4 INSPECTION GUIDELINES The following are the point-by-point guidelines regarding items looked at during the inspection process for the above stated inspections. 1. Sanitation & Care a. Storage of Food Supplies: Food supplies shall be stored in a location and container, which adequately protects it against infestation or contamination by vermin & Perishable food refrigerated. b. Animal Food, Waste and Debris Removal: Provision shall be made to remove wastes daily. Disposal shall be made so as to minimize vermin infestation, odors and disease hazards. Perishable food refrigerated. c. Walls and Floors made of material, which can be easily sanitized: Nonabsorbent material, which can be readily sanitized. d. Proper Drainage: Constructed to eliminate excess water from indoor housing. Drains constructed and maintained in proper repair to avoid foul odor or backup from them. e. Number of times fed daily: Shall be properly fed according to the species size and requirement.. f. Food/Water dishes durable and clean: Disposable may be used if discarded after each feeding. Dishes shall minimize contamination from excreta, be free of mould, caking or food deterioration. g. Food wholesome and sufficient: Free from contamination, wholesome and palatable and sufficient quantity and nutritional value to meet normal daily requirements for condition and size of animal. h. 5 General Condition of Animals 2. Shelter a. Sufficient shade: When sunlight is likely to cause overheating or discomfort, sufficient shade shall be provided to protect animals from direct rays to the sun. b. Shelter from inclement weather: Sufficient shelter to allow animals to remain dry during rain or snow. c. In good repair, structurally sound: In adequate repair to keep the animals from injury, to contain them, to keep predators out, and to allow animals to remain clean and dry. d. Adequate size for animals: Provides adequate space to allow each animal to turn around freely, easily stand, sit or lay in a normal position and exercise. e. Shelter overcrowded: The number of animals shall not exceed a number that would allow proper ventilation and sanitation. f. Shelter properly cleaned: Excreta removed as often as needed to prevent contamination of animals kept there and to deduce disease hazard and odors. g. Ventilation adequate: Fresh air provided by windows, doors, vents or airconditioning and ventilated to reduce drafts, odors and moisture condensation. h. Perimeter containment: Outdoor facilities shall be fenced around the perimeter so that animals cannot escape or other animals gain entrance. 3. Is the facility a *nuisance or health hazard to neighborhood: Check Animal Control complaint files, Code Enforcement and neighbors. *(Ord ) 4.
