Each year July 4th, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event. There are parades of all kinds all over the United States, and fireworks going off everywhere. LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!! 5 6 Talk About It DID YOU KNOW... The butterfly symbolizes the embodiment of the spiritual growth and transcendence perhaps more than any other life form on earth because of the amazing transformation from a little caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly. The life purpose of every butterfly is to set everything that was once known aside and embrace in the entire new way of being. The butterfly is the symbol of supreme transformations and is filled with Grace, Beauty and the Magic of believing. COMING SOON TO A GARDEN NEAR YOU ARE THE MONARCH BUTTERFLIES SPIRITUAL CONNECTION Growing up, we have all seen the beautiful butterflies of summer. As a kid, I am sure we have all found a cocoon (also called Chrysalis) and watched it hatch into a beautiful Butterfly. As you can see in the picture above it s absolutely amazing how beautiful it is to see this happen, and it is hard to imagine that this butterfly was once a little tiny egg the size of a period at the end of a sentence. The milkweed is starting to grow, so if you are outside look closely you might be able to see a cocoon. There comes a time in life where there is so much pain only a lady can bare. The birth of a new life drowns out the pain that was endured. Oh, the precious smile on a baby s face and the laughter shortly thereafter. There is a nothing as precious as a newborn baby, yet to get there is no greater pain. As the seasons come and the seasons go, sometimes painful and slow, we must keep our chin up and learn from the little baby. She knows no sorrow nor distrust, but in her eyes knows nothing but love.
6 7 Interesting Cherry Facts By: Brian K. Rosso, R.D. Michigan ranks No. 1 in the nation for growing cherries. I hope you find the following facts on cherries interesting. Cherries, especially dark cherries, are a greater source of antioxidants than grapes, oranges, plums, strawberries and raspberries combined. There are more than 1,000 different cherry tree varieties in the U.S. It is believed that cherries were discovered around 70 B.C. One cup of cherries has only 74 calories. Cherries are actually part of the rose family. The largest cherry pie ever weighed was 39,683 pounds. Eau Claire, Mich., is known as the Cherry Pit Spitting Capital of the World. It holds an annual cherry pit spitting contest. Cherries contain cyanidin, which is an anti-inflammatory and can help treat gout. The average cherry pie has 250 cherries. The annual U.S. cherry crop is 300 million pounds. Michigan cherries make up 75 percent of this count. Michigan has 35,000 acres of cherry trees. BLUE ANGELS The Blue Angels is the United States Navy s flight demonstrations squadron, with aviators from the Navy and Marines. In 1946 this flying team was formed, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world. The Blue Angels demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet, typically in more than 70 shows at over 30 locations throughout the United States. The Blue Angels can be seen here in Traverse City, Michigan at the 2016 National Cherry Festival. Pictured above is a Beautiful cherry tree in full bloom. Spit a Cherry Pit for Good Health Once you eat the cherry, what do you do with the pit? Spit it out at the International Cherry Pit Spitting Championship, annually on the first Saturday in July in Eau Claire, Mich. Cherries are a good source of vitamins A and C and potassium. Sour cherries contain more beta carotene than the sweet varieties. They also contain pectin and anthocyanins, which are flavonoids linked to the prevention of cancer and heart disease. Cherries, Cherries and MORE CHERRIES!!!
