The daughter is 5/8 the age of the mother. If the mother is 282 years older than the daughter, what is the total age of the two vampires? Math Word Problem 8 Brandon had two sisters whose heads were crawling with lice. The blonde sister had 126 more lice than the brunette. If the brunette had 7/9 the number of lice of the blonde, what was the total number of lice on their heads? Brandon got rid of the pesky lice for them by setting their hair on fire.

In a month's time, he had used up 23 bottles of cat shampoo and 1/5 of the bottles of dog shampoo. Now he has an equal number of dog and cat shampoo bottles. How many bottles of cat shampoo did he steal? Math Word Problem 10 Florence wanted to form her own sensational animal orchestra. She bought 197 ducks and pigs from Farmer Fred and began training them to play musical instruments. After a week of intense training, she realized that 2/5 of the ducks and 53 pigs had no musical talent. She roasted those animals on Thanksgiving Day and ate them with her family members. There was an equal number of ducks and pigs after that. The remaining animals performed for the Queen of Gondwanaland on her birthday. How many ducks performed that day?

6 Math Word Problem 11 Carl Cat wanted to create a rodent circus. He caught 195 rats and mice two years ago. He taught the rats gymnastics. He trained the rats to become clowns. After 6 months of training, he realized that 75 rats and 1/3 of the mice had no talent at all. Being a kind cat, he gave away those rats and mice to his toothless friend, Bruno. He had an equal number of rats and mice after that. His circus became an international success a year later. How many more rats than mice did Carl catch in the beginning? Math Word Problem 12 A raccoon died in my backyard last week. When I peered at it with a magnifying glass yesterday, I found 700 maggots and earthworms jostling in the smelly body of the raccoon. When I sprayed the raccoon with bug spray, 4/5 of the maggots and 202 earthworms died. An equal number of maggots and earthworms were left in the body after that. How many more maggots than earthworms were nestled in the body of the raccoon in the beginning?

7 Math Word Problem 13 Sammy lived in a small village. A big bandit swaggered into the village last year and began to demand for goats and chickens from the poor villagers. Brave Sammy killed the bandit with his slingshot and became a local hero. He had some red, green and yellow pebbles left after that. 1/2 of his pebbles were red, 1/5 of his pebbles were yellow and 27 pebbles were green. How many pebbles did he have altogether? Math Word Problem 14 When I walked into my classroom yesterday, I was alarmed to see my math teacher calmly teaching some gorillas, chimps and gibbons fractions. 1/4 of the animals were chimps. 2/5 of the animals were gibbons. There were 42 gorillas. How many animals were studying math altogether?

8 Math Word Problem 15 I had a dream last night. Some parrots, peacocks and toucans were breakdancing at a concert. 2/9 of the birds were parrots. 1/2 of the birds were peacocks. There were 85 toucans. How many breakdancing birds did I see altogether? Math Word Problem 16 There was a chuckling competition at a pond near my house. The animal with the loudest chuckle would get to kiss Princess Glorat, an obese alligator. A large number of well-dressed frogs, toads and newts participated in the competition. 3/11 of the animals were frogs. 2/3 of the animals were toads. There were 84 newts. How many animals in total chuckled that day?

9 Math Word Problem 17 Percy Pirate, Brian Bandit and Captain Crook sailed their ship into a sea dragon's cave and killed the dragon in a fierce fight. They later gleefully collected all the gold coins that the sea dragon had hoarded in its cave. Percy Pirate took 1/7 of the coins. Brian Bandit grabbed 2/3 of the remaining coins. Captain Crook pocketed the rest. If Brian took 250 more coins than Crook, how many coins were there in total?
