DIRECTIONS TO THE SHOWS NORTHBOUND ON I-5: Take exit #256A onto Hwy. 539 (Guide Meridian St., Right turn). Proceed approximately 10 miles to Front St. Turn right. Fairgrounds are on the right, enter Gate #2. SOUTHBOUND ON I-5: Take Exit #270. Proceed East on Lynden-Birch Bay Road. Turn left onto Hwy. 539, and right on Front St. to Fairgrounds, enter Gate #2. SOUTHBOUND FROM ALDERGROVE, B.C.-HWY 1: Take 264th St./Hwy. 13 South to the Aldergrove- Lynden Border Crossing (open 8 a.m. to 12 midnight). This road becomes Hwy. 539 in the U.S. Go South, then turn left onto Front St. to Fairgrounds. ALL BORDER CROSSINGS ARE OPEN 24 HOURS EXCEPT ALDERGROVE-LYNDEN CROSSING AKC Owner-HandleD Series Saturday Only The AKC Owner-Handler Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not owned or exhibited by professional handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handler eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the steward s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled by an owner/handler eligible for the AKC National Owner-Handled Series throughout the breed level competition for the point show. This includes the class competition and subsequent competition in the breed ring. Additionally, dogs must be handled by an eligible owner/handler for all AKC National Owner- Handled Series competition. If the replacement handler is an eligible owner/handler for that dog a change can occur. Owner-Handler Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes. o If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handler competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both the regular as well as the Owner-Handler group. o If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handler competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/ Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. o If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are Owner- Handler competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. o If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all Champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. o If Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. o If the Best of Winners is eligible, the other Winners are ineligible since it was defeated. o No class dogs other than the Winners Dog & Winners Bitch are eligible to return to the ring. The breed will not be represented in the Owner-Handler Group if there is no eligible dog competing in the Best of Breed or in Best of Winners competition. *Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay or received payment for handling a dog. MT. BAKER KENNEL CLUB WEEKEND OVERNIGHT PARKING Reserved Parking is closed. Non-reserved weekend rate is $90.00 (US). 1. All exhibitors and handlers are required to park on the Fairgrounds. Areas adjacent to the Fairgrounds are private property and off-limits. 2. Only one vehicle is allowed per reserved space. Additional vehicles may be parked in the RV Day Parking Areas or a second reserved space may be purchased. All reserved RV parking will be with a 10 foot clearance. 3. All overnight units must be self-contained. No dumping of waste matter on the grounds. An RV dump site is located on the fairgrounds at the Track-Grandstand. 4. All RV units must have working fire extinguishers and generator exhaust piping. 5. Everyone using this facility is expected to keep and leave the area clean. 6. Space assignments will be made first-come, first-served upon check-in at the gate. Special Medical needs require proof at time of check-in for handicap parking. 7. Restrooms and showers are available. 8. Grounds will be open Friday at 12:00 Noon on May 16, Gates close at 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and re-open in the morning at 6:00 a.m. All vehicles must vacate premises by Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. 9. All parking is a privilege extended by the show-giving club and the fairgrounds. They reserve the right to withdraw this privilege from anyone who uses abusive language, argues with the parking personnel or attempts to circumvent the rules and regulations. All parking is at your own risk. The show club, parking personnel and fairgrounds assume no responsibility or liability for damages or loss to any vehicle or its cargo. USE OF RAMPS At the sole discretion of the judge, approved breeds may be examined on the ground or on a ramp: *Boykin Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Sussex Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, **Basset Hounds, *Whippets, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, **Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei, Chow Chows, Keeshonden, and Polish Lowland Sheepdogs. *Boykin Spaniels and Whippets may be examined on the ground, on a table or on a ramp. **Basset Hounds and Bulldogs are expected to be judged on the ramp during breed judging. For the judging of Juniors, the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp breeds. This list may be revised from time to time, and the current list can be found on the AKC website in Judging Operations. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give reasonable notice to the Show Superintendent/Show Secretary prior to the day of the show. AKC approval is not required. Ramps may be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. (In all but emergency situations, the exhibitor has no recourse. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.) LOSS OR DAMAGE The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of any accident or misfortune, to either dogs or exhibitors participating in these Shows. The welfare of an Exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children. ALL RIGHTS TO TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the Club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the Club. All persons and animals on the Show Grounds at any time while the show is in progress, do by attending this show or participating therein, grant to the Club the right to photograph, televise, videotape, audiotape or otherwise use their likeness and voice in any manner without further release or consent.
