2 CHICKENS Bantams All bantams are sold as straight run only Chicks: [4.90 ea. for 5-10] [4.75 ea. for 11 or more] Dutch This very small bantam originates from Bantam Island in the Dutch East Indies; they are active, hardy and can become very tame. Varieties: Black, Blue, Light Brown, Blue Light brown, Self -Blue, Silver and Mille Fleur. Bantams - Clean Legged Belgian Bearded d Anvers Developed in Belgium, the d Anver is very small and nicely marked in many different varieties. Varieties: Quail and blue quail Modern Game The Modern game originates from England, it is a tall elegant breed kept mainly for exhibition. Varieties: Red Pyle, Birchon, Black, Lemon Blue, Blue and Silver Blue Japanese Developed in Japan these birds are beautiful and unusual with their very short legs; they do not require much space. Varieties: White, Black, Mottled, Black Tailed White, Black Tailed Buff and Grey. Sebright Developed in Britain these bantams are eye catching with their attractive laced feather pattern. Varieties: Silver, Golden and Buff Old English Game Developed in England the Old English Game is hardy and athletic and comes in a variety of nice colors. Varieties: Black Breasted Red, Silver Duckwing, Gold Duckwing, Red Pyle, Silver Blue, Self Blue, Blue, Blue Quail, Lemon Blue, Black, Buff, Creole, Chocolate, Wheaten, Fawn Silver, Black Tailed Buff, Cornish Developed in England the Cornish are a stocky bird, they are tame and easy going. Varieties: White, Dark, White Laced Red and Blue Laced Red. Black Rosecomb This breed originates in Britain, the Rosecomb s nice form and feathering makes it popular for showing and for an attractive addition to the backyard flock. 1
3 Barred Plymouth Rock Developed in England, the Barred Rock bantam is very popular. Like its larger counterpart, this bantam is a good layer. Ameracauna (Easter Egger) Like its larger counterpart, the bantam Ameracauna is a good layer of green and blue eggs. Buff Orpington Developed in England, the Buff Orpington bantam is active, docile and striking in its buff plumage. Rhode Island Red Developed in the US, this bantam is attractive with its dark red feathering; the hens are good layers. Bantams - Feather Legged Brahma Brahma bantams are nicely colored docile birds; the Brahma hen makes a good broody; this breed can withstand cold temperatures quite well. Varieties: Buff, Dark and Light Cochin Developed in China, Cochins are friendly, cute, and popular as show birds and the hens make good mothers. Varieties: Barred, Black, Blue, Buff, Gold Laced, Mottled, Red, Silver Laced, White, Black Frizzle, Red Frizzle and White Frizzle. Silkie Silkies originate from the Orient. These birds are unique with feathering that looks more like fur, they are friendly and the Silkie hen makes an excellent broody. Varieties: Black, Blue, Buff, Grey, Partridge, Red, White & Self Blue White Leghorn The Leghorn bantam was developed in the US; it is a good layer, an excellent show bird and with handling can become quite tame. White Crested Black Polish This bantam is outstanding with its large white crest and completely black body feathering, an excellent show bird. Wyandotte This bantam is friendly, docile and very attractive; the hens make good broodies. Varieties: Silver Laced, Gold Laced, Buff, Blue Laced Red and Blue. Sultan The Sultan bantam was developed in the U.S. This bird has a crest, beard, muff, feathering on its legs and toes, vulture hocks, five toes and completely white plumage. Belgian Bearded d Uccle Developed in Belgium the d Uccle is a truly beautiful bantam that actually improves in looks over time. 6 Rare and Unusual Breeds The following rare breeds are sold as straight run only: Chicks: [4.30 ea. for 5 10] [4.10 for 11-25] [3.95 for 26-50] Chantecler Developed in Canada, the Chantecler is a beautiful dual-purpose breed that can withstand cold weather. Varieties: White, Partridge and Buff Spangled Russian Orloff An unusual and friendly breed of chicken that has a beard, muffs and a walnut comb, the Orloff is believed to originate from Iran. Mottled Java This breed originates in the