1 Cloud is doing pretty well! We left his name as Cloud because it is so cute! We've been moving recently and that has been a little rough, but we are all adjusting well. We are a little worried about him being bored, so we have been trying to find things to keep him entertained. He is very curious and he now explores the bathroom, bedroom, and living room. He is potty trained very well. We had a great experience with Greenhill. Even though we live in Corvallis, we would definitely come back to adopt again. We are actually thinking of getting a cat, and so we might take a trip to Greenhill to adopt again! Cloud hasn't had a vet exam yet, but there are no major health concerns that we are worried about. We haven't noticed any behavior or temperament issues, and he did very well around other adults when we had some family watch him. He has not been around children or other animals yet. Overall, he has been a great addition! He's doing great. There was no point in changing his name as he can't hear anyway. The lack of hearing is the biggest challenge. I bought a vibrating collar and I'm trying to teach him to come when he feels it with pretty much no success so far. We wouldn't have adopted him if our other dog didn't like him. She was sort of cool to him at first, but they snuggle up together now. He had some serious infections in both ears, but those are cleared up. We'd hoped that treating the infection would restore his hearing, but it didn't. He has a bit of arthritis he gets joint supplements for. He loves the food I make for the dogs. Between that and regular walks he's losing some weight.

Kim started volunteering in September 2017 and has already contributed over 230 hours of service to our shelters. In the time she has been volunteering with us, Kim has been eager to help with a variety of volunteer opportunities and help other volunteers learn and refine their skills. Our dogs, kitties, and other volunteers and staff always look forward to seeing Kim each week! Kim seems to do it all for us! She works in our Dog Enrichment Program as both a volunteer and a trainer for other prospective volunteers. In addition, she gets her cat fix as a Team Leader in our cattery by helping with customer service, socialization, and cleaning. One of her favorite parts of her volunteer service is the opportunity to build lasting friendships with volunteers and staff who love animals as much as she does. The part that makes Kim happiest, though, is playing matchmaker for all of our shelter animals. My heart fills with joy when I see the smiles and excitement on the face of an adopter when they have found their furrever friend. After growing up in Southern California, Kim moved to Oregon 34 years ago. She and her husband enjoy country living on a three-acre lot, and her daughter lives nearby with her own husband. She has had a plethora of animal companions of her own, including chinchillas, rabbits, parakeets, cockatiels, a parrot, goats, llamas, chickens, horses and (of course) cats and dogs. Kim currently works part time a Registered Nurse, a profession she has been in for 36 years. Kim spent 6 years training her dog in Agility and Rally/Obedience. Her dog s final title was earning her Canine Good Citizen. Losing her dog to cancer last year was what inspired Kim to volunteer with us, and since that time, she has learned what a difference dedicated volunteers can make for animals who may come into the shelter feeling very scared. As she put it, Seeing the changes in their behavior to be able to trust again and be loved on fills up my love meter! Annabelle Affectionate lap kitty looking to be your one and only feline friend. Come say hi at First Avenue! Meet our Foster of the Month, Christie Prottsman! Christie and her family have been an awesome foster family for a year this month! Christie and her family decided to start fostering because volunteering at the shelter conflicted with their schedule and thought fostering at home would be a better fit for them. She says, I love getting little kittens and teaching them to love and trust. I love that moment when they come out and start digging in to their wet food. I just love seeing them blossom and become happy mini cats! We asked Christie to tell us about one of her most memorable foster cases and she said, I had an amazing time fostering Loki, a tiny kitten who s test for FeLV was inconclusive. He started out very quiet and timid, but by the end of his stay with us, he was far more active and loving. That's when I realized the importance of being a good foster. Christie is a writer and works from home. She says, Sometimes it's tough when the kittens want to be snuggled up on my lap when I have a paper due, but it's worth it! It can be really hard giving back kittens once they're old enough to be adopted, but it's important to realize that keeping the kittens only helps that set. When you give kittens back, they'll soon be adopted and there will be dozens more that need you each year. If what you really want is to make an impact, fostering is an immediate way to do exactly that!

