5 30-Weave Up-and-Back Competition Rules General Description Dogs compete head-to-head on a 30-weave pole course, with a turnaround component on one end. The competition format is single-elimination, in a tournament or ladder bracket, meaning the first dog to cross the finish line wins that heat and moves up the ladder towards the finals, and the other dog is eliminated. Prior to the final race, there will be a consolation round to determine 3 rd and 4 th place. Rules: Both dogs will enter the course at the same time and weave the first 30 poles. After the 30 poles, each dog will run through an agility tunnel, then return to the poles and weave all 30 again back toward the start. In the event of a missed pole, the dog must go back and re-enter the course at that point as directed by the judges. Any missed poles not completed shall result in a forfeiture of that race. Each dog will start 10 in front of the first weave pole. Shorter fields may lessen this distance. The start line will be shown to you by the organizers. The entire body of the dog is to remain behind this start line until the start is given. Handlers however, may position themselves anywhere prior to the start. A verbal start will be given by the public address announcer, as follows: go. Dogs crossing the start line prior to go will be issued a false start and the entire race shall restart. Three (3) false starts by one dog will result in forfeiture of that race, with the other dog advancing. The turn-around tunnel shall be 25 away from the last weave pole. Shorter fields may lessen this distance. Handlers may run down either side of their weave pole course. Dogs may enter the weave pole course on either side. Dogs may enter the tunnel on either side. The finish line is the horizontal plane of the last pole (not the start line). Handlers may bring toys or treats onto the competition field. Friday Procedure: The Friday practice session will start with seeding races. Seed times will be used to determine the head-to-head match-ups for Saturday. Each competitor will run a course solo, once, for time. If they chose to, they may run the course a second time after all 8 competitors have run once. Missed poles must be re-run in accordance with the rules (above). The better of the two times, or just the one, will be the seeding time for a competitor. In the event a defending champion from the previous year is competing, that competitor will receive an automatic #1 seed. Seeds will then be paired for Saturday s competition as follows: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5
6 Immediately after seeding races on Friday, competitors are then encouraged to run the courses again for practice in a head-to-head format. This is encouraged, but not required. Up to 2 additional runs are allowed for each competitor in this format. Saturday Procedure: The match-ups will be available from the organizers prior to the competition. The organizers will direct the competitors to enter the competition field. Competitors are to decide amongst themselves which course they will run. If they desire the same course, a coin toss will determine their placement, which will be called by the higher seed. The head-to-head races shall then proceed one after the other in accordance with the General Description and Rules above. After the final 2 competitors are determined, the remaining semi-finalists shall first race in a consolation heat for 3 rd place. The top 3 finishers shall proceed to the stage for an awards ceremony.
7 Large & Small Dog Agility Competition Rules Procedure: The Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge includes both a Small Dog Division and Large Dog Division, as outlined below. Friday of the event is a designated practice day, where each handler and dog run the agility course twice. The course will be set prior to this practice. The run order will be established prior to the event by the sponsors and organizers, and will be available prior to practice. All Small Dogs shall practice the course one time, followed by all Large Dogs. A second run will then immediately occur in the same fashion Small first followed by Large. Saturday is the actual competition day, which will replicate the practice day. There is no practice run on Saturday. A course review shall occur again, followed by one run of Small Dogs then one run of Large Dogs. A second run in the same order will occur, with the better of the two times determining the winner.
