4 Benching times: Friday 20 April 2018 from 17:00 20:00. Birds will only be accepted on Saturday morning 21 April 2018 from 06:00 08:00, if the exhibitor is unable to bench on Friday. All KZN Members to please try to bench on Friday 20 April Birds sent by air: Please contact the Transit Manager, if you are sending birds by air and ensure that payment for the return flight, is made in advance. Birds must arrive at the King Shaka international Airport not later than 15:00, on Friday 20 April 2018 and will not be dispatched back before 18:00, on Saturday 21 April Please let the Transport Manager know by Monday 9 April 2018, of your intention to send birds by air, so that show cages can be arranged. Briefing of Stewards: All members wishing to Steward must be at the hall for briefing at 08:45, on Saturday 21 April Judging: Judging will commence at 09:00 on 21 April Show Hours for the public: Saturday 21 April 2018 from 10:00 to 15:00 Prize Giving: Saturday 21 April :30 All prize money will be paid into the winner s bank account, after the show, please provide Hillary Potgieter with your banking details. De-benching of Birds: Saturday afternoon 21 April 2018 at ±17:00 after Prize Giving. When it is announced that de-benching may commence, collect your birds and make your way to any exit point in an orderly queue with your birds for booking out. Please do not remove any exhibit from the staging before de-benching time. Out of Town Exhibitors will be de-benched first. Special Request: If you know of a member of your Club who wishes to enter birds but did not receive a show catalogue and entry form, please be kind enough to make him/her a copy of the schedule and entry form. Club Secretaries are requested to please inform their members of this show.

5 Standard for Show Cages 1. Show cages that do not comply with the standard as detailed in Appendix F and G of the Rules framed in terms of the Constitution of the BSSA (Volume 2) will not be accepted. 2. Wooden show cages 2.1 All exhibits benched with white unmarked plastic fingerdraw drinkers fitted to the show cages between the 1 st & 2 nd vertical wires on the left-hand side vertical facing the cage and resting on the 2 nd horizontal bar from the bottom of the wire front!!! 2.2. All exhibits benched with blue unmarked plastic fountain drinkers fitted to the show cages in the 2 nd vertical wires from the left perch when facing the cage and resting on the 2 nd horizontal bar from the bottom of the with front!!! 3. Wire show cage 3.1. All exhibits benched with blue unmarked plastic fountain drinkers as supplied by the society to be fitted to the back of the show cage between the 8 th and 9 th vertical wires counting from the left, resting on the 2 nd horizontal bar from the bottom All exhibits benched with white unmarked plastic fingerdraw drinkers to be fitted to the back of the show cage between the 8 th and 9 th vertical wires counting from the left, resting on the 2 nd horizontal bar from the bottom. The back of the show cage is on the opposite side to the BSSA logo printed on the left bottom of the tray. 4. Only plain clear water with no additives must be used in the drinkers before judging. 5. Show cage floors shall be covered with only a combination of three (3) seeds namely canary seed, white millet and jap millet plus optionally oats or grots and no seed or sawdust may be used. Bio-security The F10 BIO-Security precautions as communicated in the BSSA Minutes of 4 May 2006 has been adjusted: Due to the new show cages having limited area which can be sprayed without wetting the birds, this procedure has been adjusted. Wire show cages don t need to be sprayed before benching. However all staging namely; show staging, designated staging area, judges stands, benching area stands as well as any benching and steward tables and chares in the venue to be sprayed before birds enter the hall. Judges wipes must be provided and senior stewards to ensure judges make use of the wipes as have been done in the past. NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE SHOW VENUE

6 REGULATIONS 1. The Show Rules and Show Schedule of the Budgerigar Society of South Africa shall apply. 2. Birds entered in wrong classes are entirely the responsibility of the exhibitor. Entries unaccompanied by the correct entry fee will not be accepted. Entry fees will be forfeited in respect of birds not benched. NO ALTERATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED ON ENTRY FORMS AFTER RECEIPT BY THE SHOW SECRETARY BUT ADDITIONAL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCPTED BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE IF ACCOMPANIED BY THE RELEVANT FEES. 3. The officials will ensure that all exhibits are properly cared for but will not, however, be responsible for any loss of, or damage to the birds or cages that may occur for any reason whatsoever either during the show or in transit to and from the show. Whilst extreme care and attention will be paid to the exhibits whilst at the show, exhibits are entered at owner s risk. 4. No person shall be allowed to remove from the staging any exhibit except with the permission and in the presence of the Show Manager. This rule will apply throughout the duration of the show. 5. Photographing of exhibits by spectators is permissible but under no circumstances may the exhibit or the show cage be touched or removed from the staging. If an official photographer is appointed for the purpose of taking photographs for publication, he/she may move the exhibit to a safe room and transfer it into a photographic cage but only in consultation with the Show Manager who will delegate a steward to assist. 6. Only show officials and members of the BSSA Management Committee will be allowed to move freely in the hall whilst judging is in progress. However, space allowing, spectators will be allowed to move around in the hall to view the birds on the staging but the judging area, in which only show officials and member of the Management Committee will be allowed, will be cordoned off. 7. Smoking ALL TYPES and the use of alcoholic drinks in the vicinity where judging is taking place is strictly forbidden. Anybody contravening this regulation will be reported to the show manager and the BSSA representative and will be removed from the show venue. DE-BENCHING 8. Exhibitors are to collect their de-benching sheets from the Show Secretary on (Saturday 21April 2018 after prize giving). 9. At the announcement that de-benching may commence, birds are to be collected and an orderly queue formed by exhibitors with their birds and de-benching sheets at any exit point for booking out. 10. Exhibitors are requested NOT to remove any exhibit from the staging prior to the official announcement that de-benching may commence.
