1 Inaugural Spring Gala Special Olympics Eastern Region Swimming Gala hosted by Saturday, 18th April, 2015 at the Hertfordshire Sports Village de Havilland Campus, Hatfield Business Park, Mosquito Way, Hatfield, AL10 9EU Registration/Warm Up First Race Finish 5:30/5:45pm 6:00pm 9:30pm approx PROGRAMME 2.00

2 Awards Athletes have been divisioned by their time in accordance with Special Olympics Rules. After each Race the athletes will be awarded 1st-3rd places with medals and 4th-8th places with a Certificate. Participation Certificates will be presented to athletes who have been disqualified (including those breaking the Honest Effort Rule). Swimming Technique Full ASA Technical Rules are implemented for Special Olympics Swimming Events. A swimmer will be disqualified if they are deemed as infringing any of the ASA Laws and no time will be displayed. The athlete will receive a Participation Certificate at the Awards Ceremony. Honest Effort Rule As all events are "time banded" and awards presented for each event, it is important that accurate entry times are used. Special Olympics has adoped an Honest Effort Rule (HER) in addition to ASA Technical Rules. If a swimmer swims 25% fatser than their entry time in 25m Freestyle they will be disqualified under the Honest Effort Rule. For all other Events if a swimmer is 15% faster than their entry time they will be deemed to have broken the Honest Effort Rule and will be disqualified and presented with a Participation Certificate. The time they swim will be published in order for them to update their records for their next competition. 18/04/ Page 2 of 16
