At Baronet Cats, we not only supply you with a complete paper file, we also send you an electronic version which incorporates at least 6 photographs of your kitten as a kitten before you receive him/her. The following file is an empty example file. This example file does not include the GCCF Registration Document or the Vaccination Certificate. But rest assured your kitten file will. 5 UNDERSTANDING THE SALES AGREEMENT The first section states what date this agreement (Contract) is made and the two parties that have made the agreement The second section states the total price paid for the kitten which is named and also that the kitten is to be kept as a pet only. SALE AGREEMENT FOR PET ONLY This section is an agreement that you, or anyone else will not allow the kitten to be used for breeding purposes in whatever form. You agree to have the kitten neutered by 12 months of age and provide proof of neutering to BARONET Cats. THIS AGREEMENT is made the day of 20 BETWEEN (herinafter called 'the Vendor') of the one part and (herinafter called 'the purchaser') of the other part WHEREBY IT IS AGREED that for a consideration of receipt of which the Vendor hereby acknowledges the Vendor agrees to sell and the Purchaser agrees to purchase the kitten described herein under the name of AND THE PURCHASER COVENANTS to undertake to keep the kitten as a household pet only. Not under any circumstances whatsoever to use the kitten for breeding or allow the kitten to breed with any other cat of the same or different species, neither will the Purchaser allow any such use to be made of the kitten by any other party. If for any reason it becomes necessary for the Purchaser to transfer the property in the kitten to a third party the Purchaser undertakes to inform the Vendor of their intentions to transfer the property in the kitten and to obtain from the third party a covenant in similar terms to those obtained herein. That the kitten will be neutered by a Veterinary Surgeon/Practitioner, before attaining the age of twelve months. He/she will produce to the Vendor a Certificate from the Veterinary Surgeon/Practitioner stating that this has been carried out. In the event of these covenants being breached the Vendor shall have the right to repossess legally the kitten and to be reimbursed by the Purchaser the reasonable cost of such repossession and the keeping of such kitten for a period of up to two months after repossession. Such costs to include Veterinary examination and fees. AS WITNESS the hands of the parties. VENDOR Dated This section outlines that if you need to transfer the kitten to another person you will inform BARONET Cats of your intention and also make an agreement with the same terms as this one with the new owner. PURCHASER Dated Both parties sign the agreement. A copy going to each party. Note: This agreement is really for the first twelve months or up to proof of neutering whichever is the latter. Once neutering has been carried out then the agreement will cease to exist as there is no stipulation of real terms after neutering. This section states that we could take legal action against you if the terms of the agreement are not adhered to. We could not take your kitten without prior consent and a court order would have to be sort in order to carry out the term of this section BARONET CATS

7 A New Home For Your New Kitten. LITTER So, I know where my litter tray is and you have put an inch of litter that was supplied to you in the litter pack. This litter is available from Asda and is environmentally friendly. If you scoop out the waste on a daily basis, it will last a few days. HOW EXCITED AM I? I am so excited about going to my new home, but I am also a bit apprehensive, so here are a few neat instructions for you to make my move that little bit more comfortable. Firstly, I need to know where my litter tray is situated, once I know that, I am sure I won't make a mess. SCRATCHPOST I use a scratch-post for a number of reasons, one is to relieve stress, another is for exercise, and also to keep my claws nicely manicured so that I can climb, I know how to use a scratch-post, please get me one so that I don't forget and use your furniture! TOYS I love toys, not only do they keep me entertained, toys also exercise me and help me gain coordination skills. They are also a good tool for adult-cat interaction. I need a fresh supply of new toys every couple of weeks. Your kitten pack has some toys included to get us started. FOOD I am not too keen on having my food close to my litter tray, after all I am not a dirty animal! I like to eat Royal Canin Kitten Instinctive and Royal Canin Kitten 36 which is available from 'Pets At Home'. Your Kitten Pack will have a 400g bag of the Dry Food which will last for ages, so no need for you to rush out to buy some! HIDING AWAY Now, in the first few days I will require a nice quiet environment to settle into. Sometimes if it gets too much for me I will want to hide away, but if you find me trying to hide away all of the time, don't be alarmed, but I hope you take the time to entice me to come out and mingle. I will eventually get used to you and come out more and more often. WATER Please, Please, Please, make sure I have plenty of FRESH water available at all times, I like water, it's good for me, my kidneys and my general health. IMPORTANT Prior to making any changes to my litter or food, please let me completely settle into my new home. I can't cope with too many changes at once. If and when you do decide to change my food or litter, please do it gradually. That way you will keep me happy. The same rule applies to introducing me to your children and other pets. Please take it gradually and after a settling-in period. Please do not leave me alone with your other pets, especially dogs BARONET CATS

