5 SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS The show is held under Licence and Rules of the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and is open to all. As a copy of the Rules is NOT included with this Schedule, all exhibitors are reminded that they should read Section 4 of the Show Rules, as they will be strictly applied. Ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse for a breach of the Rules. Copies of the Rules may be downloaded form the GCCF website or obtained from the GCCF Offices, 5 Kings Castle Business Park, The Drove, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 4AG. REGISTRATION No Cat or Kitten, Entire or Neutered, born after with one or both parents, grandparent/s or great grandparent/s unregistered shall be eligible for entry into the Open Classes. All Cats, Kittens and Neuters are eligible for the Show if registered with the GCCF, except those on the reference register. All registered exhibits which have changed hands, must have been transferred to their new owner at least 21 days before the Show. All registrations and/or transfers must have reached the GCCF Office at least 21 days before the Show. If the registration number has not been received when completing the entry form, write N.A.F. (Number Applied For) in the appropriate column and forward the number as soon as possible to the Show Manager. Your first choice of name should be entered in the appropriate column. SHOW ENTRY The Exhibitor must complete the entry form as stated on the registration/transfer certificate. Exhibitors are responsible for the correct description of the exhibits and for entering them in the correct classes. Please do not omit to Read and Sign the declaration. For joint owners, either or both may sign the form. If you provide no address, please send SAE or postcard for confirmation of entry. VETERINARY Exhibits will be received at the Show Hall from 7:45am until 9:45am on the day of the show. Vetting in slips will be given out on the day of the show. All exhibits must be inoculated against Feline Infectious Enteritis FVR & FCV (Cat Flu) the full course in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations must have been completed 7 days before the show. The Certificate must have been issued by a Veterinary Practice / Hospital and the last vaccination entry signed by a Veterinary Surgeon or by a listed Veterinary Nurse under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon. Vaccination Certificates should be available at vetting in. These should be properly completed and clearly indicate the identity of the exhibit and the owner to avoid confusion which may result in rejection from the show. Homeopathic vaccinations are not acceptable to the GCCF for the purpose of vetting in. Cats without valid certificates will be rejected under Section A, unless the exhibitor undertakes to provide proof of vaccination by sending the certificate to the GCCF office within 7 days of the show. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification from the show and the cat s name will be placed on the veterinary rejection list until proof of vaccination is received in the Office. Exhibits must have clean ears and coats free from pests and be free of communicable diseases. The following will not be admitted: exhibits which have been de-clawed together with polydactyls, folded ears, curly tails and any other abnormality: with the exception of de clawing, this does not apply to non pedigree exhibits. Queens who are pregnant, lactating or who have kittened within the past 12 weeks may not compete; Male cats (over nine months) which are either Monorchid or Cryptorchid or Vasectomised Cats may not be shown. Any exhibit rejected by the Veterinary Surgeon must be removed by its owner and the Entry Fees are forfeit. If in the Veterinary Surgeons opinion it is desirable, all other exhibits from the same household and owner shall be debarred from attending the show. In all cases the Veterinary Surgeon s decision is final. Exhibitors (Owners) shall be responsible for the cost of any veterinary treatment required by their cat(s) in their absence from the hall. Veterinary Surgeons and assistants MUST NOT smoke whilst handling cats. PENNING OF EXHIBITS Double pens are usually available at extra cost. Every exhibit must be provided with a white sanitary tray and water bowl, clean, plain white or near white blanket or blankets without distinctive marking or edging, which may be arranged in such a manner as to assist the comfort of the cat. Cellular blankets are not allowed but white Vet bed or like material with white or green backing may be used if preferred. Show equipment can be purchased at the show. A hot water bottle OR HEAT REFLECTING MATERIAL or COOL PACK may be used, provided they are

6 covered by the blanket, in accordance with GCCF Rules. Any other form of heating will lead to disqualification. All exhibits must have water, but food containers must be removed when judging commences at 10am and may not be returned until 1:00pm. Judges are instructed to pass any pen that is distinguished in any way. Other than official notices or award cards, no written or printed matter may be placed on competitive pens. Exhibition pens only may be decorated and may carry printed matter relating to the exhibit. Exhibits actually received into the Show Hall cannot be removed without the sanction of the Show Manager. They are only received on the condition that the club shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to exhibits, boxes or baskets or in any other way. Cats which are not normally resident with their registered owner should be transferred into the ownership of their keeper if they are to be shown. Exhibitors are reminded that in the event of rejection, all exhibits in the same