After he completed secondary school in Cuba, he enrolled at a college where he studied to become an electrical technician. His focus was on networks and electro-energetic systems. After graduating, he eventually decided to move to the United States to find a job. PAULO is currently working at a moving company as a mover, and in the past he has worked repairing electrical appliances, operating networks in a Cuban electrical company, and working as a maintenance technician. He is inspired by his daughter to provide a good life for her. PAULO s native language is Spanish, and he speaks English, too. He served in the military in a technical position. I studied electroenergetic systems, and eventually moved to the U.S. to find work.

Solitary, noble, humble, honest, responsible, friendly, sincere and optimistic. Describe your strong sides: My daughter gives me strength to fight and get ahead. Describe your weak sides: My weak side is knowing that someone in my family has problems and not being able to give my daughter what she needs. What is your marital status? In a relationship. Do you have any children? My daughter is 6 months old and weighs 17 lbs. She is beautiful, affectionate and always smiling. She has black hair and brown eyes. Her development is normal and she has no medical issues. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Soccer, baseball, basketball. Do you eat healthy? I try. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? Sometimes. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? 6 beers per week. Which countries have you visited: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, United States. Describe the best holiday you have had: When I was on vacation in Ecuador, I visited many places and I learned a lot from its culture and traditions. I loved it! What do you like the most about your own country: I like that people are kind and supportive, that health and education are free, their fertile land and beautiful landscape. Which other types of sports are you interested in? Any sport. 3 Q&A with PAULO - continued PAULO s dreams, favorites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? My idols are God and the Virgin of Charity because they are an example to follow they give me confidence and peace, as well as my heroes because they protect me from all evil, they save me and they bless me and my family. What are your goals in life? My goal is to help my daughter to fulfill her dreams and to have enough money to live my last years in my country doing what I like. What were your childhood dreams: I wanted be a singer or musician. Which values do you rank the highest? Humility, honesty, sincerity, intelligence, good spirits. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? During the holiday season, we traveled to the capital of Cuba and made a camping trip on one of the coasts. That night, we slept on the rocks and the next day my cousin bought a fish that contained a disease without knowing, and all those who ate the fish ended up in the hospital almost dehydrated. What is your favorite kind of music? Romantic music. What is your favorite kind of car? Truck, because it helps you solve many problems. What is your favorite kind of pet? Hamster, because it is a funny and small animal that occupies little space, little expense in food, does not make noise and does not leave hair everywhere. What is your favorite time of year? Summer, it s when everyone gets together to have fun in many places and the days are a little longer to take advantage of the sun. What is your favorite book and/or author? The Golden Age, by José Martí Pérez. What is your favorite movie and/or director? Elpidio Valdés. Which was your greatest experience or moment? Reuniting my family in this country after many years apart. Happiest: Reuniting my family in this country after many years apart. Funniest: Reuniting with my family. Scariest: When I had to cross the jungle of Colombia. Proudest: None. Most dangerous: When I left at dawn to walk through the jungle of Colombia in the dark and I almost went down a ravine. Greatest sorrow: When my mother embarrassed me badly in front of the neighbors a few years ago. What is your favorite color? Light blue, because it is a color that means clarity and cleanliness, it is also a primary color from which colors such as green and violet can be derived. What is your favorite animal? Dog, because it is an intelligent, friendly animal. What is your favorite kind of food? Yellow rice with fried green plantain, or lobster and avocado salad with tomato.
