1 Open to all youth in 3rd grade to 12th grade in Texas. Individual entry only. Participation will be divided into three grade divisions. Divisions: Junior (Grades 3 to 5) Intermediate (Grades 6 to 8) Senior (Grades 9 to 12) Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of poultry, rabbits, or dairy goat breeds. The show Superintendent will set out either live animal specimens or pictures of each species for participants to identify. Breed ID Contest After participants have identified the breed, there will be a second question related to anatomy (parts, skeleton, digestive system), standards of perfection, selection criteria (conformation or disqualifications), and/or quality of assurance (Housing, equipment, health, and/or nutrition). Participants must get the breed correct for the secondary question to be considered. Note: Poultry will be limited to chickens and ducks. Exhibitor can submit up to one entry. Participation will be divided into four grade divisions. Divisions Clover (Grades K to 2) Junior (Grades 3 to 5) Intermediate (Grades 6 to 8) Senior (Grades 9 to 12) Guidelines: Costumes must be representative of 4-H youth, use your imagination. They should meet dress code requirements and not depict horror, alcohol, guns, tobacco, or be cruel in nature. Costumes/Props should be designed and constructed in part by exhibitor. Parental assistance with costume design is encouraged, particularly with the younger age exhibitors. In order to be fair to all costume exhibitors, it is recommended that costumes and props should be of your own design, and not be rented or borrowed from any business and/or organization. Open to all youth exhibitors entering cockerels or roosters in the show. Exhibitor can submit up to one entry. Guidelines: Roosters will be given 15 minutes to crow within a specified timeframe Roosters will be cooped individually. Exhibitors may use any method Costume Contest The exhibitor should be prepared to answer any question regarding the costume and/or prop or about your companion animal (rabbit, chicken, duck, or dairy goat) Exhibitors are encouraged to be in costume along with their animal. Judging Criteria: Creativity (20): Ability to produce or create (not purchase) something unique, new and original. Showmanship (25): Stage personality, poise, confidence, expression, stage presence. Costuming (25): Appropriate for age and youth audience, fits well and is flattering. Material Chosen (15): Appropriate for audience and the ability of the performer. Audience Appeal (15): Evokes reaction from audience that is desired from the performance. Only TWO entries allowed per exhibitor. Rooster Crowing Contest 1 10 except touching the coop or rooster to encourage crowing. Judging Criteria: Rooster that produces the most crows during the 15 minute timeframe will be declared the winner. The exhibitor with the winning and second place rooster will receive a crowing award.

Divisions Categories Poultry, Rabbit, or Dairy Goat - Still Life: Specific species alone or in a group which are posed or not moving. Category will be divided by species for judging. Poultry, Rabbit, or Dairy Goat - Active: Specific species alone or in a group which are in motion or doing an action. Category will be divided by species for judging, pending a minimum of 5 photos are entered. Poultry, Rabbit, or Dairy Goat - Mixed Emotions: Multiple species showcased in the photo which depicts animal emotions. Storyboard: One digital entry that contains three to five photos and minimal text that tells a story. Not required to be animal specific. Awards Quality Awards: Blue, Red, and White quality awards will be given to entries based on the scoring criteria People s Choice Award: One People s Choice award will be presented. Attendees at the Grayson County Fur and Feather Show will have the opportunity to vote for People s Choice from the top entry in each category. Photography Contest Contest Rules: All photos must have been taken by the exhibitor entering them in the contest. All photos must have been taken during the last year. All entries must be flush mounted on a matte or foam board without a border and in a protective sleeve. Photos Size: Any size between 5x7 and 8x10 will be accepted. All entries must have the appropriate show photo label supplied in the show catalog. Number of Entries: Exhibitors may enter one photo per category for a maximum of four photos. Photos that are deemed inappropriate or otherwise violate any laws are strictly prohibited. The Texas 4- H and Youth Development Program respects the rights related to copyright laws and intellectual property. Disqualification of an Entry: An entry that does not follow the rules or category guidelines will automatically be disqualified. Disqualifications forfeit all entry fees. A general form letter specifying. Reasons for disqualification: Incorrect size. Photo does not meet category criteria or entered in correct category. Photograph file not labeled correctly to ensure identification. Entered into incorrect category. Same photo entered into multiple categories. Inappropriate or unsuitable photograph. Entry fee not paid or only partial fee paid. 9 General Show Rules Entry