3 Abu had settled into our house within a couple of hours of being adopted. He is doing very good. I haven't taken him to the vet, he seems healthy. He is great with my 5 and 6 year olds, gives them kisses. The only time he gets nippy with them is when they kiss him on the face. The adoption went smoothly. I see no need to improve it. Farley is such a good soul, he is totally laid back and just wants to get along. I saw his cute picture in Eugene Weekly and it haunted me for days. I came in to visit him, was notified about his skin condition, but that's ok with me. My puppy days are well over, and Farley is the right dog at the right time for me. He gets along famously with my two housecats, they are dog savvy and just ignore him. He has just ingratiated himself with everyone, and loves his dog bed. He has only growled and woofed once, when he saw a possum out of the window. He saw the vet and we are continuing the anti-fungal meds and shampoo, he has a bath twice per week, his skin is doing better though it may not be possible to completely clear it up. He is not around kids. We have been to the park and he got to meet everyone, I did discover that he did a bit of guarding of me, but he settled down. He has obviously been wellloved and trained. Loves to go for car rides. The adoption was so delightful, staff were so excited that I was interested in adopting Farley. They were totally helpful and fabulous. He is a sweet old man; this is win/win. Zack is doing fine and we get along great. Just me and Zack and everything. He is tough as nails! It would take an asteroid to take him out. He is a really well trained dog and is a great companion for me. He is our little guy, we love him and are glad he is part of our family. He is adjusting well to our home and our existing pets. It took a couple of weeks for the dog and Sheldon to be friends, but they are great now. Sheldon is full of energy he runs up and down the hallway. He is a cuddle guy, and loves to curl up and sleep with us in the evening. There have been no issues with him. He has seen the vet and received a shot,he will go back in a week for a booster and an additional shot. Adopting from Greenhill was a wonderful experience. Everyone was friendly and the process went quickly.

4 We changed Chewy Newy's name to Bell. She has been doing really good and is part of the family. We have had no behavior or temperament issues. She has been to the vet, and she had worms when we took her in. We took care of that and got her shots, and she was healthy otherwise. We had a good experience with Greenhill, and would adopt again. She's my best friend, my heart. I'm in love with my pet! We are bonded. Today is the second time I've had her outside. I'm worried about it, but I want her to have some outside time. The first week I noticed she was having a respiratory problem, so we went to the vet and she got on antibiotics and is fine now. She was so good at the vet. I am so blessed with this cat. I feel love for the staff at Greenhill. You do a "bang up" job! Serena is doing very well and is my best friend. She is so very affectionate & rubs on my legs the minute I get home from work. She's big for a female, about 14 lbs. She needs to lose weight. My roommate has a 4 month old kitten & they have been hissing at each other, but things are improving. No aggression. We had to cancel the vet appointment, but will reschedule soon. We call her Lani. Within one day Lani was living on our huge couch and slowly interacting with us. She is a joy and we love her dearly. She loves to gallop through the house, especially chasing toys. She absolutely loves her toy mice and brings them back to us. She loves to follow us around the house to be apart of anything we are doing. She is still scared of visitors and stays hidden while are grandkids are here. Our son and his family is going to be visiting for a month, so she will have a chance to meet new people being in the house. She hasn't had any litter box issues. She has been to the vet twice and is caught up on her shots. I loved being at Greenhill with its cleanliness and friendly staff and volunteers. Everyone seems to love animals.

5 Samantha C. (SAR) - Samantha C. "got caught" taking on the HUGE task of putting together a Small Animal Room handbook. She had some extra time this summer which easily could have gone into other possibly more fun tasks but instead she agreed to help with this much needed project. What a difference you make Sam! Kim H. (Cattery) "got caught" clocking in early for her companion shift to help with an overflowing pile of litter pans. Wow- way to go above and beyond, Kim! It really doesn't take that much out of your time and you are helping a dog feel loved. Addi A. - Foster Parent

6 Oreo's name is now Kona. He is a great rabbit. He is very mischievous but sweet. He loves to toss his ball in the air. He has fit right in to our family with no problems at all. He has no health concerns. He does like to chew so when he is running around we have to watch him carefully. We've tried to bunny proof his area as much as we can. He seems fine with people and our dog. We are still getting him used to our other female bunny. For now they have separate living areas right next to each other. We kept the name Tiffany. When I was volunteering as a cattery companion at Greenhill I saw her and I knew she would be a good companion to Teddy the kitten we adopted this last November. Those too are the best of friends. They chew on each other s ears and bite each other s tails. They play nonstop, and when they are wore out they sleep together. We have tall cat trees for both kitties to play on and lots of toys. We haven't had any behavior or. training problems. I love how when I pet. her while she's sleeping she purrs and when I stop petting she stops. She is such a loveable girl. We took her to the vet and she has almost all of her shots. Basically I get to cuddle and play with cats for two hours. I highly recommend the gig! Christine Gray - Volunteer We renamed Trevor Ravioli. He has been great! When we took him to the vet, he was totally healthy. They told us to bring him back after he got his last rabies shot in a few months to check on his heart murmur, but he is okay for the time being. We had a good experience when we adopted from Greenhill, and would do it again. Everyone was great. He hasn't been around other animals to much, but is great around our company. He did encounter a dog the other day and ran out of sight. We have not noticed any behavior or temperament issues at all, and has been a great addition to our family!
