8 Safe Parking Habits Back first Watch for hazards (children, bicycles, etc.) Use a qualified spotter Back slowly (no more than 1 mph) Secure your vehicle (proper gear, parking brake on, ignition off, cone behind vehicle.)

9 Customer Premises Hazards Practice good habits to avoid placing yourself in danger Look for inside and outside hazards prior to entry Do not enter areas where dogs are present

10 Look for Animal Hazards Evidence of animal hazards such as: Account codings Dog bowls, chains, houses and posted signs Invisible fence signs

11 Signs of Aggressive Dogs: Ears back and close to the head Eyes narrowed with a challenging stare Tense body Snarling, growling or barking loudly

12 If a Dog Threatens or Attacks.. Stop walking or running Put any hand tool between you and the dog Other options for defense

13 Don t turn your back on him!

14 If a Dog Threatens or Attacks. Back away from the dog, never turn your back Notify your supervisor of the situation Afterward, ensure the address is updated to Bad/Vicious Dog

15 Other Helpful Hints Never attempt to touch a dog through a fence Do not approach a watch dog protecting its property Never attempt to touch a dog that is eating or in possession of a bone or treat Never pet a sleeping dog

16 How to Report a Dog Bite Contact your supervisor immediately Seek treatment at nearest medical facility Supervisor to notify local authorities Supervisor completes Medgate injury report

17 Walking Surfaces Unfamiliar terrain and uneven surfaces at customer premises are common sources of serious work-related injuries Do not cut cross country where cleared walking surfaces are available Snow and ice may pose additional hazards

19 Anticipate Inside Hazards Wear company I.D. Wear all required PPE Do not enter homes unless animals are contained Have a working flashlight with you Ask the customer about unforeseen hazards

20 Anticipate Inside Hazards Use handrails on stairs or steps, when available Watch for objects stored on stairs or steps Low head clearances Weakened ceilings Low light conditions
