2 Brown Egg Layers New Hampshire Red Developed in New Hampshire from Rhode Island Reds, they are an extra-large, early maturing, dual-purpose breed. They are prolific producers of extra-large eggs and tolerate our cold New England winters extremely well. Mature birds are a rich chestnut color and have an excellent disposition. Black Australorp One of the best layers of large, light brown eggs of all the heavy breeds. They are extra-large birds of a quiet & gentle nature and stand confinement well. Pullets will mature early & will start laying at about 5 months of age. Excellent cold tolerance. Barred Rock One of the all-time favorite dual-purpose breeds in this country. They are prolific layers of large, brown eggs and very tolerant of our cold New England winters. Their solid plumpness and yellow skin make a beautiful, heavy roasting fowl. A large bird of good disposition. Silver Laced Wyandotte A large, colorful, hardy, productive breed. The closefitting rose comb and good body size are valuable assets for winter laying. Cold weather doesn't seem to bother them at all as their hardiness and vigor keep them laying large brown eggs straight through the winter. Buff Orpington Extra-large, stately birds of a quiet disposition. They are an excellent dual-purpose breed. Their heavy, full plumage make them outstanding winter layers of large eggs. These Golden Beauties are one of the most popular breeds around. They are also excellent setters and mothers.

3 Specialty Breeds Araucana/Ameraucauna (The Easter Egg Chicken ) A special cross known for their ability to lay colored eggs of shades varying from turquoise to deep olive to shades of brown. Beautiful birds, the adults are of medium size and exhibit a combination of colors and patterns. A unique breed and great fun when the eggs start coming! Red Star (Sex-Link Variety) One of the best extra-large, dark brown egg layers that continue to lay right through hot or cold weather. A large, early maturing bird with an excellent disposition. They bear confinement well and are extremely winter hardy. A sex-link chick is one that can be sexed by their color at time of hatch. Andalusian This medium sized breed is very striking with their delicately blue-laced plumage. They are good egg layers of large white or slightly tinted eggs. They are very tolerant of heat so our hot summers do not affect their egg production. Light Brahma A very old feather footed breed originating from Asia. An extra-large bird that is exceptionally quiet, gentle and easy to handle. Their small pea comb, great size and heavy plumage make them almost immune to cold weather. Good producers of large eggs, especially in winter, and will also set. Blue Cochin This stately, gentle, feather footed variety is very rare and extremely beautiful. The bluish-slate color is quite striking in Cochins. They are good layers of large brown eggs.
