The dog show rules are posted on the AKC Web site at EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. "Dogs found in an unsafe environment, distress or harm s way (for example: left unattended on a grooming table in a noose not attached to a safety release clip; left in a vehicle without proper ventilation) will be removed to safety. Exposing a dog to an unsafe environment, distress or harm s way is considered mistreatment. No dogs that are disqualified for aggression will be allowed to enter these Shows, nor be allowed to be on the grounds. IT WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 4:00 P.M. UNTIL 10:00 P.M. The above provisions for leaving dogs in the Lake County Fairgrounds overnight is a provision of the Clubs for the convenience of the exhibitors. WATCHMEN WILL BE ON DUTY 24 HOURS, but it must be distinctly understood that the presence of these watchmen is a courtesy to exhibitors for the Clubs, their members, directors, officers, agents, show superintendent, and the said employees of the said kennel club and/or its superintendents will not be liable for any loss or injury which may be sustained through the loss, theft, injury and/or death of dogs entered in this event whether said loss, theft, injury and/or death is or are caused by the negligence or carelessness of the said Kennel Clubs, their members, directors, officers, agents, superintendents, and/or employees of the said Kennel Clubs and/or employees of their superintendents or by negligence of any person or any other cause. No puppies under 6 mos. of age will be allowed on the show grounds during show hours. UNENTERED DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS. CLEAN UP NOTICE: Exhibitors/Handlers will be held responsible for keeping their grooming & crating areas clean. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action. All litter must be placed in containers that are provided on the grounds and in the buildings. EXHIBITORS MUST CLEAN UP AFTER THEIR OWN DOGS IN ALL GRASS AND PAVED AREAS OF THE FAIRGROUNDS. For the convenience of the exhibitors and their dogs, exercise pens will be available for the animal s toiletry needs. PLEASE EXERCISE DOGS BEFORE ENTERING THE SHOW RING. Electricity is provided on a limited basis AND IT IS EXPECTED THAT IT WILL BE SHARED. NO STROLLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE EXPOSITION BUILDINGS. The welfare of a child is assumed to be the responsibility of the adult bringing the child to the show. It is distinctly understood that adults will exercise control and restraint over their children at all times. NO SMOKING IN BUILDING AT ANY TIME. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. The Lake County Fairgrounds prohibits any alcoholic beverages to be carried in. No cutting of rope or tape or removal of any barricade. No grooming or crates allowed at ringside. Show & Go crates will be allowed at ringside in designated areas during that breeds judging at the discretion of the Show committee. NO CRATING OR GROOMING IN MAIN AISLES. Chairs in the grooming area may be limited at the discretion of the Show Committee. We recommend that all dogs present at the show be fully immunized. Private exercise pens must be set-up on plastic floor sheeting and must be down each morning by 7:00 A.M. No private ex-pens during show hours. You may use private ex-pens in grooming area (as space allows) 30 minutes after Best in Show. At no time in the show building will matting, carpeting, or other material larger than 4 x 4 be allowed. Dogs must be at least 4 months of age on the date of the event. The following breed classes will be offered at all FSS Open Shows: (All Classes Divide by sex) 4-6 Month Puppy Class Bred-By-Exhibitor Class 6-9 Month Puppy Class Open Class 9-12 Month Puppy Class BEST OF BREED COMPETITION Dogs less than 4 months of age are ineligible to be on the grounds of licensed or member shows during AKC events. Dogs are required to be vaccinated in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol (including rabies vaccination) in order to avoid inadvertent transmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized. Professional handlers or agents are only permitted to exhibit in FSS Open Shows if they are listed as an owner of record of the dog being exhibited. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay. Any person acting in the capacity of Show Secretary at an FSS Open Show, or any member of his immediate household or immediate family (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows), shall not exhibit, act as agent or handler at the event, and dogs owned wholly or in part by the show secretary or by any member of their immediate household or immediate family shall be ineligible to be entered at that show. No judge or any person residing in the same household with a judge shall exhibit or act as agent or handler at an FSS Open Show at which they are officiating as judge and dogs owned wholly or in part by such judge or any member of their household shall be ineligible to be entered at the show. Subject to the foregoing, members of a judge s immediate family who no longer reside in the same household may enter or handle a dog at a show if the judge is not officiating over any competition, including a group class or Best in Show, for which the dog is entered or may become eligible. No dog is to be judged if it is brought into the ring bandaged, taped, glued or stitched anywhere including ears or tail. These dogs must be excused from judging but, at the judge s discretion, may return to be judged after the tape or bandage is removed. Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. Entries Close at the office of Roy Jones Dog Shows, Inc., WEDNESDAY NOON (EDT), MARCH 27, SEE PRIZE LISTINGS FOR PRIZES & RIBBONS FOUR-TO-SIX MONTH BEGINNER PUPPY COMPETITION SATURDAY, APRIL 13, 2019 The Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and under six months on the day of the event. Classes will not be divided by sex in this competition. Classes will be offered for Breeds & Varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class Breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous Class competition will be equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS Competition will be the equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A Foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. FSS Number of FSS Registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS Breed Entries. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler. Exhibitors should open their dog s mouth for examination. If the judge finds it necessary to open the mouth they should disinfect their hands prior to examining other dogs. Male puppies without 2 fully descended testicles need not be disqualified or excused but the judge s book must describe the condition and Certificate of Merit points must be withheld. Dogs with breed standard disqualifications should not be excused but may not receive placements. However, dogs with age related disqualifications such as color (as related to age), height, teeth etc. are permitted to receive awards in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy classes. Dogs must be excused for attacking a person or other dogs. No dog is to be judged if it is brought into the ring bandaged, taped, glued or stitched anywhere including ears or tail. These dogs must be excused from judging but, at the judge s discretion, may return to be judged after the tape or bandage is removed. Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give reasonable notice to the Show Superintendent/Event Secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. This policy extends to Junior Showmanship, the 4 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions. Emergencies In emergency situations, with the approval of the Show Chair, breeds customarily examined on the ground may be examined on a ramp, not on a table. An emergency is defined as a temporary condition that arose immediately prior to or at a dog show. Convalescence from a medical procedure, illness and recuperation from injuries are examples of conditions that are not emergencies. The emergency use of a ramp may be allowed on a day and may be extended to include a cluster as well as judging either a group and/or Best In Show. (In all but emergency situations, the exhibitor has no recourse. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund).