forms can be downloaded and mailed with show fees or completed online at Mail Payments to: Grayson County AgriLife Office ATTN: Fur, Feather, and Show 100 W Houston St, A-G-1 Sherman, Texas Make checks out to: Youth Advisory Board All show animals should be in place by 10:00 am on Saturday, December 15, Due to the Loy Lake Holiday Lights, the building will not be available on Friday evening for early check-in. Exhibitors will be responsible for feeding and watering of their animals. Water will be available on-site. Animal Release - It is preferred for exhibitors to not remove animals until after the Costume Contest starts. No party associated with this show will be held liable for losses or accidents while attending the show. A lost and found will be set up on the south end of the building near the concession stand. This show is open to youth in Kindergarten to 12th grade, who reside in Texas. 4-H, FFA, and FCCLA membership is encouraged, but not required. NO dogs will be allowed on the grounds or inside Mayor Arena. Exhibitors ignoring this rule will be disqualified and asked to leave. Exhibitor can submit up to one team entry. Participation will be divided into three grade divisions. Divisions: Junior (Grades 3 to 5) Intermediate (Grades 6 to 8) Senior (Grades 9 to 12) Food Challenge Team Members: Each team will consist of 3 to 4 members within the same age division. Youth can move up to the next grade division, but they cannot move down a grade division. Food Categories will consist of either poultry, rabbit, or dairy goat. All other ingredients will be a mystery to the participants until they start they contest. Attire: All contestants must wear closed toed shoes and clothes appropriate for cooking. Teams have the option of wearing coordinating clothing, aprons or hair coverings. Resource Materials: Teams will be provided with the following resources to assist them in preparing for the team presentation: Fight Bac - Fight Foodborne Bacteria Brochure Know Your Nutrients Choose MyPlate - 10 Tips to a Great Plate Food Challenge Worksheet Copies of Grocery Receipts Supply Box: Each team must supply their own equipment for the food challenge. Teams may bring only the listed supplies. Any additional items will be removed from the box prior to the start of the contest. 3 8 Contest Format: Preparation - Teams will be assigned a cooking station and provided a set of ingredients reflective of their assigned category. Each team will have 40 minutes to prepare their dish, plan their presentation, and clean their work station. Teams must use some of all the given ingredients A limited pantry will be available for adding ingredients to the dish Teams will be provided with a clue as to the original dish, but should be creative in making their dish Scoring will include team cleanliness, teamwork, time management, and food safety methods Presentation - Teams will present their dish to a panel of judges. During the presentation teams will have 5 minutes to tell the judges the following: Steps in preparing the dish Nutrients found in dish Substitutions that could be used in the dish Cost Analysis of Dish (Senior Only) Food Safety Concerns MyPlate recommendations Awards 1st - 3rd place will be awarded in each category per division A top presentation and top preparation team will receive an award A MAX of 12 teams will be allowed.

5 12th grade in Texas. Eggs/entries must be produced by the exhibitor s chickens. Exhibitor can submit up to two entries per class. Classes 1. Bantam White 2. Bantam Brown 3. Bantam Colors 4. Standard White 5. Standard Brown 6. Standard Colors 7. Tri Color 8. Standard or Bantam Single Egg - Any Fowl 9. Bantam Contents 10. Standard Contents Show Rules: All eggs from any breed of chicken can compete. Three eggs per entry in classes 1 to 7 and a single egg entry for classes 8 to 10. Enter shell color classes for white, brown and color. White (classes 1 and 4) - include only white eggs. Cream or tinted eggs are exhibited in color classes Brown (classes 2 and 5) - include light, medium, and dark brown eggs Color (classes 3 and 6) - include blues, greens, olives, plums, creams, pinks, and pastels Tricolor (class 7) - three colors of the egg exhibitor s choice Content Classes (9 and 10) - Enter fresh eggs from your best fed chickens. This is a single egg entry. Egg Show A single egg entry is cracked open and judged on the color, shape and form of the yolk, albumin, freshness, and visibility of the structure of the egg (germinal spot). A fertile egg is a disqualification. Exhibitors must bring their entries to the Egg Show Superintendent in the Mayor Arena by 10 am on Saturday, December 15th, as judging will begin at 10:30 am. All eggs will be destroyed after judging, at the conclusion of the Egg Show. Awards will be presented after the completion of the show. All entries are eligible to receive prizes. