3 The President s Corner The President s Corner 2019 started out with a bang or should I say snow. Our great show had its moments. Sadly, the weatherpersons were correct. Ice, wind, snow, we had it all. Even with the challenging weather many exhibitors weathered the storm and came out. Saturday was a bit more challenging and attendance was low. What we can celebrate is the team work folks gave that day to make the show run smoothly. Several who helped out were not club members but they knew the importance of volunteering. A HUGE thank you!!! Now we have just concluded our banquet celebrating all of the accomplishments your team has made. WOW, so many titles were earned. That says a lot about our club, our members and the dedication to this awesome sports of obedience and rally. We also celebrate with a special gift from the trainers and assistant trainers to Mary Gouge our Training Director who has stepped down from this position. As most of you know, she has added new classes, organized and re-organized our training teams. A huge thank you to Mary for a job well done! Our club has a history of nominating an outstanding member. This year the board nominated JoAnn Ray. She took on the team to redesign the website, become involved in our training classes and now has taken on a duty of the handling the club phone. Thank you JoAnn! I look forward to another exciting year of trials and opportunities to help train those who come to us. We always have a waiting list for classes which brings me to encouraging those interested to become involved as an Assistant Trainer. Pick a class, a day or time and experience the joy of seeing a true team come to life as we teach the dog and especially the handler how to work together. If interested, please come and see me, we have all levels of classes, puppy, beginning obedience, advanced obedience, rally and tricks. I promise, you will have a blast and I know that even though I teach, I still learn from the students. 18 Our wonderful trainers and helpers Jo Ann Ray Received the most coveted award NCOTC offers, the OUTSTANDNG SERVICE AWARD. This award is not given every year which makes it very special. Big congratulations Jo Ann!

19 North St. Louis County Obedience Training Club Outstanding Service Award Jo Ann Ray Jo Ann became a member of NCOTC in January, As she became more familiar with our club activities, she quickly became a regular volunteer as a show & go and trial worker. She established our Face Book page, where she and others upload information and pictures about club activities and classes. She chaired the re-working of our website by interviewing web designers, assembling pictures of our members and their dogs and overseeing the addition or update of the website pages. As Membership Chairman, she has re-evaluated the process, introduces the candidates, maintains volunteer hours and presents the candidates for membership. She has also initiated a mentor program for new members to our club, to guide them through the training and trialing of their dogs. Most recently, she has taken on the responsibility of the club phone, one of the most important aspects of our training program. Jo Ann is always willing to help when needed and we thank her for her service.
