1 OBEDIENCE PRE-KINDY Judge: Karen Westmacott STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE! The Pre-Kindy Class is for our babies. Pups start here at any stage between 8 weeks and up to 4 ½ months. All the everyday living exercises that a family pet needs, are trained for, and evaluated at the Graduation. All dogs will graduate from this class to the Advanced Pre-Kindy Class where the next exercises are built on this foundation. The dog and handler team needs at least a GOOD in every exercise to know that he has mastered the work,(q) but even if there is bad luck on the day, or there is a lot more work needed on any aspect,(nq) our Pre-Kindy dogs will advance to the next level where all the basics are brushed up before being built on, so smooth progress will be ensured. All we need is training! GOOD training leads to good work! In this class, no points are awarded; everything is graded from Poor, to Good, Very Good or Excellent. The qualifying dog with the most exercises graded excellent, wins! WALKING ON A LOOSE LEAD FOR 10 PACES. We wish to see the handler walk with his dog in the heel position, leash loose, with a nice loop from collar down, and up to handler s left or right hand. We never lure with food. Luring with the empty hand is permitted. When the dog responds, the handler may mark that response with the event marker of Click, Yes, or Good. Then the handler rewards with food. The lead is loose! 2 SITS, 2 DOWNS, 2 STANDS: For each of these 6 moves, the signal is given with the empty hand, the dog responds, and receives his GOOD and FOOD. Voice command and signal are given simultaneously. PUPPY RECALL: On the command Off you Go or Go Play the pup runs ahead and when 3 to 6 metres away, is called. Handlers may call, clap, cheer YES, or GOOD, as soon as the dog responds. Exc for Recall & Present. PLAY WITH PUPPY: Here we test the play drive, anything goes! Tug of war, retrieve, all is graded. Well positioned, very good lead handling, the dog was attentive, and the timing of marker and treat were very good. 2 SITS: The dog held position well, Mal gave clear commands and signals, and timing was EXC. 2 DOWNS AND 2 STANDS: equally well performed, with timing of marker a little slow in the down. PUPPY RECALL: EXC. work, Pup happy to run off, came when called and gave a smart present! PLAY WITH PUPPY: again an EXC. pup happy to interact with owner, pounced and grabbed with enthusiasm, happy to relinquish its prey! Ideally the handler will give clear prompts (signals), may lure with the empty hand and mark the correct response. The event marker, Click, YES, or GOOD, precedes the FOOD. Happy and relaxed, calm leadership shown by handler, Excellent timing of GOOD and FOOD. RECALL 14 /15 Exc. command, signal and handling, Prompt response and Present were VG. TEMPERAMENT TEST full marks, ticking all the right boxes. VOICE AND SIGNALS 8 /10, DUMBBELL PLAY graded VG, DOWN STAY GROUP gained full marks. SCORED 91 points, VG 4th 84 REX DOB: 27/03/2014 Exh /Handler G Mills HEEL ON LEAD 18/30 this needs some attention. Although the sits and stands were very good, the down was poor, and the lead was tight during the heelwork. Greg tagged with the lead, a move that will slow down the learning process and kill the dog s sparkle. Timing of marker and food was Good. CONTROL AT GATE 8/15 Rex was in a good position for the sit, but the command and signal were not clear. Rex s response was therefore poor, and the timing needs to improve. RECALL 13/15. Some minor deductions here, signal and handling as well as dog s response were very good. TEMPERAMENT TEST 13/15 Relaxed and happy dog, calm leadership shown by Greg. Timing was good. VOICE AND SIGNALS 5/10 DUMBBELL PLAY graded Exc. Well done! Full marks for the STAY. Rex had his nose on the ground throughout, and Greg was too verbal. SCORED 72 points, NQ 5 th 111 SHAZWICK ALLEY CAT Exh / H Laurel Cowell HEEL ON LEAD 15/30 Laurel used the lead as a brake for the sit, there was some tagging. It was unfortunate that the dog had to contend with bells and whistles plus a loose dog in heelwork. She was very distracted by the show ring, and showed no drive for her work, with all positions not shown at her best. Handler did her best and her timing was good. CONTROL AT GATE 10/15 well positioned, clear command and signal, dog responded very well, timing was excellent. RECALL 8/15 Very good command, signal and handling, but with the distractions it took a second command which will score 8 points in the graduation. TEMPERAMENT TEST ; Lovely, full marks. VOICE AND SIGNALS 8/10 DUMBBELL PLAY graded VG. STAY: 15/15. SCORED 71 points NQ