registered ownership may also be rejected and clearance may be required for both households. The show closes at 5:00pm. No cat may be removed from its pen before this time. This Rule will be strictly enforced. No one may remove a cat from its pen except the owner or a Club Official. Judges are empowered to withhold any prizes or championship in any class if the exhibits do not, in their opinion, possess sufficient merit. Prizes will be awarded from the judge s slip, not from any catalogue or prize card. The Judges decision is final. The Committee reserve to themselves the right to: (1) Appoint other Judges should those advertised be unable to fulfil their engagement and to appoint further Judges should they be required. Also to change judges if it becomes necessary to avoid overloading judges for Miscellaneous and Club Classes. (2) Refuse an entry without giving a reason. (3) Cancel, amalgamate or divide classes. (4) Refuse admission to the Show hall without giving a reason. (5) Disqualify cats entered in the wrong classes by the exhibitor. (6) In the case of the Show being cancelled for any reason the club reserves the right to retain a percentage of fees to defray essential expenses. (7) No exhibitor may remove any official notice from the cat s pen. (8) All Exhibitors and stallholders property is left in the Show Hall at the owners risk. STEWARDS No person may steward at all for any judge under whom he or a member of his / her household is exhibiting in an Open Class. This includes cats not entered in the Open but to be considered for Best of Breed. No person under 16 years may steward. SPECIAL NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS 1 In the event of a cat being unable to attend due to illness, providing a Vet s Certificate is received by the Show Manager, a refund of up to 50% of the entry fees (excluding benching fee) may be made at the Show Managers discretion. 2 FOR SALE signs will not be allowed on the pens. 3 The Show Manager, on behalf of the committee, reserves the right to pass on to the exhibitor any charges incurred when cheques are refused payment by the Clubs bankers. PLEASE NOTE: ALL ADULT, KITTEN & NEUTER OPEN CLASSES WILL BE SPLIT MALE AND FEMALE WHEN BOTH SEXES ARE ENTERED. KITTEN NEUTERS MUST ENTER THEIR RELEVANT BREED OPEN CLASS IN THE KITTEN SECTION, KITTEN MISCELLANEOUS & CLUB CLASSES

7 VETERINARY CLEARANCE CERTIFICATES Exhibitors whose cats have been rejected at shows please note the following points: 1. When sending your clearance certificates to the Veterinary Officer, please include your copy of the rejection slip. 2. Please DO NOT send these certificates by recorded delivery post as this can cause considerable delay in the receipt of your certificates. If you wish to satisfy yourself that your letter has reached the Veterinary Officer please enclose a stamped addressed postcard acknowledging receipt, for signature and this will be returned to you. 3. Exhibitors should not attend shows until they have received a letter accepting and confirming clearance. It is recommended that this letter be taken to shows within one month of issue of the clearance letter. 4. Homeopathic vaccination cannot be accepted for the purpose of showing under Section 4, Rule 4f. VETERINARY LETTERS (Amended Notice) In the past, cats showing signs of skin lesions might have been allowed entry to a show on production of a letter from their Veterinary Surgeon, stating the origin of the lesion. This was subject to the agreement of the Duty Vet. This Is no longer applicable; such letters are no longer accepted at shows and any exhibitor presenting a cat with any skin lesions indicative of ringworm is likely to be rejected at vetting in. The GCCF Chief Veterinary Officer recommends exhibitors not to take a cat to a show if it has any skin lesions indicative of ringworm, however small. DEFINITION OF CLASSES BREED CLASS: Open to untitled cats of the specified breed. (Must be GCCF Registered) GRAND CLASS Open to Champion/Premier titled cats IMPERIAL GRAND CLASS Open to Grand Champion/Grand Premier titled cats OLYMPIAN CLASS Open to full Imperial Grand Champion/Imperial Grand Premier titled cats (The above classes are collectively referred to as OPEN classes) CATS: Not less than 9 calendar months of the day of show. KITTENS: Not less than 14 weeks and under 9 calendar months on the day of the show. Neuter kittens are entered in kitten Breed & Miscellaneous classes and compete for BIS Kitten. NEUTER ADULTS: Neuter adults may only enter Neuter Classes and may not compete with entire cats or kittens except in Club Classes which are scheduled to include Neuters. Where Best in Show is held, the best Neuter shall be considered against the best Entire Adult and Kitten for Best Exhibit in Show. LIMIT: Exhibits that have not won more than four First Prizes in any class at a show held under GCCF Rules. NOVICE: Exhibits that have not won a First Prize in any class at a show held under GCCF Rules. DEBUTANTE: Exhibits that have never been shown at a show held under GCCF Rules. (Entry as a Kitten does not count when the exhibit is shown as an adult or neuter and entry as an Adult does not count when the exhibit is shown as a neuter. MAIDEN: Exhibits that have not won a First, Second or Third Prize in any class at a show held under GCCF Rules. BREEDERS: Exhibits bred by exhibitor/s. Cats originally registered in the Breeder s joint ownership but changed to single ownership of one of the Breeders can still be entered in this class. Cats originally registered in the Breeder s single ownership and changed to joint ownership with the Breeder should be entered in the Non- Breeders Class. JUNIOR: Cats over 9 calendar months of age and under 2 years on the day of the show. SENIOR: Cats 2 years and over on the day of the show.