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st - 3rd in each class. An award for Champion Overall Egg Trio and Champion Overall Egg Contents will be given. Judging Criteria: Classes 1-8: Color (25 points) Uniformity (25 points) Size/Shape (20 points) Cleanliness (10 points) Texture (20 points) Classes 9-10: Yolk Color (25 points) Yolk Shape/Centering (25 points) Albumin Clarity/Shape (25 points) Chalazae and Germ Spot (25 points) Disqualification - artificial color enhancements, meat spots, egg shell not clean, active germinal spot 7 Youth Dairy Goat Show and Showmanship 12th grade in Texas. Exhibitor can submit as many entries as they can accommodate. All classes will be governed by the American Dairy Goat Association. Only ADGA recognized breeds are eligible for the show in breeding classes. All ADGA disqualifications and eliminations will apply. Registration papers are not required, but animals must be tattooed. Ownership: All dairy goats must be owned by the exhibitor al least 90 days prior to the show Show attire Exhibitors are required to be neatly and appropriately attired. Exhibitors may wear white shirts and denim jeans or dairy colors while exhibiting. Recognized Breeds Alpines, LaManchas, Nigerian Dwarfs, Nubians, Saanens, AOPs, & Recorded Grades Show Classes: Junior Doe Division (Dry Stock) 1. Junior Kids, Under 3 months 2. Intermediate Kids, 3-6 months 3. Senior Kids, 6-12 months 4. Junior Yearling, months 5. Senior Yearling, months Senior Doe Division (Milking Stock) 1. Does, Yearling s Milker s 2. Does, 2 years and under 3 3. Does, 3 years and under 4 4. Does, 4 years and under 5 5. Does, 5 years and over Health Requirements All animals must be free of draining abscesses, pink eye, ringworm, external parasites and sore mouth. If the animal is questionable, please leave it at home. The show committee is not responsible for any animal that should become ill or die on exhibit. 4 Substitutions Allowed within the same breed. These animals must be entered with the Show Secretary prior to the beginning of the show. Five dairy goats of a breed must be entered from two or more exhibitors to justify a breed show. Champions awards: Junior Champion Junior Reserve Champion Senior Champion Senior Reserve Champion Grand Champion Reserve Grand Champion Best Doe in Show Jr. Dairy Goat Showmanship Exhibitors entered in the dairy goat show may also participate in showmanship for an additional $5. All classes will be governed by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) Show Rules and Standards of Perfection. Only ARBA recognized breeds are eligible for the show. No mixed breeds allowed. Ownership: All rabbits must be owned by the exhibitor at least 30 days prior to the show Show Classes: For breeds having 9 lbs. or over, as a minimum senior weight: A. Senior Bucks - 9 months and older B. Senior does - 9 months and older C. Junior Bucks - under 6 months and D. Junior Does - under 6 months and E. Intermediate Bucks - 6 to 8 months, weight per ARBA weight. F. Intermediate Does - 6 to 8 months, weight per ARBA weight. For breeds having under 9 lbs., as a minimum senior weight A. Senior Bucks - 6 months and older B. Senior does - 6 months and older C. Junior Bucks - under 6 months and D. Junior Does - under 6 months and Five rabbits of a breed must be entered from two or more exhibitors to justify a breed show. 5 All ARBA disqualifications and eliminations will apply: ear, canker, sore hocks, buck teeth, colds and any other obvious disease. Any sick animal will be removed at the discretion of the show Superintendent. Every effort will be made to keep sick or diseased animals out of the show area. Any rabbit that has been entered and begins to show symptoms of illness or disease will be removed from competition and from the showroom. The show committee is not responsible for any rabbit that should become ill or die on exhibit. All rabbits must be permanently and clearly tattooed in the left ear prior to entry in showroom. Each ear tattoo must match the one listed on the entry form. Class Awards All animals will be classified by: Blue Ribbon - Excellent Red Ribbon - Good White Ribbon - Fair Champions awards: Best of Show 1st Runner-up 2nd Runner-up Best of Breed Best of Opposite Sex Jr. Rabbit Showmanship Exhibitors entered in the rabbit show may also participate in showmanship. School classrooms will also be allowed to compete in showmanship using the same animal. Divisions will include: Youth Poultry Show and Showmanship 12th grade in Texas. Exhibitor can submit as many entries as they can accommodate. All classes will be governed by the American Poultry Association (APA) and American Bantam Association (ABA) Show Rules and Standards of Perfection. Old Duck - Female bird over one year of age. C. Young Drake - Male bird under one year of age D. Young Duck - Female bird under one year of age Birds less than 6 months old may not be shown. Note: No runner ducks can be shown due to lack of cages. Five chickens/ducks of a breed from two or more exhibitors must be entered to justify a breed show. 6 Health Requirements: A copy of a current Texas Pullorum-typhoid testing report or NPIP-VS for 9-3 (NPIP form 15) of Texas form 02 should be attached with your entry. Birds without proof of testing will not be allowed. Every effort will be made to keep sick or diseased animals out of the show area. It is recommended for breeding poultry to be washed at least 2 days before the show and kept in a clean environment.