CONTROL AT GATE 13/15 Well positioned for the cue to sit to be given, clear command and signal, River s response left a little to be desired, lost 1 point for food lure, Robyn s timing was good. RECALL 14/15, Very good commands and signals, River responded excellently, came in promptly with a smart Present! TEMPERAMENT TEST scored full marks. VOICE AND SIGNALS 8/10, DUMBBELL PLAY : Exc. DOWN STAY, OOPS! Broke her stay. SCORED 69 NQ 7 th 86 BRONBOREO PICTURE PLEASE DOB: 2/08/2014 S:*Bodecka Yobbo AZ VG Br: B Pereira/R Pritchard D:*Seigen Girls On Film AZ Exh: L Berkhout Hand: Sue Berkhout HEEL ON LEAD 19/30, Drive and attention was good, sits and stand were Very Good, downs lost a point for a food lure. The dog was worked on a tight lead, with some tagging and therefore lacked a little in motivation. Even so, Sue s timing of marker and treats were very good. CONTROL AT GATE This was well handled, Full marks, ticking all the right boxes, RECALL 12/15 good command and signal, but room for improvement, however, the dog responded excellently. TEMPERAMENT TEST 14/15 relaxed and happy dog under examination, calm leadership of Sue, very good timing of good and food. VOICE AND SIGNALS 9/10, DUMBBELL PLAY was EXC. DOWN STAY OOPS, failed this exercise. SCORED 69 points NQ 8th 104 SEIGEN MR DARCY DOB: 7/07/2014 S:*Gerry vom Schacher (imp Deu) Br: D&C Gallacher D:Seigen Crunchies Ava Exh: D&C Gallacher Hand: Dina Mistry HEEL ON LEAD 17/30 Drive and attention during heeling were good, the sits were poor, good downs and very good stands! The Right About Turn needs to be close and shown with more enthusiasm. CONTROL AT GATE scored 8/15, well positioned for the sits, commands and signals need to be more precise, the pup s response lacked a little, and this will improve with better timing of GOOD and FOOD. RECALL 10/15 good commands, for this, and a good response from Mr. Darcy. TEMPERAMENT TEST 14/15 Happy and relaxed during the test, good leadership from the handler, timing was good. VOICE AND SIGNALS 5/10 Signals need to be clearer. Empty handed lures should resemble the signals. DUMBBELL PLAY graded Exc. Well done! DOWN STAY GROUP, Full marks for the stays, lovely! SCORED 69 points NQ OBEDIENCE KINDY Judge: Miss Jean Mc Cowan In the Kindy Class, wearing a Bum Bag in the ring incurs a 5 point deduction. FOOD LURES cost -2 points each. Giving a Food Reward costs 1 point each. The exercises are: Heel on Lead is for paces, all positions, left & right turns, and a Right About Turn. Walk through a crowd of 3-5 people on a loose leash, Food Manners, Walk past food, do not steal! Handler may use NRM. (No Reward Marker) This is a neutral tone that tells the dog that THIS move does NOT get paid! It is NEVER a threat, NEVER a warning, it is only noninhibiting information, which will cause the dog to try his best to offer the right, rewardable response! Sit for Examination, Handler in front of or on side of dog as he examines him. May be a formal examination by the judge. This is the Judges choice, and equal for all dogs in the class for that competition. Recall: Off Lead, Formal Recall from 6 to 8 metres. Clip on lead, return to dog, walk away for 5m. Ex. Fin. Dumbbell/Toy Play is graded from EXC, through to Very Good, Good and Poor. Sit and Down Stays at 6metres distance, leads dropped on the ground, 30 and 60 seconds respectively.

8 1st 92 SAM DOB: 0/01/1900 Exh/H: Maggie O'Reilly HEEL ON LEAD 25/30 Overall very good heeling, but sits and downs need to be somewhat straighter. WALK THROUGH A CROWD gained 10/10, with Maggie showing good leadership. FOOD MANNERS 5/5 well done! Sam did not move towards, or sniff the food! SIT FOR EXAMINATION 8/15, a loss of points because Sam moved during the test. RECALL was pretty good and scored 18/20.