12 The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Giving Cats Care Forever! The GCCF is the premier registration body for breeding and showing pedigree cats in the UK. The health, welfare and wellbeing of all cats is our mission. Whether you are a breeder, cat owner or someone looking for a specific breed or a household pet, we offer information, advice and expertise to help you breed, own or choose the right cat for your circumstances and lifestyle. GENERAL CODE OF ETHICS FOR BREEDERS AND OWNERS Registered owners of all GCCF registered cats/kittens accept the jurisdiction of The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and undertake to abide by this general code of ethics. 1. Owners should think carefully and take advice before getting a kitten and choose a breed suited to their lifestyle. They should only keep as many cats as they can care for adequately. 2. Cats and kittens must be provided with warm and comfortable housing,with plenty of opportunity for exercise and play. Cats should be kept indoors at night for their own safety. Drinking water must be available at all times and cats must be fed regularly and adequately. Breeders will supply written details of all dietary requirements and give guidance concerning responsible ownership when placing cats in a new home. 3. All cats need some grooming to keep the cat in good condition and to check for parasites, e.g. fleas. Longhair cats need daily grooming to prevent the formation of knots and matted areas of fur which cause them considerable discomfort. 4. Veterinary attention must be sought whenever a cat is showing signs of illness. 5. Cats that are bought as pets, not for breeding, should be neutered or spayed at an age recommend by your veterinary surgeon. If cats are registered on the Non-Active register, this means that under no circumstances should they be bred from; no progeny from these cats will be registered by the GCCF. 6. Breeders agree only to sell cats where there is a reasonable expectation of a happy and healthy life. An offer should be made at a the time of sale to help with the rehoming if at any time circumstances require the cat to be found a new home. 7. Owners should not sell any cat to commercial cat wholesalers, retail pet dealers or directly or indirectly allow cats to be given as a prize or donation in a competition of any kind. 8. Breeders must not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed nor falsely advertise cats nor mislead any person regarding the health or quality of the cats and must draw attention of purchase to the implications of the Non-Active register when selling pet kittens. 9. Breeders selling kittens on the Active register should offer advice and support to the new owners. Owners should not breed cats in a way that is deleterious to the health of the cat or the breed. 10. Owners should consider carefully the best means of identifying their cats in case it should become lost. 13 your veterinary surgeon and then registering the number of your cat with PetLog registration scheme run by Kennel Club/RSPCA and also by notifying the GCCF of the cat s chip number. The alternative is for the cat to wear some form of identification on a collar. However, there are dangers for cats wearing collars, as they may become hooked up and caught by them or more likely the collar will break or come off the cat s head, therefore preventing easy identification. 11. Breeders/owners must ensure that all relevant Governing Council of the Cat Fancy documents are provided to the new owner when selling or transferring a cat in accordance with Rule 10 (see below), including a copy of this code. Recommendation The GCCF strongly recommends that no kitten should be permitted to go to a new home before 13 weeks of age. A least seven days prior to this the kitten should have completed a full course of vaccinations, including a health check, given by a Veterinary Surgeon or by a listed Veterinary nurse given under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon. The breeder should ensure that the kittens are house trained, inoculated and in good general health. Mating Certificate:- Section 1 Rule 3d When a litter is registered, the application to register must be accompanied by a copy of the certificate of mating unless the person registering the kitten(s) is also the registered owner of the sire. The owner of the stud must provide a Certificate of Mating to the owner of the queen upon collection of the queen. Transfer of Registration Section 1 Rule 10 10a When a cat or kitten is advertised or sold as a pedigree cat or kitten, the breeder shall, at the time of sale, provide the purchaser with a properly completed pedigree signed by the breeder, carrying 3 generations at least showing all the breed numbers and registration numbers and also the breeder s name and address. If the vendor is not the breeder, the pedigree must additionally be signed by the vendor. If the cat/kitten is not registered, a copy of the mating certificate (Rule 3d) shall be supplied by the vendor to the new owner. 10b. If, at time of sale, the cat or kitten is registered the seller shall provide the purchaser with a transfer form, duly completed and signed by the seller,unless it is jointly agreed in writing by both parties at the time of sale not to do so.
