1 A Brother for Budhna - Unit 2 Worksheets: Reader 4 More Reading Worksheet 1 A Reason to Live Pets are important for people. Research shows that people who own pets live longer and there are various other health benefits too. Pets teach children to be better speakers and help them become confident adults. In fact, having a pet at home can be as important as having a loving family. Our family has always had pets Some family dogs make good hunting companions as well. I had an Irish setter that went hunting for birds with my husband. She was alert and active in the woods but at home she was a quiet dog. This dog was taken to Obedience trials and won ribbons in dog shows. Our family has warm memories of this family pet. Guide dogs are another important group of pets. I remember a man who used to be guided to church every Sunday. He used to sit in the first row with his guide dog. No one was allowed to pet the dog while it was on the job. The dog, a beautiful German shepherd, was obedient and inspiring to watch. There are other dogs that are valuable family pets. I had two mixed breed dogs that I used to walk daily. I miss them very much. I have so many fun memories of them.

2 Of course we had cats along with these dogs. It is a myth that dogs and cats do not get along. If they are brought up together they tolerate each other and sometimes even learn to love each other. It is best to bring them in as puppies or kittens so that a close bond is formed. It is impossible to imagine a day without pets in my life. My pets help me in many different ways, constantly showering love and attention. Based on an article by Christina R. Jussaume
