Members of the Greenville Kennel club are mourning the loss of our fellow member, Richard E. Keith Jr., who passed away on February 2 nd, We extend our condolences to his wife, Jan and his family. The new layout with the education booth and the Greenville County Sheriff s Office K-9 booth at the front entrance drew lots of interest. We will be continuing our support of the local K-9 units in the upcoming months and we are planning a K-9 demonstration later this year. Until next time, may God bless, and keep you safe. In order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Greenville County Sheriff s Office the Greenville County Sheriff s Office Canine (K-9) Service Unit will provide highly trained canine teams to protect persons and property in Greenville County and increase the safety of deputies confronting any suspect(s) possibly representing a threat. Canine teams are a valuable tool in law enforcement used for criminal apprehension, building searches, area searches, evidence detection, narcotics and explosive detection, tracking missing persons, tracking fleeing persons, crowd control and for promoting favorable public relations. 3 (-. CH Ky s Cj Watch n Me Wynn JH Laura Tate My bred-by Bulldog bitch took winners bitch, best of opposite at Ladson, SC, along with best in bred-by and a Group 2 in Bred-by Groups competition. She also took Reserve WB to a 5-pt major at Greenville on Sunday. There were 34 Bulldog bitches competing on Sunday. Margaret & Ken Norkett Our Whippet puppy, Nikki, Ableaim Nikki s Not Naughty (much), was Winners Bitch for a 3 point major in Charleston. Thecla Tyner 2009 shaped up to be a great beginning! My Jenny, Vizsla, is now CH Ky s Cj Watch n Me Wynn JH. Owned, handled and bred by Thecla Tyner. After earning all of her single points in Clemson SC on January 3 rd, she finished her AKC Championship on January 24 & 25 earning back to back majors by taking WB/BW both days at the Charleston Kennel club show in Ladson, SC under judges Mrs. Karen C. Wilson and Dr. Alvin W. Krause. She also received BBE on Saturday and went on to place 3 rd in BBE Sporting Group. Then at the Vizsla Club of the Carolinas (VCC) Hunt test on February 7 & 8 Jenny Qualified both days for her 3 rd and 4 th legs to earn her AKC Junior Hunt Test Title which she earned in 4 out of 4 tests! At 16 months she is what a Vizsla should be! She has looks, conformation, health, pizzazz and style all with natural ability. Now we are off to get serious about obedience training, and training for our Senior Hunt Test Title. At the Greenville show Cluster on 2/13 2/15/1009, My Jenny, CH Ky s Cj Watch n Me Wynn JH, shown as a new Champion went Best of Opposite Sex on Friday and Best of Breed on Saturday and Sunday! I am so honored to hold on to her lead! Ky s Wynn N Celtic Copper owned by Dan Randall and Thecla Tyner, bred by Thecla Tyner and handled by Jack Sappenfield, took WD and BW Saturday 2/14/09 at the GKC show! Beverly Krautler My Mini Bull CH Menusha's Red Scarlet took a Group 2 Friday at the Greenville Show.

7 8 : ;: Linda Knorr Highlights from the February 2009 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows: The Gibraltar Kennel Club was added to the list of organizations with pedigrees acceptable for AKC registration. The "Lyn Mar Acres" kennel name was permanently retired for Basset Hounds at the request of the Basset Hound Club of America. Effective December 30, 2009, the English Foxhound will be listed as such on all AKC documents, rather than being listed as Foxhound (English). AKC Board policy was modified to permit Pointing Breed clubs in remote areas (no other club holding Hunting Tests within 100 miles) to hold up to six Pointing Breed Hunting Tests in a calendar year. Previously, all clubs were limited to four tests in a year. The Board approved the recommendation of the Group Realignment Committee. An amendment to the rules to provide for Ten Groups will be read at the June 2009 Delegate Meeting for a vote in September 2009, with a proposed 2012 effective date.
