HatchCare Automation Stress-free chick processing Combining innovations for better chick quality Viscon has developed an intelligent automation process to match the philosophy of HatchCare: creating a stress-free environment for optimal chick growth. This newly developed automation, combined with the new HatchCare trays and baskets, creates unique synergy in animal-friendly production. The result: improved chick quality, lower mortality rates and reduction in antibiotics use. Reducing the use of antibiotics. HatchCare Concept: Hatching with feed and water. Viscon Automation Features Excellent Bio-Security Better chick quality Stress-free chick processing Healthy Chick Chick Production Welfare Live Embryo Detection TM Accurate in-ovo vaccination Precise Points-down setting

Live embryo transfer Live Embryo Detection Live Embryo Detection accurately indicates which eggs contain a living embryo and classifies the non-viable eggs as infertile, early or late dead embryos. Only eggs with living embryos are being transferred to the HatchCare trays. The unwanted eggs (including contaminated eggs or eggs with dead embryos) are excluded from the remaining production process, creating a more hygienic and safer environment during hatching. Points-down hatching Viscon s re-packing station delivers an accurate points-down placing of eggs onto the HatchCare trays. This makes it easier for chicks to break out of the shell during hatching. Effective in-ovo vaccination The Vinovo Select Inject lifts the viable eggs gently out of the HatchCare tray and re-positions each egg in a perfect perpendicular position under the injection tools. This ensures each vaccine to be delivered in the amniotic fluid or the optimal position in the embryo itself - for optimal effect and efficient protection. Automatic feed dosing The required amount of feed is dispended automatically into the HatchCare baskets. Feed amounts can be adjusted based on flock characteristics and amount of eggs placed in the tray.

Stress-free chick handling In HatchCare, chicks are provided with water and feed as soon as they hatch. The chicks remain in the HatchCare basket from the moment of hatching to their arrival in the poultry house. They no longer go through automated sorting and counting machines, providing a stress free environment. No touch chick separation Most of the egg shells and unhatched eggs remain in the upper tray, which is automatically taken from the crate. The number of unhatched eggs is automatically identified and this data is send to the quality control station. Stress-free chick counting The number of unhatched eggs is displayed at the quality control station where a worker will refill the required number of premium chicks, while he also checks for chick quality unhatched 87-1 culled premium 1 2 3

Health & Bio-Security Wanted eggs Live Embryo Detection improves the transfer procedure by accurate detection of living embryos and reverses the sequence of egg processing. First, only eggs with living embryos are transferred to the hatcher baskets. The non-viable eggs remain untouched in the setter tray for processing in a separate waste room. The fact that eggs with dead embryos and bangers do not enter the hatchers anymore, creates a more hygienic and safer environment for chicks to hatch. Unwanted eggs and waste The prevention of cross-contamination is a major factor when designing a hatchery layout. Viscon reduces the risk of cross-contamination and pathogen load by processing waste disposal in separate rooms. Proper handling and responsible disposal of hatchery waste is a precondition for optimal bio-security, to deliver healthy chicks. Cleaning Viscon provides industrial washing and drying systems suitable for the special dimensions of the HatchCare products. These cleaning systems are developed to meet the high market standards of bio-security. Our hatchery design avoids physical crossing of dirty and clean products by separating pre-soak, washing and clean storage areas.

Tregg TM Hatchery information system Tregg TM is Viscon s hatchery information system created to provide all the required functionality to manage overall data management and trace-ability of the production process. The transfer room is the ideal place to collect pre-hatch management data. These figures are summarized per flock and can be used to predict hatching numbers and monitor the breeding and incubation performance. The development of Tregg TM is done by Viscon s own team of dedicated professionals. Optimum tracking of hatching results. TREGG TM Living embryos Unhatched eggs Late dead and early dead embryos Culled chicks Infertile eggs Delivered chicks
