Park. The theatre is near Finsbury Park Station. 3

4 How do I get there? Here is a map of the roads near Park Theatre. If you are travelling by tube, exit Finsbury Park Station via the Station Place exit. Follow the black dotted line on the map to get to Park Theatre. The Entrance You will walk through the front doors of Park Theatre into the café. The Café looks like this. You can buy food and drinks from the café and bar at any time. 4

5 What will it be like before the show? It can be busy before the show. You may have to queue for your tickets. You can pick these up at the Box Office. This is on your right after you walk through the door. When you go into the show When it is time to see the show, walk down the stairs in front of you. You will see the door to the Park 200. It is called Park200 because it has 200 seats. Go through this door to find your seat and watch the performance. 5

6 Accessible Toilets You can use the accessible toilet on the right of the door into Park 200. Toilets There are women s and men s toilets through the door to the left of Park 200. Walk straight to the end of the corridor. Turn right at the end of the corridor. The toilets are here. 6

7 Members of Staff Members of staff from Park Theatre will be there to help and answer any questions you have. They will be dressed like this. Chill-Out Area There is a chill-out area, just outside Park 200. You can use this space at any time during the show. 7

10 What to expect How long does the play last? The play has two parts with a break in the middle (called the interval ). The play is 2 hours and 20 minutes long The first part will be 1 hour The interval is 20 minutes The second part will be 1 hour Triggers: Music and singing Shouting and crying Bangs Haze from a smoke machine Darkness There are objects in this play that are not real and cannot hurt you, like: A sword A loud vacuum Ear Defenders If you have ear defenders, you can bring them with you. There are also ear defenders at Box Office. Please ask for these before the performance. 10

11 The Story: Part One You meet a family called the Darlings. There is a mother, a father and three children: Wendy, John and Michael. They have a dog called Nana. This is a puppet. You then meet the family s maid. She uses a very loud vacuum to blow the leaves away. You then meet Peter Pan. He is from an imaginary place called Neverland. Peter Pan can fly but this is not real. He is held up by wire. Peter Pan sneaks into the children s bedroom when they are asleep to find his friend called Tinkerbell. You don t see Tinkerbell. She is a light that moves around the stage and sounds like a bell. Wendy wakes up and sees Peter Pan. Wendy asks Peter Pan to teach her how to fly. She then wakes up her brothers so they can all go on an adventure to Neverland. 11

12 The Story: Part Two Wendy gets hurt on the way to Neverland. This is not real. You meet Peter Pan s friends, The Lost Boys. Wendy becomes their mother. A mean pirate called Captain Hook also lives in Neverland. Captain Hook wants to catch Peter Pan. = Peter Pan takes Wendy to see the mermaids. They see Captain Hook leaving a woman called Tiger Lily on a rock to drown. Peter Pan saves her. Wendy and her brothers decide to go home. The Lost Boys go with them. Peter is not happy about this. Captain Hook catches Wendy and her brothers. He tries to make them walk the plank. Peter Pan flies in and saves them. Captain Hook falls into the water and is eaten by a crocodile. Peter Pan wants to stay in Neverland but says that he will visit them. The end. 12