US; A calm breed that lays brown eggs and has very striking black and white mottled plumage. Barred Holland This rare American breed is calm and lays white eggs. They do well foraging and can also handle confinement well. The following rare breeds are sold as straight run only: White Chantecler hen Silver Gray Dorking A very old breed in the English Class of poultry, these birds are very attractive and a good all round dual purpose breed. Egyptian Fayoumi The Fayoumi is from Egypt; it is rare, fast maturing, very hardy and a good free ranger. Tinted egg Silver Spangled Spitzhauben This breed was developed in Switzerland and is kept mainly for its uniqueness; they have a pointed crest, which bends forward. Black Sumatra Developed in Asia, the Sumatra is kept largely for its beauty and for showing. White or tinted egg Sicilian Buttercup This breed originates from Italy and is very unique looking with its cup shaped comb; it is also a good layer. Red Jungle Fowl The Jungle fowl is a wild chicken that comes from Asia; it is believed that all modern day breeds are derived from this bird. Tinted egg Phoenix The Phoenix breed was developed in Japan; they are primarily kept for show and exhibition due to their unusually long and beautiful tail feathers. Varieties: Gold and Silver Red Shouldered Yokohama Developed in Japan, the Yokohama is a striking bird with very long hackle, saddle and tail feathers. Tinted egg Red Caps This English breed has plumage that is reddish brown in colour with black tips; it has a very large rose comb. White Laced Red Cornish Developed in England, the Cornish breed is large and muscular. Chicks: [4.40 for 5-10] [4.20 for 11-25] [4.00 for 26-50] Dark Aseels Aseels were developed in India; they are very strong and aggressive chickens. Black Breasted Red Malay Known for their belligerent nature, the Malay is long legged and tough looking, males will protect their hens fearlessly. Black Shamos Developed in Japan, this breed has a very tall and upright stance. Like all the game breeds, the males have to be kept separated. Cuckoo Maran Similar in color to the Barred Rock, the Cuckoo Maran lays a darker brown egg. Welsummer Developed in Holland this breed lays beautiful dark Terracotta colored eggs; the birds are also very nicely marked. Buck eye This American breed is a nice mahogany colour. They have a pea comb which makes it a nice choice in cold areas; they are also very friendly. Dominique This American breed is similar looking to the Barred Rock; one way to differentiate between the two is the Dominique s rose comb compared to the Barred Rock s single comb. Ameraucana Easter Egger Developed in the US, this breed lays blue and green eggs and is friendly in nature. Straight run chicks: [3.70 for 5-10] [3.50 for 11-25] [3.35 for 26-50] Sexed chicks: [4.55 for 5-10] [4.35 for 11-25] [4.20 for 26-50] Green or blue egg 5
7 Production Layers White Leghorns The White Leghorn is undoubtedly one of the best layers. Sexed chicks: [3.05 for 5-10] [2.95 for 11-25] [2.85 for 26-50] GUINEA FOWL French This is a fast growing heavy guinea, kept for meat production. St. run: [5.05 for 1-10][4.85 for 11-25] [4.70 for 26-50][4.60 for ] Pearl Grey The most common guinea; they are gray with little white dots throughout their plumage. Straight run: [5.60 for 1-10] [5.40 for 11-25] [5.25 for 26-50] Harco This hybrid will lay large brown eggs in high numbers; it is a quiet friendly bird. Sexed chicks: [3.05 for 5-10] [2.95 for 11-25] [2.85 for 26-50] Red Star Another excellent egg layer, this bird will lay many large sized eggs under variable conditions. Sexed chicks: [3.05 for 5-10] [2.95 for 11-25] [2.65 for 26-50] White An all white guinea; they are nice to mix with other colors for contrast. Straight run: [5.90 for 1-10] [5.70 for 11-25] [5.55 for 26-50] TURKEYS Broad Breasted Bronze The bronze is much more colorful than the white, this is one of the reasons some people prefer this bird. Straight run: [7.75 for 1-10] [7.55 for 11-25] [7.40 for 26-50] Heritage Turkeys These turkeys are the old original varieties farmed before the commercial