6 Meet Some Of The Fascinating Animals That Inspired The Characters In Disney s The Jungle Book! Bears are happy just wandering around, searching for food and, of course, scratching! Although most comfortable on land, bears are terrific swimmers and great tree climbers. Sloth bears eat mostly fruits, berries, seeds and insects. Pythons can t hypnotize with their eyes but are still dangerous. The biggest python recorded was 33 ft. long. Pythons use their tongues to taste, smell and analyze their surroundings. An elephant uses its trunk not only to smell but to touch and to bring food to its mouth like a hand! Elephants can march up to 9 miles in a day. Adult male elephants can weigh 10,000 lbs. and eat over 600 lbs. of plants in a day!
7 Meet Some Of The Fascinating Animals That Inspired The Characters In Disney s The Jungle Book! A black panther is a leopard with black fur. They can grow to over 200 pounds and more than 8 feet long. Their long tails help them keep their balance. Black panthers are expert tree climbers. Orangutans can grab branches and hang from them using only their feet. An orangutan s arms are longer than its legs. Every night an orangutan builds a brand-new nest to sleep in, high up in a tree. Most tigers have bright orange fur and all have unique black stripes. Tigers are the largest kind of cat. They can weigh up to 650 lbs. Most cats avoid water, but tigers like it and are strong swimmers.