8 The status of the exhibit for entering restricted classes (i.e. Maiden, Limit, etc) shall be the cats status on the date of entry, except where Section 2, Rule 7e regarding entry into Grand, Imperial and Olympian classes applies. Wins as a Kitten do not count when the exhibit is shown as an Adult or Neuter; wins as an Adult do not count when the exhibit is neutered and shown. Merit Awards do not count as wins for entering restricted classes. Notes: To be eligible for entry into the Grand Champion or Grand Premier Classes, the status of Champion or Premier must be attained on or before the closing date for entries as published in this schedule or any extended closing date published on the GCCF website. When counting wins / prizes, include all awarded in any class at a show held under GCCF rules. NO EXHIBIT MAY BE ENTERED IN MORE THAN 6 CLASSES including consideration for BOB for a titled cat. NOTICE OF CHANGE An announcement on the GCCF website of any alterations made in this Schedule or in the rules and Regulations shall be deemed sufficient notice. GENERAL GUIDELINES ON ENTERING SHOWS Where possible, always complete your show entry form using details from your GCCF Registration Certificate for the cat hat is to be exhibited. Please print the details carefully to avoid any misinterpretation of your handwriting. If the Registration Certificate you have does not show your name and address this means that the cat is not registered in your name and you must transfer the cat into your name no later than 10 days before the show. Transfer can be done instantly using GCCF Online Services at If you have not received your Registration Certificate at the time of entry, complete the show entry form with the details from the pedigree, giving the first choice of name if it is a non-prefix registration, and put RAF (Registration Applied For) or TAF (Transfer Applied For), or both, in the Regd. No. box. It is wise to enclose a stamped self-addressed acknowledgement postcard with all registration and transfer applications, particularly for cats entered for shows, so that you know that the application has been received by the GCCF. It is recommended that you keep a copy of your entry form then, when you receive registration details and number, check these against the entry form and notify the Show Manager in writing of any differences in the details as well as giving the registration number, if applicable. This may not be in time for the printing of the show catalogue, but the Show Manager should attach your letter to your entry form which will save unnecessary notification of discrepancies when the show is checked. All catalogue errors are checked against the original entry form and any exhibitors letters are used for reference. Show managements are permitted to accept corrections, at their own discretion, up to the close of the show (on show day). Any such correction must not be an addition or substitution of any exhibit for which proof of entry cannot be validated, or a change of exhibitor/owner. If you are entering several cats from your household and the registered owners (exhibitors) differ within that household/family, use a separate entry form for each different ownership (e.g. exhibitors A & B one form for cats owned by exhibitor A, one for cats owned by exhibitor B, and one for cats jointly owned by A and B). Exhibitors are reminded that the decisions of the judges are final. Any attempt to influence such decisions, or to identify a cat or ownership of a cat to a judge at a show before that judge s engagement has been completed, may render the offender liable to disciplinary action. 9 IF THERE IS A MISTAKE ON YOUR ENTRY WHAT TO EXPECT MINOR ERRORS. Should a small error be made these will be resolved between Exhibitor, Show manager and/or GCCF. Persistent repetition may result in further action being taken.. Incorrect Date of Birth. This is usually classed as a minor error unless it affects an entry into classes based on age groups, when it could warrant disqualification of the exhibit from such classes; but if the incorrect date of birth affects the age suitability as a whole, then the exhibit will be disqualified from the show. N.B. AGE LIMITS: Kittens not less than 14 weeks and under 9 calendar months on date of show Adults not less than 9 calendar months on date of show Incorrect Name of Exhibit/Owner. If registration/transfer details were obviously available at the time of entry or before the date of the show, disqualification is inevitable. The following discrepancies are those which usually arise: EXHIBIT OWNER/EXHIBITOR Totally incorrect name Declaration not signed by at least