Turn right at stop light in McKenna (Exxon station) on Hwy 702/352nd St. Go 5.3 miles to flashing yellow light and turn left on 8th Ave. Go approx. 3.5 miles. The Polo Field is down a dirt road in the trees on the right just before the 288th Street intersection, and will be marked with signage. Follow dirt road to the clubhouse. Directions: From the North - From I- 5 take exit #127 (Hwy 512 Puyallup exit) towards Puyallup. Take the Pacific Ave exit (Hwy 7) and turn right. Go south on Pacific Ave approximately 5 miles to the Roy Y and bear right on WA- 507/Spanaway McKenna Hwy. Go 1.2 miles and turn slight left onto 8th Ave. Go 5.2 miles and (just after crossing 288th St.) turn left into the entrance to the Polo Field on a dirt road marked with signage. Follow dirt road to the clubhouse. AWARDS: Rosettes will be offered for all placements: BOB (Purple & Gold), High Scoring Singles (Navy & Gold), First (Blue), Second (Red), Third (Yellow), Fourth (White), NBQ (Dark Green); Nonstandard stakes: Kennel and ISWS Conformation (Bench) Stakes ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Only purebred Silken Windhounds individually registered with the United Kennel Club (UKC) and/or International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS) may be entered. Late, incomplete, unsigned or unpaid entries will not be accepted. Substitutes for lame or in- season hounds will be allowed if substitute has the same owner and field secretary is notified before close of entries. Certification runs will be offered before the trial at the cost of $15.00 per dog. You must pre- arrange certification runs with the Field Secretary ( OK - first come, first served) and must provide your own by- dog. We cannot guarantee that time will allow for more than a few qualifying runs. For that reason, please make every effort to qualify your dogs before SilkenFest. All first time entries MUST include a copy of the hound s registration certificate. The entry for each hound entering for the first time MUST include a completed & signed ASFA Certification Form or Waiver Form (with proof of title) and a copy of the hound s registration certificate (ASFA certification waived for Single Stake entries only). STAKES OFFERED: Open Stake: Any eligible Silken Windhound, excluding ASFA Field Champions of record. Field Champion Stake: Any ASFA Field Champion of record. Veteran Stake: Any eligible Silken Windhound whose age is at least six years. Points go toward V- FCh or V- LCM titles. Singles: Any eligible Silken Windhound including those disqualified to run in other stakes. Each hound runs alone. Not eligible for Best of Breed or Best in Field. Hounds are eligible to earn TCP and CPX titles from the Singles stake. Kennel Stake: An entry shall consist of two Silken Windhounds, designated at time of entry, in one of the regular stakes being owned and kenneled by the same person. ISWS Conformation (Bench) Stake: An entry shall consist of a single hound with proof on file with the ISWS of a conformation championship. Best in Field will not be offered. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: All entries must be one year or older on the day of the trial. Stakes will be split into flights by public random draw if the entry in any regular stake is 20 or more. Bitches in season, lame hounds and hounds with breed disqualifications will be excused at roll call. Spayed, neutered, monorchid or cryptorchid hounds without breed disqualifications may be entered. Hounds with breed disqualifications are not eligible to enter except in the Single Stake. Hounds not present at time of roll call will be scratched. All hounds will run twice, in trios if possible, or braces (except in the Single Stake), unless excused, dismissed or disqualified. Certification runs will be offered before the trial as time permits. EQUIPMENT: Battery powered, DRAG lure machines will be used, with backup equipment on site. The lure will consist of white plastic and/or fur strips. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A $5.00 penalty will be collected for any loose hound not in competition, and from any person not cleaning up after his/her hound. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on the site during trial hours. Persons exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct detrimental to ISWS, ASFA, Tacoma Polo Club, any hound or person will be asked to leave the trial site and may be subject to further disciplinary action. Food: There are no restaurants close but lunch will be catered in. Please see the SilkenFest premium to order and pay for lunch.

3 COURSE PLAN: The club reserves the right to alter the course plan as required by weather and/or field conditions on the day of the Trial. Course will be reversed for finals and runoffs at the discretion of the judges yds Allagante Windspirit Barbados Memorial Trophy: In addition to its beautiful logo and evergreen setting, Silkenfest 2014 will be notable for the inaugural presentation of ISWS first perpetual trophy: The Allagante Windspirit Barbados Memorial Trophy. This trophy will be awarded at Silkenfest annually to a Silken Windhound that excels both in Lure Coursing & in Conformation. My Bados (ISWS CH, ICKC Int l CH, UKC GrCh Allagante Windspirit Barbados ISWS FCh, LCM, SRC, ORC, ASFA FCh) excelled in many arenas; his breeder described him as an everything dog. He earned multiple titles in both performance & conformation before his 4th birthday. Among all these talents, Bados forte was lure coursing. He made the ASFA top 20 in 2010 after only 3 months of competition. For the breed, he was ranked #1 by ASFA in 2011, #2 in 2012, #3 at the time of his death this past October. He even finished 2013 ranked at #7. Bados was ISWS 4th Lure Courser of Merit out of only 5 or 6 in the breed, and currently he is #2 on ASFA s Lifetime Top 20 list of Silkens. Bados also did well in racing, but his 2nd greatest strength was his beauty. Despite his owner s inexperience in the show ring (he was my 1st show dog), he earned titles within every organization that he was shown and was one of UKC s top 10 Silkens in 2011 without attending any UKC shows outside of the Pacific Northwest. This combination of excellence in conformation & performance is a strength of the Silken Windhound in contrast to many breeds. This confluence of form & function is important & should be a standard we strive to maintain. In light of this, the Allagante Windspirit Barbados Memorial Trophy will honor such dogs. This trophy will be for the ISWS Ch that is ranked highest with ASFA in the preceding year. Details can be found in the Silkenfest catalog. After Bados died in a tragic accident while lure coursing last October, I was touched and honored by the several people who approached me independently to propose that there be a perpetual trophy in his honor. I was again honored that the ISWS BOD agreed and that donations were made by many members, friends, and family to make this a reality.