breeds were developed. They are nicely marked and slower growing than commercial turkeys. Varieties: Bourbon Red and Ridley Bronze. Straight run: [13.00 for 1-10] [12.75 for 11-25] [12.50 for 26-50] Pied These birds are a beautiful mix of white and gray. Straight run: [5.90 for 1-10] [5.70 for 11-25] [5.55 for 26-50] Ridley Bronze Bourbon Red Lavender These birds have lavender colored feathers with white dots throughout their plumage. Straight run: [5.90 for 1-10] [5.70 for 11-25] [5.55 for 26-50] Guinea fowl free range very well and are an excellent choice for natural insect control around the property especially important is their effective control of ticks. 6
8 DUCKS White Pekin An all-white bird with orange beak and feet, Pekins grow really fast, they can reach 8 lbs. In 7 weeks! Straight run: [4.65 for 1-10] [4.35 for 11-25][4.20 for 26-50] Rouen These birds are very similar looking to the wild mallard; however, they are a lot larger than their wild relatives. Straight run: [5.10 for 1-10] [4.90 for 11-25][4.70 for 26-50] Blue Swedish This attractive duck is all blue except for a white patch on its chest and some white on its wings. Straight run ducklings: [6.05 for 1-10] [5.95 for 11-25] [5.85 for 26-50] Sexed ducklings: [7.05 for 1-10] [6.95 for 11-25] [6.85 for 26-50] Buff The Buff Orpington is from England; both sexes are buff colored, the male has a gray head. 9 Dewlap Toulouse This breed is very majestic looking due to its large size and dewlaps. Very gentle in nature and can become quite tame. These birds are rare and limited in availability. $85.00 each for sexed goslings or $75.00 each for straight run goslings. Pilgrim This is a gentle breed, males are white, and females are gray. Sexed: [23.00 for 1-10] American Blue A gentle breed, this bird has the unique blue colored pattern $55.00 each for sexed goslings or $50.00 each for straight run goslings. American Lavender This lavender coloured goose is not very common; it is very nicely marked and docile in nature. $55.00 each for sexed goslings or $50.00 each for straight run goslings. Brown Chinese This goose is brown and fawn in color with a dark brown stripe along the back of its neck, its beak is black and it has a black knob on its head. 10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Most of our birds are hatched weekly and may be available as such; however, large orders and most of our special breeds need to be ordered well in advance of your desired pickup date. Due to circumstances beyond our control, such as availability of eggs and hatching results, we cannot guarantee all orders to be filled on their expected dates; however, we will do our best to ensure that they will be. Some of our breeds do very well at poultry shows, however, we do not guarantee show quality birds; we do guarantee purebred birds. Bantams, certain rare breeds, turkeys and guinea fowl are sold as straight run only. Poultry order minimums: you must order at least 5 chicks or 3 ducklings or 2 goslings or 3 turkey poults or 5 guinea keets. After placing your order, a 20% deposit is required which can be made by cheque, money order, interac e-transfer, Visa or MasterCard. Add 15 cents per bird per day, for started birds. Vaccination for Mareks is 15 cents per bird. If looking for poultry not listed, please inquire for availability. After placing your order The following is required: Once your order is confirmed, a 20% Deposit is required within two weeks, if your deposit is not received within 3 weeks of the date your order confirmation was sent to you, your order may be cancelled without notice. Please note: large orders will be subject to a 50% deposit. Also note that your deposit is non-refundable once your order is within 4 weeks of your confirmed hatch date. Balance of payment can be paid upon pickup by cash, money order, Visa or MasterCard We will call within a couple of days of hatch date to arrange for time of pick-up Please note that we are very busy on pick up days and it is possible for things to back up which can result in waiting for your order beyond the set time for pick up.