one of the registered owner(s) N.B. The exhibitor(s) must be the registered owner(s) of the cat and not necessarily the person who actually takes the cat to the show. Registration/Transfer Not Received by the GCCF 10 Days before the Date of the Show These entries will be disqualified. Remember, the effective date of all registrations and transfers is the first date of valid receipt by the GCCF. Transfer of Exhibit from Exhibitor to a New Owner Received by the GCCF More Than 10 Days before the Date of the Show Entries such as these will also be disqualified as the exhibitor s entry form becomes invalid. Incorrect or Ineligibility of Class Entry These will be disqualified from the class concerned so always check with the Show Manager if in doubt about which class to enter. If a breed number is changed officially, it is important that you notify the Show Manager immediately Exhibits entered in the Grand, Imperial Grand or Olympian class must have qualified on or before the published closing date of the show or any extended closing date published on the GCCF Website and the title must have been claimed in writing by that date. Exhibitors who enter Grand, Imperial Grand or Olympian classes without claiming the title will be reminded once, but if the title remains unclaimed the cat will be disqualified from this class at subsequent shows. CAT REGISTERED ON THE REFERENCE REGISTER Most cats registered on this Reference Register (CSREF) are not eligible to be shown and, therefore, these entries could be disqualified. One exception to this is when a new breed becomes recognised, and then cats of the breed may be shown, even if they were originally registered on the Reference Register as long as this was the only reason for the Reference registration. Exhibitors may appeal against any disqualification resulting from show checking, giving their reasons. The appeal will be referred to the GCCF Board if considered valid and, if not, a letter of explanation will be sent to the exhibitor(s). The above advice, however, is aimed at keeping your show entries trouble-free. WARNING Breeders and owners are hereby warned by the GCCF of the unfortunate consequences which may follow the sale of WHOLE LITTERS TO ONE BUYER. The Trans Pennine Oriental & Siamese Cat Club cannot be held responsible for Cats or Kittens bought at the Show, neither will they be held responsible for details of such which may appear in the catalogue. NO SPRAYS OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED IN THE HALL. The pen may be wiped down with a little cotton wool dampened with any non toxic disinfectant before putting the exhibit into it. Any cat or kitten whose coat has been dyed (i.e. Shampoo with a colouring agent) will be disqualified. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ENTRY CAREFULLY All spellings, dates, sexes and registration numbers must be correct.

This written confirmation must be signed by the Secretary and stamped with the GC APPLYING FOR A PREFIX - Breeding prefixes cost 75, for overseas residents the cost is 100 and applicants must be a member of a GCCF affiliated cat club at the time of application. CERTIFICATE OF ENTIRETY - All male cats used at stud must have a Certificate of Entirety supplied to the GCCF signed by a Vet, prior to registration of kittens. This must contain the microchip number of the cat, verified at the time of examination and the A Certificate of Entirety form can be downloaded from the GCCF website or by sending an s.a.e to the GCCF Office. No fee is charged by the GCCF. We recommend you keep a photocopy for your own records and to show to owners of visiting queens. MATING CERTIFICATES Section 1 Rule 3d (effective 1 June 2002) When a litter is registered, the application to register must be accompanied by a copy of the certificate of mating unless the person registering the kitten(s) is also the registered owner of the sire. (Rule added ) The owner of the stud cat must provide a Certificate of Mating to the owner of the queen upon collection of the queen (amended/effective ). 24 How to find The Stockport Masonic guildhall Car Park Stockport Masonic Guildhall is located on Wellington Road South (the main A6 road) which runs through the centre of Stockport and is only minutes from the M60 motorway. They have extensive parking for in excess of 100 vehicles, the care of which is supervised by their Security Personnel whenever the building is in use. Stockport Masonic Guildhall is situated on many major bus routes, notably the 192 route which runs between Manchester and Hazel Grove, and stops outside the building. Stockport railway station is only a 5 minute walk.
