3 The Heart of the Ozarks Poultry Association's cordially invites you to our 2nd Annual Fall Show which will be held in the poultry building on the Washington County Fairgrounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Judges: Sam Brush, Steve Jones, Monty Fitzgerald. Junior Showmanship: Lewis Hinkle. ENTRIES WILL BE LIMITED TO THE FIRST 550 BIRDS. THERE WILL BE A FEE FOR LATE ENTRIES. Show Entries Close Midnight October 15th, Absolutely No Entries Taken after October 20th Any entries received after this date will be returned to sender. *No Phone Entries Please. Entry Fees: $5.00 per bird/$10.00 Double Coop Open Show $2.00 per Bird/ $4.00 Double Coop Junior Show* *The Junior Show will not be a Double Show. 4 Page 2 EXHIBITION HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR POULTRY, OUT-OF-STATE POULTRY 1. All poultry, which includes game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, turkeys, and waterfowl shall have originated from a US Pullorum clean flock or have had a negative pullorum test within ninety (90) days of entry. All turkeys shall also have originated from a US MG clean flock or have had a negative MG test within thirty (30) days of entry. All the preceding information must be documented on a valid certificate of veterinary inspection, NPIP flock certification form or similar certificate. These forms must indicate that the flocks from which the eggs or chicks originated have been tested for pullorum disease and were free of reactors; or, any eggs or chicks or poults produced under the supervision of the National Poultry Improvement Plan will be deemed to have met with the requirements of these regulations, provided all of the requirements of NPIP are complied with and applicable NPIP forms accompany birds. All non-certified poultry must be individually identified, either by a permanent leg or wing band or tattoo. Wraparound plastic bands are not acceptable. NPIP certified flocks of turkeys, chickens, and domesticated fowl entering on a VS 9-3 or NPIP flock certification form or similar certificate are exempt from the requirement of a certificate of veterinary inspection unless a state of emergency has been declared. ARKANSAS POULTRY An official representing the exhibition shall notify the state veterinarian no later than thirty (30) days prior to the exhibition, giving names, place, inclusive dates, and time of the event. The requirements are as follows: 1. All in-state poultry, which includes domesticated game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, guineas, and turkeys, present at exhibition in Arkansas shall have originated from U. S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flocks or have had a negative pullorum-typhoid test within ninety (90) days of the movement to the exhibition (pullorum-typhoid testing on fairgrounds during the fair is prohibited.) This information will be documented on a NPIP Form VS 9-3, 90-Day Certificate, NPIP Flock Certification Form or similar certificate that will accompany the poultry during exhibition. 2. All non-certified birds must be banded (leg or wing band), with a sealed band. Wraparound plastic bands are not acceptable. In-state waterfowl are exempt from pullorum-typhoid requirements. 3. Any poultry showing evidence of infectious or contagious disease or insect infestation will not be permitted to exhibit. 4. Record Keeping - The sponsor of the exhibition shall compile a list of all poultry present at exhibition. This list shall contain the name and address of each owner, the number, the species, breed, variety, type, sex, and pullorum-typhoid status of all poultry present. A copy of this shall be retained by the sponsor of the exhibition for at least twelve (12) months. NOTE: ALL Entries must be Accompanied by A Copy of your NPIP Flock Certificate or, a copy of your 9-2 Test Certificate. Page 11
5 American Poultry Association, Inc District Meet The APA invites you to become a member. Annual Dues are $15.00 for one year, $40.00 for three years, $25.00 for one year outside U.S. or Canada. Junior Dues(for those 18 and under) are $10.00 per year. Endowment Trust Life Membership is $240. All Annual and Endowment Trust Life Members receive our yearbook and are eligible to earn points toward a Master Exhibitor Award. Every member is eligible to receive awards at this Show. A minimum of Fifteen (15) Master Exhibitor points will be awarded to any qualified win at this show. DUCKS: Heavy, Medium, Light, Bantam GEESE: Heavy, Medium, Light TURKEYS GUINEA FOWL Special APA Certificates for the Following Division Champions LARGE CHICKENS * BANTAM CHICKENS DUCKS * GEESE * TURKEYS * GUINEA FOWL APA SHOW CHAMPION will be awarded one half (1/2) page ad in the next edition of the APA yearbook APA SHOW RESERVE will be awarded one quarter (1/4) page ad in the next edition of the APA yearbook JUNIOR SHOW AWARDS AN APA Ribbon will be Awarded for the following Champions shown by junior exhibitors. Champion Large Chicken * Champion Bantam Chicken Champion Duck * Champion Goose * Champion Turkey * Champion Guinea Fowl APA Medals will be awarded for Junior Show Champion and Reserve Show Champion Juniors need not be APA Members to receive these Awards. 6 Heart of the Ozarks Poultry Association 2nd Annual Fall Show November 6th, 2009 ~ Fayetteville, Arkansas RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE SHOW This Poultry Show will Provide Classes for all APA and ABA Recognized Standard Breeds. All Birds must meet Arkansas Livestock and Poultry health requirements! (See Page 11) 1. All birds will be examined as they are cooped in and during the show. NO sick or diseased birds will be permitted to show. 2. Each bird must be leg banded with the corresponding number on the entry form and coop tag. 3. Neither HOTOPA nor its club officers will be responsible for any loss, sickness, or injury to any bird brought to the show; however, all precautions will be taken to protect the exhibits. 4. APA and ABA Rules will govern the judging of the show unless otherwise stated. 5. All Protests must be made in writing accompanied by a deposit made to the president of HOTOPA. The Show Committee will make the Final Decision. In the event the committee finds no justification for the protest, the fee will be forfeited. 6. No person will be allowed in the aisle during judging, or will be allowed to talk to the judge while he is judging. 7. All eggs laid during the show, unless gathered by the owner, will be broken as they are collected by one of the show officials. 8. Exhibitors may place sale sign's on their birds coop after judging is completed. No sign may interfere with another exhibitors adjoining coop. 9. All Open and Junior Show Poultry will be judged as single entries. No Trios to be exhibited. 10. Definitions: Cock: Male bird hatched before 1/1/2010 ~ Hen: Female bird hatched before 1/1/2010 ~ Cockerel: Male bird hatched after 1/1/2010 ~ Pullet: Female bird hatched after 1/1/ All birds will be judged through fifth place.ribbons will be awarded through 5th place in junior show. 12. Competition is open to poultry exhibitors of the world. No membership is required; however we invite you to become a member of the Heart of the Ozarks Poultry Association. To join enclose 5.00 for juniors, 8.00 for Individuals, for Family memberships with your entry. 13. Class awards will be handed out as they are known throughout the day. There will be an awards ceremony after both shows have been judged for the Champions and Reserves of each show. No birds will be released until after the awards ceremony! 14. Sale Coops will not be available. But you may bring your own to setup outside. 15. Make all checks payable to Heart of the Ozarks Poultry Association or HOTOPA. 16. All Indian Runners will be judged in an open ring. Exhibitors should be present to handle there own birds. HOTOPA is not responsible if a bird is injured during moving. Page 3
